Still crazy after all these years
Oh, still crazy after all these years

How many years has this problem been with us?

Beatriz Casillas statement for masses July 29-30 by Father Vellenga

Beatriz Casillas was detained by the Highway Patrol on I-77 and reported to Border Patrol last week and  is designated for deportation this Tuesday. She is the mother of 4 minor children and a member of St. Mary Parish. She has no criminal background or even a minor traffic infraction. She is undocumented. Many years ago she was caught, attempting to enter the U.S. illegally and was deported.

The actions taken by the Highway Patrol and Border Patrol are evil. The security forces in our country are meant to protect all people. When they focus on non-violent and non-criminal elements of our community, they leave us vulnerable to the criminals and violence that is part of our society. The actions taken by the security forces only serve to sow fear and intimidate peaceful families and especially the children.

Bishop Daniel Flores of Brownsville, Texas questions the morality of the United States deporting individuals back to countries that are experiencing massive violence. He states "I consider supporting the sending of an adult or child back to a place where he or she is marked for death, where there is lawlessness and societal collapse, to be formal cooperation with an intrinsic evil." their plight is a right to life issue.

Beatriz will be deported to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico on Tuesday , drug cartel country. Two Painesville dads deported to Nuevo Laredo last Tuesday have been kidnapped for ransom, have not  been heard from since their abductors put them on the phone asking for $3000.

Not all workers in governments offices involved with immigration law are considered to be cooperating with evil. But, some positions appear to be immoral such as an official who approves a deportation order, pilots who fly deportees back to their home countries and law makers who vote for unjust deportation policy.

We can choose the unfortunate path that has preceded so many injustices and genocides in world history, remaining silent. We do not need to be heroic. But we need to be faithful to the Gospel.

Please consider calling, emailing or writing your elected representatives to stop Beatriz Casillas deportation. This statement is available to express your individual support.

Rep. David Joyce
Sen. Sherrod Brown
Sen. Rob Portman

*****************************************************************************

Now when I think of evil I think Adolf Hitler, Osama Bin Laden or Saddam Hussein. I don't think of a Highway Patrol officer any police officer or an ICE agent . I see people following the law. The pilots flying the plane? So if you agree with any the above as evil. Then is entering a sovereign country illegally, stealing a persons I.D. or Social Security number, not paying taxes and/or abusing that countries social services, maybe even the van driver who takes you to jobs you work at under the table. Driving without a valid driver's license or insurance,  Knowing of a  violent individual in your neighborhood who could rape or kill a person. Would they fit into Father Steve's 'evil' description?

Now I have been told the two Hispanic ladies running for council would possible like to make Painesville a 'Sanctuary City'  myself I choose not to go down that rabbit hole. What good would that do? The people mentioned above were arrested outside of our community. So if your goal is to stay in the confines of Painesville City forget about shopping, working, or entertainment outside of the city.

I do agree that deportees only be released in safe areas and not in the middle of the night.

As a group of people in this city, we must stop calling other's evil or racists, criminals, feeloader's. We must work together to find a workable solution to this problem. Violence as well as name calling will never solve anything.

If your an illegal immigrant, become legal. Start today. Pretty simple.

Look at the immigration enforcement in other countries. How do they treat illegal immigrants? They make the USA look pretty good.

Heck, look at most of the other countries of the world, USA looks good.

This is common sense. I feel for people being caught and deported. But there are good reasons for these laws. Other countries have them and enforce them too. So, don't waste your breath telling common sense America how bad we are. It won't float.

This is text book. Play book. Over run and over turn.

Father Steve has been an agent facilitating this program for years. That is why I stopped being parishioner of St.Mary's.

Good luck there.

Father Vellenga, if the airplane pilot is "evil", then how would you characterize those who put 100 people in the back of a truck and let many die there?
We have to stop encouraging that behavior! There are so many wonderful people fleeing bad countries, how do we keep the evil out, yet bring in and encourage the goodness?
Law enforcement has to be the "adult in the room", calling them names is easy, but childish.
Please, Father, this is a heartbreaking situation, but we need rational discussion and solutions that are compatible with our Christianity. It is part of a much bigger set of issues.
Would any deportations be acceptable to you? And if so, where would you draw the line? There will always be some on the wrong side of any such line,
Would these deportations meet your approval if the deportees were taken to Leon?
If the society they are fleeing is failing, then should we invade and conquer to save the ones who are unable to flee?
What is it about our country that makes people risk everything to get here, and how can we protect (and expand) those qualities?
I ask these questions as though it were up to us, but, no, we are all forced to "pay unto Caesar that which is Caesar's" and to live our faith under the rule of others. So my only hope must be to encourage prayer, and the search for solutions by those in power?

As a lifelong Catholic, I am greatly troubled by the words of Fr. Vallenga and the position of the the Diocese. The United States takes in more immigrants than any other country in the world by far. For Vallenga to characterize government employees for doing their jobs and enforcing the laws on the books as being evil is reprehensible. Again, all that is required is to follow the rules on becoming a citizen, our ancestors did.

Where was Fr. Vallenga 2 years ago when one of his illegals raped and murdered an innocent women in her own house and shot at another woman.

This is in no way a post against Nick, but I am amazed that we continue to have our city give money to DPO and city employees on their board of directors, is this maybe a conflict of interest?

12:36/7:09/5:29/5:08 Great thought into your comments. Myself the 'evil' comment on law enforcement and government employees went way to far over the line and the good Father should apologize.

Most Americans know by now that you should never vote in -- in ANY position -- a Hispanic, and especially a Mexican -- no matter how lowly the position, as in Painesville City Council. They are for Hispanics and Latinos, and they are all too aware that their people and culture are overtaking ours, and soon the conversion would have been over. That's a big reason why they, and their government in Mexico, are so infuriated that America and Americans are finally speaking up. They know they almost had us, and it's so late in the game, maybe they already do. If not for Trump, there would be no hope of saving America, and they know it. They have already taken away our one-language country, as their Mexican leaders laughed and bragged that they would. And NOBODY should vote for ANYBODY like these two Painesville women who say they will not respect the laws of the country in which they will be in office. This is a case-in-point for the priest, too. He wants his people to OWN the United States and he will do whatever is necessary to help accomplish that. Quit giving money to his church, non-Hispanic/Latino people. He doesn't respect our country, or our laws, or our law enforcement. Father Vallenga needs to resign his post at St. Mary's, and he needs to go to Mexico to help the people there to change their country. WE didn't make that mess there; they DID. Unfortunately, even if he left tomorrow, it will be too late for the Catholic school that he closed because the only thing he cares about are the Hispanics. That's where he wants all the money to go, and he didn't care one bit for spending money on that school. We're on to you, Father, and what you are saying about this country and our city, and our law enforcement is horrible. Please stop. If you want to stay here, then UPHOLD our laws. But he doesn't want to do that, because he wants them to have OUR country, now that they've wrecked theirs. Their numbers are growing rapidly with many anchor babies being born daily, and many more coming to voting age daily, and he knows it. The thoughts of those permanently open borders where we are one with Mexico are music to his ears. He can have his cake and eat it, too.

And by the way, the illegals here ARE criminals and freeloaders. That does happen to be the truth, like it or not. My family did not give them permission to come here and steal our jobs and health care dollars, food and housing money, etc. We're barely scraping by, but tons of our money goes to these people.

Don't let the door hit ya..., and that goes for the illegals, the priest, AND the two ladies who say they are going to run for city council.

You see this same disregard for the law from so many Hispanics in this country that is currently on display by the Hispanic women who say they will run for city counsel, Father Vallenga, and even the people who are speaking out for the woman who was just deported and blaming it on the US. It's that same disregard for the law that has their countries in the horrifying shape that they're in. We don't need it or want it here; we have plenty of our own criminals. You broke our laws and disrespected our country the moment you crossed the border illegally or over-stayed your Visa, or whatever you did. Turn around, go back the way you came, and get back to your own countries. Again, we don't need any more law breakers here.

"Over run and over turn." So true.
Please don't giggle when you hear someone say it.
History proves it to be true. Intentional at the outset, or not.
All it takes is one aspiring lunatic to set it off once the stage is set.
A country is defined by its Borders, Language, Culture. And multi-culturism. doesn't work. My 2 cents.

U.S. Justice Department to cities: Focus on crime committed by illegal immigrants
Reuters By Sarah N. Lynch 1 hr ago

U.S. cities that refuse to step up efforts to focus on crimes committed by undocumented immigrants will not be allowed to participate in a new crime reduction training program unveiled earlier this year by the Justice Department, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said on Thursday.
In making the announcement, Sessions singled out four local police departments that had expressed interest in the new Public Safety Partnership Program, saying they first had to answer a list of questions by Aug. 18 confirming they do not have any "sanctuary" policies to shield illegal immigrants from possible deportation by ensuring they will allow federal immigration officials access to local jails.
"By protecting criminals from immigration enforcement, cities and states with so-called 'sanctuary' policies make all of us less safe," Sessions said.
The four police departments that must respond are Albuquerque, New Mexico; Baltimore, Maryland; and San Bernardino and Stockton, California.
Representatives for the four cities' police departments did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Sessions' announcement reflects part of a broader policy push by President Donald Trump to crack down generally on illegal immigration.
He has urged Congress to support funding the building of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, and the administration has moved to dramatically widen the net of illegal immigrants targeted for deportation.
This week, Trump also backed a bill developed by Republican Senators Tom Cotton of Arkansas and David Perdue of Georgia to also cut back on legal immigration by 50 percent over ten years.
The National Public Safety Partnership is a new program launched in June that involves a three-year initiative geared toward areas with high rates of violent crime.
Twelve cities were selected when it was first launched, including Buffalo, New York, Houston, Texas and in Sessions' home state, Birmingham, Alabama.
It is unclear how cities with interest in the program may respond to the Justice Department's stance, but some municipalities have pushed back against the Trump administration's immigration policies.
A U.S. judge last month refused to remove a block on an executive order by President Donald Trump that would have withheld federal funds from "sanctuary" cities, which do not use municipal funds or resources to help advance the enforcement of federal immigration laws.

As far as the illegals being dropped off in unsafe places in Mexico, IF that is true...

Last I heard, many countries will not cooperate with the US and willingly accept their people back. Mexico is probably one of them, because Mexico has always said that their people are here, they are not leaving, they are not going to be forced to learn English, and they are not cooperating with deportees.

Having said that, though, unless that is the only place our government has access to dropping people off there, then there really isn't any excuse for not dropping people off in a safe place, if there IS such a place in Mexico. The Mexican government needs to get a grip and address this issue and take their people back willingly. I just love how everything is America's fault with these people.

As far as the woman who was just deported... On her way out, she can apologize to all those whose jobs she took over all the years that she was here, and whose money she stole in medical care, etc. And she should be billed before she is deported.

We are now seeing the beginning of self-deportation, and it's a wonderful sight to see. The construction companies do not have near enough workers thanks to this crackdown. That means they were all hiring illegals, which we all knew, and they will now be forced to hire Americans. Another case in point is that there are now so many illegals Haitians leaving the US and crossing the border into Canada, that Canada says they are overwhelmed and struggling to accommodate them. The Canadian government, trying to prove he was "better than" Trump and America, said he would take all the illegals if they wanted to come there. So now many illegals from here are crossing over to their country daily, and Canada is also taking in many Syrians from Syria, etc. If they can cross that easily from here to there, which they can on any back road, driven by a taxi to the border, then they can all cross over from there to here, too. Canada will soon be unrecognizable as the country it is now, it will be increasingly unsafe there, and we now need a fence with Canada to protect our country.

I heard.read there were 2 Latinas = Ana Padilla and dont remember the other. As for the Hada regime. It took it's toll within the city schools. A Hada was hired as a gym teacher there. So, this is the 3rd PE teacher in a few short years. One was a male, Mr. L. let go and replaced by a Very Nice and Very Well Liked young lady. Now she was let go end of last school year and replaced by Ms. Hada. As a parent, I liked Ms. Hren and the current male teacher Mr. O. But seems the Hada name is much like a Kennedy, one foot in the door and they are here forever. What a shame for those 2 teachers let go and replaced regardless because someone else wants and needs a job. Curious where Ms. Hada came from and why she left her past job. Seems there is a pattern and they do this quite often.

Watch out 12:18 and 1:51, the Italians are taking over. No doubt we do have illegal Italians, etc. here, because we surely have illegals from every area in the world in our country, but give me a break. Have they been crossing the border by the thousands per day for eight years? Have they been coming by the millions for the last 25, or so, years? Do they have untold amounts of ghost towns in Italy, because half their country is here? Does their government yell at us, demanding to know how do we think they will house and educate all of their citizens that are here illegally if we send them all packing? Does their government demand that we keep them here and legalize them? Are Americans having to learn Italian to get a job in America? Is half of Italy or Ireland in our country bleeding us dry, and having babies as fast as they can have them on our dime? Are there millions of Americans who would like to have more children, but can't afford them, because they are taking care of the millions of Italian anchor babies? Are the Italians and Irish marching in our streets demanding rights and telling us they're staying and there's nothing we can do about it? Yes, we best watch out for those Italians, because they're taking over our country. I thought it was the Mexicans, and since Obama, also the rest of the Hispanics/Latinos, but you know best. And sure, not a THING to worry about HERE. Go take a look at our elementary school, and also elementary schools all across America, and tell me the "Italians" aren't taking over America. It's people like you who helped let this situation get out of control and get this bad.

6:09 You might have mistook my analogy. I was rebuffing your only Hispanics stick up for Hispanics.
And it's a fair guess if the only thing separating Italy and the United States was the Rio Grande River there would be many more Italian's here. That also goes for Ireland, Germany, Poland or anyone else.
Seems cruel to me when you substituted Italians for Hispanic's.
And to set the record straight, Obama never issued blanket amnesty to Hispanic's the was your hero Ronald Reagan followed by the first Bush and the floodgates were open! They the (Republican Party) wanted them here as customer's and cheap labor. Please get your story straight.

5:36, you're kind of rude and sickening. And we have legal seasonal workers programs for the fields, which benefits the people who come to work and America. We need to get those programs updated and get them firmly in place right now, and get back to a legal program there to protect the farmers and the workers. But truth be told, we probably have enough legal citizens now that can cover those jobs once the employers quit hiring the illegals. But if not, the legal programs should have been firmly in place several months ago, and certainly by the next growing season. That is the only place we need legal immigrant season workers today, although in the past we have needed and utilized them temporarily for other things. And by the way, I come from farmers.

9:05, most Hispanics/Latinos are only for Hispanics/Latinos. They don't care about America, per se, they care about their people being here, staying here, and taking over here, just like the priest. Even in our government, most Hispanics/Latinos are mainly for the Hispanic/Latinos. Not all, but most are, and it is dangerous now to vote in someone of that decent in any capacity in this country. If you don't want to look around at the facts and see that as the truth, then don't, but that is the truth. And, no, I do not think other people from other countries would act the way these people act. We have easily-crossed borders with Canada, but most Canadians respect laws and our country, for example. And you say it seemed cruel to you that I substituted Italians for Hispanics? YOU are the one who made the substitution of Italians and Irish as a nonsensical analogy in your 12:18 post; I was just continuing on with your own ridiculous point. I mean, really, it seems cruel to you that I used Italians........give me a break.....YOU started it, I was just pointing out the absurdity of it.

And by the way, I'm not a Republican, so throwing Reagan in my face when you have no other good point left to make, means nothing to me. However, I do not see any Republicans sticking up for that very huge mistake, and that should have been a huge lesson for us. But instead, Obama was giving away this country with both fists, and loving every minute of it, while Hillary was promising that all illegals would be legalized within her first 100 days in office, and she was also promising to up legal immigration and also the entry of many thousand more Syrian refugees than Obama by enormous numbers. Whatever happened in the future, this is now, and now they all need to go, and now it is starting to be dealt with...by a Republican.

And I'm still cracking up over your 9:05 post, when you said it seemed cruel to you that I substituted Italians and Irish for Mexicans/Hispanics, etc. (This was only to prove how ridiculous YOUR substitution with them was.) But...since you're having such a hard time with it, I suggest you retreat to a safe place and color in your coloring book. You can consider while you are sucking your thumb why you continue on with the Democratic lies that 20 million people would have lost their health care. Simply not true. It was not a good enough bill, and the bill was NOT finished yet, but it never will be if the Democrats keep lying. You know, like Obama said you could keep your own policy and doctor, and Americans premiums would go DOWN. Remember to bring your blanky, abuser.

3:42,

The legal seasonal worker program you mentioned must not be enough in California, as growers there have been struggling for the past few years to find enough workers, due to deportations under both Obama and Trump. Based on the many stories written about this in the past few months, growers would like to hire American citizens, but the jobs go untouched, whether it's because of low pay and no benefits, or that the work is too strenuous. The Central Valley of California, where most of these growers are located, was one of a handful of areas in the state that cast more votes for Trump than for Clinton; I wonder what they think now about his immigration policies now, especially with the new proposal to cut legal immigration?

By the way, I see that you were "sickened" by my comments. Good! Maybe you can go to a drug store that doesn't employ anyone whose primary language is Spanish, and find relief. And, as for me being rude, you seem to be an expert at it, so no surprise that "game recognizes game". Finally, since you stated that you come from farmers, I hope your parents had crop insurance the year you were born, because their seed was obviously defective.

It must be difficult to type while you're clutching your pearls. For years, Democrats and the left have been accused of being weak, soft, and unwilling to stand up to the mocking, insinuations, and name-calling by Republicans and the right. Those days are over; if not, they should be, because fighting back is the only method bullies seem to understand. If it means lowering one's standards and getting into the gutter at times, so be it; it's better than doing nothing while the other side runs amok. I'd prefer to have rational discussions, but too many Trump supporters who comment on this blog either aren't capable of, or don't believe in, them. Yes, their candidate won last year, but that doesn't mean the rest of us have to acquiesce, or rubber-stamp, Trump's behavior or theirs, just because he's president.
