" IT DON'T MATTER TO ME" bread

Lotta people have an ego hang up
'Cause the want to be the only one

As reported in today's edition of the News-Herald 05/07/16  Headstone design will be approved. It came down to a simple re-application? Something tells me that petition with 3,500 signatures  might have contributed to that vote with it also?

My best guess is somewhere along the chain of command two years ago someone in the city forgot to dot  an I or cross a T ? As I have mentioned numerous times this city hasn't the stomach. Were there rules in place? Were they approved? As someone mentioned they, meaning Painesville folded like a chair. Now I understand the concept of Executive Session but also the vote must be done in a public forum. Seems we missed that part. Was it an unanimous decision? Paper didn't say. More to be swept under the rug so to speak. Other communities look at Painesville and question why some of what goes on around here is allowed. I will ask for a vote on this be made public, not because I oppose the decision but I do oppose the procedure. (sunshine law) They will have to make their votes public.
I hope this will aid in the closure for this family, in that it took the city two years to challenge the design of the headstone?
To those opposed remember who and why you are going there for.

The city claim that the parking garage will cost less then $700,000! to bring down I will believe it when I see the contract. They will show us the contract won't they. People have mentioned to me that maybe with the large number of city employees the city might be involved?

As I have watched the goings on with Downtown Streetscape as well as the High Point Centre one thing has remained constant. The city needs  a parking garage. If it was not Mr. Volpe from City Architecture or Mr. Zarenbe and his High Point Centre plans both  insisted on the parking garage. How soon we forget.
I find it very odd the Downtown Painesville Organization silence on this? Don't want to bite the hand that feeds you maybe?

I find it remarkable that $700,000 could not make that garage whole again. The city would could hire people to give their assessments but let's be truthful unless it's an independent source the outcome will be what the city wishes the outcome to be .It's gotta go!

Painesville is a very unique place to live. It seems the resident's try to sell you on it's historical values and every time you turn around their tearing or wanting to tear something down? Seems the #1 business in Painesville is to demolish everything it can? Oh well, we can in the future look at photographs and say "I remember when" Thank-God for camera's as well as the ability to not put something in it's place.

A photograph never grows old, you and I change, people change. All through the months and years but a photograph always remains the same.

Albert Einstein

Thankfully for Painesville!

"Painesville is a very unique place to live."

Unique is not the word I would use.

Maybe they can name the new garage the Parmly Parking Garage.

It might not matter to you but it does to me! First that headstone is hideous and doesn't belong in a cemetery. Next all these biker's. I get into a 4000 lb. car, by law must wear a seatbelt and strap children in the backseat. Biker's on the other hand are allowed to wear headgear consisting of just a bandana and wife beater T-shirt's and that old hag on the back is wearing a halter top and shorts. Her cellulose is so appealing. You might of looked cool when you were 25 and she was 22 now the two of you riding around just look old worn and just hideous. That look left you 30 years ago and it isn't coming back.
Now that Harley, If my car made any where near the amount of noise that bike makes I would be ticketed. But you cruise up and down my street at all hours of the night. YES we know you own a motorcycle we are wondering if any of you have any brain cells left after all that smoking up you did in the 70's? Do us all a favor stay home and watch Easy Rider for the millionth time. Hero's? Most of you are simple drywall hangers. When you die be cremated and all this could have been avoided. Starting to understand why the Vietnam War was lost! I agree with you on one point Term, I want to see as well as most of my neighbor's how these votes were cast by council.

Your argument concerning the head stone may, or may not, have merit but you went completely off the rails after that.
I am not even saying that I disagree with you on any of it but all of that rambling has exactly NOTHING to do with a monument in a cemetery.
Try to address the issue at hand if you want to make a point that matters.

I found nothing offensive about the headstone and think the right decision was made. Ever go to Spencer's at the Mall? Worse stuff in there. I do hope though, proper paperwork is re-submitted along with any fees (fees for everything here). Also,a fine for doing this without permission.

Thisdidnt need a vote, not everything does. They could be in executive session due to possible legal action and then adjourn. Based on the conversation in exec session the City Manager would have his marching orders.

Nothing illegal about it, but you will probably argue with me anyhow.

What gang? Motorcycle gang? What is the symbol/photo that's so offensive to some? Details.....we need details, please.

5:54 I family bought a plot in Riverside Cemetery a couple of years back. The headstone shows an engraving of the person as well as a motorcycle. Someone took offence of what was on the back of the headstone. A skull with a knife in it and two bolts of lightning. along with S.M M.C. the city claimed it never approved of this engraving. The family presented 3,500 signatures on a petition and council approved it if the re-submitted the application. That's pretty much all I know no mention of a fee or fine that I heard of.
6:48 Lets argue for a minute. First no reason was given for the Executive Session was there?
ORC 121.22 I guess they would go with this. Conferences with an attorney for the public body concerning disputes involving the public body that are the subject of pending or imminent court action; First question was there a lawsuit in the works? And how would council advise the administration without a vote? What 7 people said do whatever you want? That's technically a vote. Sounds crazy but this was another example of council playing CYA!
Lakeland later this month has a presentation on Sunshine Laws I suggest council people attend as to know exactly what they can and can't do. Forget it Bath Tub Races comin' up.
I agree ADAM WOW.
3:49 I agree but people will tell us no loved one is buried at Spencer's
3:44 Seems to me 2:06 as a lot of stuff on his mind. Maybe his wife ran off with a biker?

Mentor has Hells Angels tombstones throughout their cemeteries. No uproar there, no news coverage.

"Do gooders" like the people making a big deal over this grave need to lighten up. I bet they have a problem with Halloween decorations too.

I guess it's fair for me to admit that at many times I have had the same thoughts as 2:06. I never thought about it but the state does require everyone in a vehicle to be restrained in a seat belt is it to much to ask that anyone riding a motorcycle have a full helmet? Along with the fact that if involved in an accident how much responsibility does the motorcyclist have in providing for his protection.

And has what to do with the subject of this blog?
Look, we understand that you don't like bikers but maybe when Term does a post about the "bad" things that bikers do, you might have a forum. Until then, I am guessing you are just a bitter person with nothing to do.
BTW, regarding your last line, when was the last time you were re-examined to get your driver's license? What would the difference be?

2:06 might have a point, had a number of comments I couldn't post. for language.

So 6:48 Mr Carson is still misbehaving? Council should have given him his marching orders? Council is complacent and will never let this guy go because 1.It would look bad on them 2. They don't seem to want to take the initiative to search for a leader that will turn this town back around like the residents want. Same for the schools, the continual renewal of administration contracts shows they are complacent too. Let the inmates run the asylum, let the graduation and passing rates fall and better yet, fix those grades to give the illusion of greatness. Such a sorry situation for both and they have to go hand in hand for the sake of the community.

Just saw this today.
Realizing it will not please Term.
I send it anyway.

"The world is fighting Islamic, terrorism, starvation, and decease but Democrats are fighting for men to pee in the ladies room. Insanity"

Kind of sums it up.

1:25 Every once in a while someone puts a pitch right in my wheelhouse, Thanks.
You want it summed up?

First the last time you Republicans were in charge 2,977 Americans were murdered on 911 not me making that claim but the standard bearer of the GOP Donald Trump.
Further
This country went into an ill-conceived war in Iraq with an American death toll of 4,486 a HUGE mistake of a war. Again not me saying that but the person that will be your Presidential nominee this year Donald Trump.

After 911 "I don't think about him much" the terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden not me saying that but Bush.
So then
This Democratic Black President arrived and had the guts to pull the trigger, that might have ended him as a President but choose to kill Osama bin laden.
What should you learn from this?
That Democrat's can do more then one thing at a time.

Back in the day someone questioned "we have the threat of Communism, a war in Vietnam, worldwide hunger and starvation and all that concerns the Democrat's is voter rights for Black Americans?" Been there done that!

Term,
I think as you age, I think you are losing touch with reality.
1) A Republican was in the White House on 9/11 but do YOU really think the party of the President had anything to do with what occurred? If you do, I have some swamp for you in Kansas.
2) I will admit to a poorly conceived war in the Middle East and, like you, I blame it on the biggest doofus (ever) in the White House. However, the current President did nothing until the following election to enhance his chances. BTW, I am still waiting for him to close Gitmo.
3) What would expect him, or any President, to say? You never tip your hand. Look past the words and try to understand the intent.
4) What kind of guts does it take to issue orders from 1000's of miles away? Easy to fight when someone else risks dying. Sure, if it failed he might not have been re-elected but that is not the worst thing in the world.
Bottom line is that you are entitled to your views as am I. In the end, they are all nothing more than politicians and talking heads. They just want to be re-elected to their gravy jobs. In today's world, party makes little to no difference. If you think otherwise, best of luck with your candidates.

1:18.. 1./2. That was not MY intent those statements about 911 were out of Trumps mouth. Myself it made no difference who 's party or who was in the White House.
3.Poor choice of words maybe? "First person I think about in the morning and the last person I think about when I go to bed" Imagine if Obama had said that?
4. Ask Carter how that worked out? The failed Iran rescue. No, pulling the trigger on a mission like that takes guts. In failure imagine what he would have endured?
My point is that no one party or person has all the answer's.
Just a thought, but Trump owes ALL POW's an apology..... will never happen.

Term,
Back to the comment at 1:25, what do you think of the sweeping action of the President yesterday?
Just wondering if you think one person's agenda should override a vote of the people?

At May 13, 2016 at 9:07 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

4:23 sweeping action? It was a suggestion not an executive order.
I expect to get some flack here but I cannot find a coalition between Trans gender's and being a pedophile? That plus the fact that they have been using the bathroom of their choice for generations. Now if you have proof please share it with us.
Our time might be better spent following people like that uncle in Tennessee?
