Well according to the Saturday News-Herald this man is a Painesvillian?
Headline;

36 YEAR-OLD Juan Manuel Razo Ramirez or what ever he's calling himself this week?
You remember the person who went on a crime spree last summer and raped, murdered one victim. Shot another in front of her children as well as an attempted rape of his niece. And probably took a few shots at Sheriff deputies also.
He was facing the death penalty? Wonder what changed everyone's mind?
The headline should have read;
MEXICAN NATIONAL ILLEGALLY IN AREA PLEADS GUILTY
This man was a ticking time bomb unleashed on out community by an Hispanic community who failed to notify authorities. Period.
Wonder what changed the Prosecutor's plea change?
It seemed like a simple open and closed case.
I myself oppose the death penalty but I don't think a kind heart had anything to do with it?
Did we want a quick ending to this before we dragged the Lake County Sheriff's Department or ICE into a courtroom? So as citizens see how inefficient we do our jobs around here?
No let's clear the docket and move on.
One thing that bothered me. When Judge John R. O'Donnell questioned Razo if he understood the charges as well as the sentencing consequences Razo answered "A year of probation?" through his interpreter. Judge O'Donnel was correct to question that the defendant may not be ready to admit guilt.
Something tells me in a few years a defense attorney may read those court transcripts and deem that Razo deserves at least a new trial. Haste makes waste.
Back to my headline point you can't call someone a Painesville man if he isn't even a citizen of these United States. And sadly this all might have been avoided if everyone had done their jobs.
Police Chief Anthony Powalie claims Painesville gets a bad rap. Well we get plenty of help.

It isn't like we can't screw enough up on our own.
I have to think that you are correct, the Prosecutor doesn't want to make the Sheriff's office or ICE look bad for not doing their job. That would be awful!! You might need their help in the future.
Always been like that with the News Herald- Anything bad...blame Painesville.
Look at the police briefs in the paper. How many times does the lead-line say Painesville (man,woman, burglary, arrest of) then into the story it reads the person was homeless. Not all homeless live in Painesville. Or the address is that of township or Concord they still report it as Painesville. Why? I called before and was told that is how the sheriff report read. The News Herald can not or will not differentiate or clarify the story for accurate details. Keep on subscribing.

I believe they didn't want a public trial for many reasons.
Also in The Sunday News-Herald was a great piece on Steele Mansion the celebration of it's first year in operation....
The Mansions success was in spite of the best efforts of some resident's in town to derail the project before it got started.
My best guess is that the prosecutors office may have balanced the feelings of the victims family not to have the gruesome details of the crime broadcast to the general public and allow the family to try to heal as best they can. The plea is for life plus 100+ years which was the m aximum under the charge. The death penalty even if given at the common pleas court would then begin the route of several appeals, each step rehashing the awful crime and putting the family through the pain all over again. As often as not the death penalty is reversed at some level anyway.
6:08 I agree completely of saving the family as well as the other victims not going through the gruesome details.But but at the same time doesn't the public least deserve say a Grand Jury investigation as to how Mr. Razo survived in our town and most importantly how he was found on private property lied about his name and neither the Sheriff's department or ICE wanted him in custody. There a chance this could have been avoided.
Yes in hindsight it easy to find fault.
Without a trial we will never learn the how's as well as the why's.
Plus as I look at his picture in the paper I see very little remorse for his actions. Confusion? Is he even a stable person?
I just feel this is all far from over.
I'm afraid this is just another case of picking up the rug and getting the broom out!
Its kind of funny you want all these details. You often speak positive of the illegals taking over but bottom line the man, along with thousands in Painesville and millions in this country are here illegally. Stop the illegal immigration, amnesty and anchor babies and there is a big step in the right direction. Along with the forgotten wall that was supposed to be built after 9/11 when we had a strong department of homeland security and the funds back then to begin it.

Term certainly doesn't need any help but you need to learn the difference in what he says and what you THINK he says.
I can't remember ever hearing him say anything "positive of the illegals taking over".
What he has said is that people need to be realistic about what really can be done about them.
That is kind of a big difference from what you seem to think he said.

I was confused with the mention of Homeland Security? I must have missed something for it seemed the Bush administration was seeking comprehensive immigration?
