'TAKE A CHANCE ON ME" abba

Take a chance on me
If you need me, let me know, gonna be around

9 people for 3 spots, 3 are incumbents. So who are these new-bee's and what do the bring to the table? To be truthful many I have never seen at a council meeting and what makes them throw their hat in the ring? Have they ever spoken to  the person holding that seat they want ,with concerns or suggestions?

To be truthful this city presently seems in far better shape than it was a dozen years ago when I took an interest due to the 3.9 charter change levy was attempted to pass. Everything from the Cemeteries  to road's.as well as some of the flooding issues.

First the city is in better shape due to levies as well as $8.00 surcharge on your water bills and we seem to have survived the recession of 2007.

Now how much do these candidates know about our city? Will we ask? What's their view on reciprocity income tax? Do they know anything about AMP-OHIO? financials of the city? Does the police department have adequate funds, what about the fire department? Are they aware we will need to share the cost of a new Tower truck within a few years? Our share around $450,000 with Concord Township picking up the other half? If road levy passes do they know which roads need the most repair? It's not just a better place to live, work and play it's a lot of saying yes and no. And sometimes you can't make everybody happy.

What are their views on funding the Downtown Painesville Organization is a waste of money or should we increase funding? Seems to be an unwritten law that 50% of all tax dollars somehow end up in those two square blocks?  Any ideas on/for a Senior Center or just keep writing the present checks?
Since you are all running for at large seats what do you see as the biggest problem in Ward I, II III, IV? What are the biggest attributes of each Ward?

Yes, I know we will be inundated with illegal immigration but please let's keep our eye's on the ball!

It would appear that the Hispanics are running at this time to advocate for the illegal Hispanics. There couldn't be a bigger reason not to vote for them.

Reading these comments prompted me to go back and revisit the article in the News Herald 7-28-17 regarding the deportation of an illegal woman.I scrolled through the photos taken there and found them very interesting. The one where a person was holding a sign (photo # 10)reading What will become of Painesville when it is all boarded up? I had a good laugh at that. Is this person saying if the illegals are deported Painesville will become a ghost town? Apparently they are not aware of the history here AND removing illegals will not/did not make it a no-mans place. Can't give illegals credit for that one. Then a photo of Ms. Morelos with her husband in matching tee shirts. Her married name would be DeJesus. Now I know many women dont take their husbands name, but I think there is something funny with this one.

You make a good point, Term. By the way, What's Tom Fitzgerald's position on those same issues? I have no idea.

10:18 Please explain?

12:48 In Painesville politics it seems wise now to run stealth campaigns. No meet the candidate nights no website to read positions or ask questions. Even few yard signs and on the last few days before the election hope your name recognition and friends carry you to a win. To this day I have no idea where not only Tom but other candidates stand on issues. As 6:28 You can only guess?
IT WORKS!

What we do know is that everyone on council at the present time let this ridiculous fiasco start and play out with the resulting stacked deck task force. And that's after making sure that the illegals are as comfortable here as they can be. Reason enough not to vote any incumbent into office except for Lori DeNallo, because she ends up the only choice. Forget voting for the Hispanics; that's suicide for our town unless you're DelaMotte or a Hispanic and want it to BE a Hispanic town. I never thought I would hear myself say this, let alone think it, but that leaves Hal Werner for 1/1/18, and Marsita Ferguson or Traci Montgomery for 1/3/18. I know nothing about Marsita Ferguson and Traci Montgomery; does anyone else? We always have such a lousy council. I've been here about 25 years, and I don't remember anyone who made good decisions for this city or that helped it in any way. Previous councils just sat there while they purposefully let this illegal problem fester and grow in our city, and while the whole AMP decades-long disaster was levied on us, for example. And now this unlawful ridiculousness. We need ICE here.

As I drive by the little food stands that the Hispanics have set up on the streets around this town, I have to wonder if those stands would be here if they were being run by White people. I believe that answer is a resounding no. I know that if I tried to set up a one-card table lemonade stand here, I'd have had so many inspections and permits, that I couldn't have opened it. And if I had gone ahead without asking permission, I'd have so many fines and problems, I'd probably be in jail. I also especially like the Hispanic home on Elm Street that has the baby gates hanging horizontally off the top of the front of the house, over the porch, along with other things hanging there. They've been there for months, but there's no inspector hanging around THERE causing them headaches, is there?

Proper ID at the poling stations should be an absolute on elections day in Painesville.

Interesting article in the News Herald today by Cal Thomas regarding Sanctuary City or Hideouts? Something to think about.

At August 15, 2017 at 5:45 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Make no mistake about it, this is a sanctuary city. It MAY, and I do mean, MAY, even mean that the police will call ICE for the BIG illegal criminals, but even if they do, that will be the only way in which this is not a sanctuary city. We have now started a stacked task force for what? Apparently to make sure the illegals are safe and comfortable here; that our laws don't hurt the illegals in any way, or make them get out, and that they'll keep coming and coming. This is a sanctuary city, folks, and it has been for years while they've been pulling the wool over our eyes, and we've been letting them.

I plan on voting for Ana Padilla and Marsita Ferguson, because we desperately need new ideas and perspectives on our council. Rubber-stamping the same names every four years, or re-electing retreads like Hal Werner, has gotten us nowhere, so it's past time to shake things up and see what happens. I'll give a pass to Lori DiNallo, because for whatever faults she has, she has been very good at responding whenever my wife or I have contacted her for assistance. She's certainly more responsive than our ward councilperson, Katie Jenkins, whose only redeeming quality is that she's not Hal. Speaking of Hal, I suspect he'll be THE candidate for the Trump worshipers who read this site and have attacked the three Latinas running for council with the same hatred and fervor shown by their alt-right peers in Charlottesville this past weekend. Term has hoped that the Latina candidates aren't one-trick ponies; Hal's been a one-trick pony, with his obsession over Mexicans and illegal immigration, for so long that the pony is old enough to be sold to the glue factory.

What we need now is a task force to make sure that the legal citizens of Painesville, Ohio, USA, do not have illegal foreigners living among them. If we want an example of why not, there are many, but we don't need to look any further than the Concord woman who was brutalized and then murdered by an illegal foreigner. Also, didn't the Painesville police have an interaction with that man beforehand and let him go free, back into American society? Now, you would think that that task force would already be in place, by means of our city council, city manager, etc., but, sadly, no, because they are all advocating for the illegal foreigners, even as our city CONTINUES to fill up with illegal foreigners.

6:51 See this is how false information starts. It wasn't the Painesville Police Department that had interaction with the rapist, killer. No that was our Sheriff Department.
6:11 Tough choices this November

What exactly do our laws say?...that the Painesville police will only call ICE for the BAD criminals?...(defined by whom, I wonder). I think I just heard that the government says that they want a call for ANY illegal that is arrested, and if a city does not do that, then they are a sanctuary city.

At August 16, 2017 at 1:16 PM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

Policy 413 involves calling ICE for crimes involving drugs, violent crime, driving impaired and association with gangs. Calling for an person being in the country illegally is optional. Seems you want them all deported? Well if you remember the Razo case a few years ago. ICE failed to come an interrogate him.
So what exactly do you want Painesville Police to do with a non-violent, person they are holding? PPD cannot be used as a holding area.

At August 16, 2017 at 4:52 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

1:16, so without further knowledge of the federal laws at this moment, it's hard to say if Policy 413 complies with them, or not. You ask me if I want them all deported as if it's some strange, racist concept; of course I want them all deported. I have children and grandchildren, and I don't want any illegals around them, and I and MY family follow all laws, so not a strange concept that I want everyone else to, also. And this is all before even considering that my town is now a town full of Hispanic illegals. And, yes, I want Painesville to hold them until they find out if ICE can come. What is a jail if not a holding area? The government is a little busy right now getting the gangs out, but if they say they want to be call for ANY illegal that is arrested, then, yes, that is what I want Painesville to do. I want them to follow the laws.

ICE invited to hang at the voting places in November, best way ever to clean up this town as no one else seems to want to. Very cheap way to catch and return to Mexico.

At August 17, 2017 at 9:19 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

4:52 No, you answered your own question. "The government is a little busy..." so you want non-violent illegals held in jail until ICE finds the time to get them? Taking valuable manpower off the streets from getting the violent illegals? First off are you aware Painesville has no jail. Anyone they want held would go to county jail where the city must pay a very substantial fee to house them and for how long? Will the federal government reimburse the city? Will Painesville spend general funds to house these 'criminals' Will you finance it?
You simplify this situation like we are only dealing with a few hundred people when in truth we are dealing with million's!

This is all too complicated for me. There are plenty of vacant office buildings in this city for ICE, the Feds and or the Border Patrol to come and set up shop. Almost the entire Chase building is vacant, ideal place. Very simple. As for the jail, did PPD tear out their jail or are there still cells there? Again with ICE here and if the jail is still there, an easy fix. Walk em to the jail, sit with them until there are enough to send back on a 1 way no deposit no return ticket. As for the jail charging a fee? Since this is not only a Painesville city issue (note the trailer park next to Sheets in Perry) The Feds should reimburse Sheriff Dan and company for their time and keep. Heck, I'd even volunteer my time to help clean up my city.

11`:59 Nothing to it I'll call Jeff Sessions on the phone tonight and I'm sure he will put my/your request at the top of his list! Best guess Painesville might have a couple of holding cells. Nothing to it. The feds should , but will they? I sure you would make a great asset to this cause.

9:19: When ICE requests a hold, it is for 48 hours. No big, whopping horror story. 48 hours. And just as an aside, many of the illegals are leaving on their own to Canada and other places, some of which might include their HOME countries. And when the government is contacting people here illegally now, they are letting some of them leave on their own, and they are. I don't know how much of a time frame they are giving them, but they are going on their own. Unlike the Democrats who just threw up their hands and said, oh well, what can we do. We'll let them all in, because they'll vote Democrat. Too stupid to realize that Hispanics will vote for Hispanics, and everyone, including the Clintons would lose their jobs anyway. Painesville is part of the country as a whole, and I would hope that their Policy 413 would match exactly with what the federal government is saying. If that is not the case, then Jess Sessions does need to be notified, so on that point, at least, you are correct.

11:59,

If you're serious about cleaning up Painesville, how about moving to Mentor or Perry?

At August 18, 2017 at 10:36 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Again, this is not a Painesville city, read what I said about the trailer park by Sheets - 2 buses off load there. This is a nation-wide serious situation.

10:36,

But if you move to Perry, Painesville will start to improve, and you get to volunteer your time to help clean out the Perry Trailer Park. It's a win-win for both towns!
