"UNDERSTANDING" bob seger

It seems like only yesterday
I didn't have a clue
I stood alone not knowing where to turn

Have had many conversations with people in Painesville about the deportation's of two illegals in Painesville. I must say there is very little sympathy for these who were deported.

Most people have decided that illegal's in this country have none of the 'Rights' a citizen has in this country along with the constant 'Demands' of these illegals.by them or their surrogates.

Most were offended by the disruption of three council meeting even after the city manager explained the city's position on Policy 413. There were many who felt like I did that the administration caved to the demands of the group.

Also many, no matter on which side they were on felt offended by people from ANYWHERE outside of Painesville complaining for or against the policy.

Many seem disgusted by people like Veronica Dahlberg or any HOLA representative with the idea to jam something down the people of Painesville's throat. It's not going to happen.

Hardly surprised how much pushback I heard on Father Vellenga's written statement that law enforcement as well as other government employee's were 'Evil' for following the law? I would suggest to the good Father that he walk back his letter and in the future let the Diocese and  Bishop Nelson Perez handle the situation. Also many questioned what the Hispanic community must think if a Priest calls law enforcement evil?

Also on Facebook post's many showed very little sympathy to these deported people as well as the cry "don't break-up family's" many wondered what kind of mother who not take her family with her?

Someone mentioned the reason these two were deported so quickly as they had already had hearing about being in this country illegally and therefore could be deported without another hearing.

I see no fast quick solution to this problem in the near future.

Term,
You wrote "There were many who felt like I did that the administration caved to the demands of the group."

It is not a feeling, it is a fact.

When a special committee is "appointed" and is filled with nothing but ringers, what would you expect the results to be?
This is simply a way for the Administration, and specifically Ms Ireland, to try and save face. I don't know the exact number of white middle class people in Painesvile at this time but I can say for sure that they were not represented.

I was at those meetings and I can say for certain that virtually everyone who spoke against 413 did not take the time to listen to the statement by the CM before they spoke. Her statement laid out that the "fears" they were expressing were groundless. Yet one after another they used 3 minutes that I will never get back to blast the policy that they simply do not understand.

I was raised a Roman Catholic but I was also raised to follow rules and laws. It is that we get to pick and choose which laws to follow based on our personal feelings. Society does not work that way.

I guess the old adage that the squeaky wheel gets the grease holds true in the 'ville. If you complain long enough, the Administration will cave in to you.

BTW, people from outside Painesville have absolutely NO business worrying about policies within MY city.

While I have no problem with the deportations, it has been disappointing and predictable to witness the so-called "Christians" in town spouting and writing no small amount of hatred toward the two deportees, their families, and others who share their nationality. I guess things they supposedly heard and learned in church, such as "love thy neighbor as thyself", the Golden Rule, and the Good Samaritan, inconveniently get in the way of their bigoted-laced arguments. This is not to say that the two deportees, Veronica Dahlberg, HOLA, Father Vellenga, and anyone else advocating for their side, is above criticism; they are, but engaging in stereotyping and ethnic slurs weakens the haters' arguments, as well as proves that they are as much of a Christian as is our president.

All I have to do is look at how Mexico executes their immigration laws to know there is nothing wrong with enforcing ours.

As for coming to council meetings a disrupting our community business, that's what community organizing is all about these days. Disruption, demands, division. They would like us to throw money at the problem. Since they are the problem, that's were the money/bennies go.

Very smart people have been teaching others to use agitation like we are seeing here for many decades.

Oppose these people. Its your community and not theirs. When they are totally legal, then they can have a civil voice in how the community is operated.

6:14 Understand your feelings.

7:44 Thank-you for putting into words what I've been thinking. For a Christian nation we sure speak like a bunch of Taliban's. Some of those who write here might be in the pew next to you praising the works of Jesus Christ?
I just wish BOTH sides respected the views of everyone. I knew we were in bad trouble when Congress passed Trumpcare, went to the White House celebrated with a beer party and cheer's only to forget that 20 million would be without health care? All so the top 1% get a tax cut? We have turned into a country where the motto seam's to be "I got mine ,you figure out how to get yours" WE live in a country that can accomplish almost anything yet something can't be solved?

7:44 Yup! the fix was in let's see where it takes us?

So there is a committee for the 413 policy and illegal immigration situation. Copy that. It it highly weighted with Hispanics and supporters of the illegals. Copy that. Residents are silenced when needing to speak at council about 413/illegals because there is a 413 committee? Since the committee people were hand picked and chosen in a cloak of silence, never a notice for such committee. Does that mean the committee meetings are open to the public and residents are allowed to speak at them? Does anyone think there will be public notices for them so we may attend?

5:38 This committee would be foolish to hold meetings without being open to the public. The question is when and where will these meetings be held. We must keep council's feet to the fire. Out of sight out of mind.
Again, anything they may approve of has to come before council. Myself this is all a sham to get people off their backs.

I agree with you as council won't stand up to the residents and support the 413 policy that was written. It is in place, it has residents support, they need to forget about and/or ban NON residents from speaking at PC Council meetings. Again thanks to Powalie for making this MESS. If he had put it into place and not gone public like he was told, this would not be an issue. But since he was never a city resident, again this mess is not his but ours to deal with.

Interesting list of council candidates at breakfast. All 3 wards have 3 female Hispanics running. This election will remind me of the Trump election. Lesser of 2 evils, those in now that need to go or watch this town get closer and closer to a sanctuary city. Time to sell and blow this popsicle stand.
