" LITTLE THINGS " one direction

And all those conversations/ are the secret's that I keep.....

Yes even I get forgetful at times , ask councilman DeLeone.

What I failed to mention is something I watched our city manager, department heads and employee's participate in last Saturday. No Painesville Pride, no News-Herald around just some people that wanted to make sure people in Painesville had a turkey for Thursday.

Our city manager managed to get donations from different organizations such as the Kiwanis Club and through this 200 turkeys were purchased without city money. People met and the fire station and a small lunch was also provided. I have been told of numerous city employee's who gave their time to make this successful.

It was overwhelming to some, councilman Flock was almost brought to tears of joy over what he witnessed.

Now what made this so special to me was that it came from the heart and was not a publicity stunt.

Yes, I am willing to bet there are many great secret's around town , for that I still believe there might be a future here.

To all of you who participated Saturday , a big thank-you to all!

I used to be all about giving at Christmas even participated in the Clothes- a-Child organization.
I had to quit because of the rules I didn't agree with. If a child want to spend his voucher on only one item, they are allowed? Raised as a child without a big bankroll from my parents we learned to stretch our dollars. Forget one pair of shoes, two dresses, underwear, blouses and jeans. What are we teaching these young people today?
The final straw was when an 11-year-old called home on a cell phone. You have money for a cell phone you don't need me.
Maybe other's can share their experiences?

I help at various locations in various ways all through the year.
I will continue to do so in spite of something mentioned by 3:41 but I will do so because there are a lot of people who need, and appreciate, the help.

My story involves passing out Christmas gifts the last couple of years.
There were families who ask for as many as 7 bikes for their kids. Really, 7 bikes?
And should they get one that was donated as used, but in very good condition, the whining was amazing.
Well, the real story is that they get the gifts and turn around and sell the bikes before the children ever see them.

BTW, there is part of me that has to ask if you can't afford to take care of your children (regardless of the number), why did you have so many? Another argument, of course, but the question needs to be asked.

I guess I am just unaware of this practice, or for that matter is it even the practice of this organization?

3:59: Even the Pope told people recently to have responsible parenting. He said this means that they didn't have to reproduce like rabbits. His words. He said to have what you can afford. They don't have to worry about having too many here, because we pay for them all. I know White Americans who need extra help, but all the places are filled up and pooped out, because of the illegals, who take and take and take.

I can verify what 3:59 says. I have witnessed very similar situations.

8:33 Like the time I got into an argument with a U.S. Marine over Toy's for Tot's only because I watched White and Black children getting trucks and doll's and Hispanic kid's for some odd reason got the bikes?

In todays N/H a shopper for Clothes - for a Child mention sometimes a child will ask for inappropriate clothes? I wonder what that would be?

Just give em what they want. Inappropriate or not, expensive shoes? Why buy 2 or 3 practical pairs when they want the high dollar shoe? Give em games for the game boxes, videos for the big screen hi-def tv. Phones in every stocking. Just give them what they want and they'll keep coming back for more and more.

TERM 10:26, it's the same way with Salvation Army toy giveaway. It is a Mexican woman in charge of the bike distribution and she gives them all to the Mexicans. At least they all get first choice. If there's any left they may give it to a white or black but any Mexican requesting a bike gets one. Even if the kid got one the year before. Crazy!

1:51 Well who's buying the bikes? Do they know? I can't believe this is still going on? When do they give out the presents?

I don't know which Salvation Army you are referring to but I can state with 100% certainty that what you describe did NOT happen in Painesville in 2014. As a matter of fact, there is no one person in charge of bike distribution and it was a man who was the "in charge" person for the overall distribution. The two men who kept track of the bikes were two gentlemen who are roughly 70 years of age. BTW, they do an amazing job with this.
The families fill out a list with their requests (bikes, toys, clothing, whatever) and the Salvation Army personnel try to fill the request as closely as they can.
The bikes are sized as closely as they can be to the age of the child. Since I was involved in this, I can state that those of us who arranged and passed out the bikes (yes, I was one of the folks doing this) had NO idea of the race or age of the children.
My reason for writing this is so that false or misleading info does not get spread. The system might not be perfect but it is not done as you write it is.

I seen a hispanic man pay for groceries at sav-a-lot with a food stamp card than took his groceriess out to a cadillac that wasn't more than 2 or 3 years old, I wanted to follow him to report this but my son said whats the point they hide everything in fake names anyways, I'm not sure but bet avery or lubrizol buys the bikes

A large number of bikes are donated every year by a local company, I think maybe Avery Denison. There has been articles in the paper in the past when they donated. Something like 100-200 bikes.

To the above posters. I can now say with 100% proof the Painesville Salvation Army Christmas is on the up and up! Hope everyone get's a great present.

Now you should apologize for arguing with the Marine. Toys for Tots is a long running program and they are on the level also. I don't know what you saw but they do not play or put any one race above the other either. From one who volunteers.

I knew a White family with two kids. They are just now grown up, so what I witnessed was several years ago. Every year they went to get new bikes from somewhere in town. And every year I watched them abuse the bikes. Get off of them and toss them down instead of using the kickstand, etc. I guess they didn't have to worry, because next year there would be new bikes at no cost for their family or them. I'm not saying this to put down any of the giveaway programs, because that is all just a labor of love, and nothing could be wrong with that, but I say this to point out that any time there is something good, there will always be someone around to take advantage of it. I just always thought that was such a sad situation, because it obviously took bikes from kids who probably didn't have ANY, and because of the horrible lessons it was teaching the kids. They also took advantage of every free place to get Christmas gifts from, and one year they had so many gifts, it was probably sinful. So let's hope that anyone who signs up for free stuff this year actually needs it, and will take what they need for a great holiday, but be sure not to take more than that.

7:01 Do you ever see how children learn from their parents? I guess some believe they are just entitled? The most appreciated things in life are things you work for and earned.

6:02 Not going to happen as a matter of fact a letter from Arlington Va. was sent to me thanking me for bringing this to their attention. My problem wasn't with the Marines as I believe they were doing all this out of the goodness of their hearts. The problem was HOLA and VD hijacked the program in Painesville. And my purpose was to inform people who they were dealing with. I think this was back in 2009. Need I say more?

6 years ago? Then why bring it up in the first place? You made it seem like it just happened along with the other complaints.

Moved to tears? Just how long was Mr Flock in attendance during this fundraiser? He made an appearance maybe for 10 minutes and left. I guess that's long enough to shed some tears and leave? Did he stay to participate? Maybe he had elsewhere to go but tears? Really?

At December 6, 2015 at 8:28 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

well, I know he was there for more then 10 minutes, just maybe Andrew was saddened by the number of people needing this in Painesville? Maybe he wonders what he might have done in the last 20 years to change this situation?
Myself I believed we should have given out more plaques and spent more on our downtown?
Just maybe a personal reflection.
I did reflect to him he caused little damage to Painesville. Not like some that have recently left council or the administration.

At December 6, 2015 at 2:06 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Right. Flock caused little damage? And he also did little to help. And how much damage do you think was done to the citizens of Painesville because he was so useless at his job, but stayed for decades taking a paycheck? He's good at play-acting the nice guy. In reality, he has hurt this city a lot by not doing his job, and many people are very happy to see him go. I know you like to attack people over their displeasure of Flock, so go for it, but I don't know anyone besides you who won't be happy to see him go. You can sing his praises all you want, but he was useless to most of the citizens in his ward, and useless to most of the citizens of Painesville. Glad to see him go, as his replacement really can't be any worse. And it's about time.

Thank Goodness Flock is almost out. Let's home his replacement actually does something for the citizens of her ward, unlike Flock.

2:06/7:25 Andy doesn't need me, his reputation proceeds him. Many are thankful for what he has done and tried to do. My thoughts and prayers are for Mrs. Shoop soon she will have to deal with you! I have no advise on how?

That's right...attack the citizens who are unhappy with your boyfriend Flock, like you always do. You can't change history. Everyone I have known here for 25 years or so thinks he's a hypocrite who pretends to be a nice guy and a good councilperson, but really has a bad heart, and has shirked his duties since he got here. Again, thank Goodness he is finally stepping down, and you can be as nasty as you want, it doesn't change how glad people are to see him go.

Yeah what an attack! Soon I expect to be hearing about my girlfriend Christine? What I have noticed nothing will please you ask the guy who left you?

At December 8, 2015 at 7:00 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

4:47, what are you talking about, and who are you talking to? First of all, you seem to be in competition with someone, so you mention your girlfriend, which has nothing to do with anything, and you even give her name?!! Funny. Bragging? To whom; who would care? And secondly, who's guy left who? There seems to be many on this site who are unhappy with Flock, so who do you think you are talking to, and who cares if you have a girlfriend or not? I personally have never had a man leave me of his own accord, and what do boyfriends and girlfriends or husbands and wives have to do with anything here? Again, bragging? To whom? People have been unhappy with your friend Flock for decades, as he refused to stand down, and THAT'S what this is about. But you can go ahead and brag about your girlfriend if you want; I just don't know who cares to hear about it. Here's your MO...someone says they are unhappy with Flock; you go into full attack; soon you will be vicious and nasty; then you'll realize that you showed some of your true colors in public; then you'll start mentioning God in your posts to try to cover it up. You probably just keep mentioning Flock now, so you can get in some good attacks on the people who have been unhappy with his hypocritical butt all these decades before he's gone for good. But you've got a girlfriend named Christine, so good for you; you're obviously very proud of that fact.

Oh.....or maybe he doth protest too much??? Someone mentioned Flock was your boyfriend, so you go straight into bragging about your girlfriend, Christine, and talking about someone else's man leaving them, when you have no idea what you are talking about or to whom? Anything you'd like to get off your chest?

Term 4:47. What in the world are you talking about. People are voicing their displeasure over Flock, and all of a sudden you are talking about your girlfriend for some unknown reason, and talking about the posters' personal lives? Problems, man, as I've said before about your behavior on this issue...you've got problems. You had better shut it down, your freak flag and your abusive flag are flying high. Let it go already. Nobody liked Flock except for a handful of people BECAUSE HE DIDN'T DO HIS JOB. Get over it.

7:00/5;49 To everyone but these two (could be one) Now you know why I enjoy this blog! Unbelievable.

Nothing to get off my chest... But something to get out of my A##!

You called Andy my boyfriend?

So I called the new councilwoman my girlfriend'!

As I expected she will be on your s#^t list in about six months? My thoughts and prayers are with you Christine can't wait for you to get the first call!

10:08: That's right, you always did blame the fact that Flock never did his job on the people in his ward, so nothing new there, but nobody buys that besides you. And him.

P.S. Sorry you have things in your A##! Really, truly sorry, man.
