"SCHOOL NEWS"

Let's call this a quick hitter!

Looking for good news?

Monday morning around ten Fox 8 will visit T &T Bakery in Painesville . Seems the Bakery's  Italian Bread is getting quite a reputation!

It has come to my attention that recently a young 22 year old man has been helping out with Harvey's Tennis Team.

The problem is the person helping out is a sexual predator. Yes a Pedophile.

Now no sexual contact occurred but when the school, the administration, as well as the Painesville Police investigated the threat was removed. They should all be commended for their quick response.

In the past an incident like this might have been swept under the rug but not this time.

It's a different world we live in today and many changes have taken place. A few weeks ago a child I didn't know I mentioned she had a nice bike. The child's face grew with fear. Run danger, danger. I asked my daughter and she mentioned you can't talk to children anymore. How sad we have come to this, and at the same time I know why.

I guess Congress decided they can't shut the country down, let's just shutdown Congress?
What's that about who puts Party first?

Anonymous 10:26 Have no idea and either do you. I'm glad you think this matter is so humorous? Jokes!

I heard a rumor. I hope it is a false rumor. That the Bomb Threat Suspect that was caught last March has returned to Harvey High School. Please tell me this is false.

I'm pretty sure he was just hanging around, and not helping out...even volunteers have to be vetted and have to go through the background checks, and have their pupil activity permit....

1:08 I don't have a clue. The key word in your question was "Suspect" unless he has been charged and convicted that's all that person is.

3:40 He/She is not to be anywhere near a school. Hanging around getting student's phone number's and e-mails seems to be over the line. Don't you agree?

You can't be too careful and you can't trust ANYONE around your kids. ANY ONE. Sad but true. Best time to talk to a child is in the company of someone in their family. When people get to be our age TERM, they would like to act grandfatherly towards children. Still dangerous.

Story in the paper, 82 year old family member from the sound of it, arrested for raping a 4 year old.

Found out a couple years ago that a young man I KNEW was a pedophile, worked/helped out at the YMCA for a time. This happened 20 years ago. Also, I was too young to understand, but I witnessed a pedophile at work, working at the high school. When the word got out, he was also out.

Parents, KNOW where your children are at all times and check up on them. Sneak, spy, it's your job.

Hey Term,

I an unrelated note,

Why don't you take a drive by the recreation office...the new "director" is getting all new office furniture, and throwing the rest away. Get a load of the dumpster in the driveway-do a little dumpster diving... Someone in the next building told me that. What-the office furniture that Lee had wasn't good enough? Council approved spending my tax dollars so that an unqualified person can have new stuff? Get to the bottom of it...I know you can! It's a double whammy-lets appoint someone who is not even close to qualified coupled with the fact that she gets all new furniture. Things like this are why Painesville will never get ahead...

4:54 Sad but true.
4:01 Totally unrelated, I have sent an inquire to City Hall. Odd it's seems like throwing gasoline on a fire? What was wrong with the old furniture.

This is another example why we need more transparence along with more involvement of Council, but what do I know. Only that it's not their money.
Sincerely this is disheartening to say the least.
Nobody else could use the furniture so it goes in a dumpster?

I wonder if anyone on council will ask?

If the new unqualified parks and recreation director wants new furniture to nest in let her purchase her own. $73,000 for what being unqualified. Waste Management even picks it all up at residents cost.
Council's a waste.

Seriously, You didn't tell 4:01 to inquire themselves at city hall? When someone is not in a position to go knocking on doors you have no problem going to bat for some but you sure pick and choose. It was suggested the city managers evaluation should be posted. No to that. It was asked you check into Harvey. Not as squeaky clean as they claim. Now this dirt comes out? What happened a few weeks ago when kids were detained and checked with a metal detector? You keep your head in the sand because anything is better than Kim Martin right? There is more than meets the eye going on there. Keep it in the sand with the new CM because anyone is better then Rita. I sure hope you know how to come up for a breath of air!

Correspondence between the city manager and me'

Mr. Carson I have been a strong supporter of you since you became CM. as you know I have the Painesville blog. This morning I received a comment about the new parks & recreation director replacing all office furniture in her office? I respect your choice, but many here don't. Do you believe it was a wise decision at this time? (The furniture) What was wrong with the old furniture? My only point is why throw gas on the fire? It seems some in that department want this person and yourself to fail. Please waiting for a reply.

Angelo

The reply;

Mr. Cimaglio

The decision to replace the furniture was made by me. The furniture was old, falling apart and not functional. The same analysis of furniture and what equipment is needed occurred whenever we have a new Director appointed to their position. The replacement furniture being bought is used.. Ensuring that staff members have the appropriate tools to effectively do their jobs is my responsibility. I am confident that Ms. LaPuma will be successful in making this department the best in the County. Thank you for your interest and support of the City.

When congress is shut down;
They don't spend our taxes on pork.
They don't over burden our nation with MORE regulation,
They can go home and listen to their constituents.

When Ms LaPuma was employed in the human resource office, she was the one given cart blanch to re-do several offices at that time. Offices were torn apart for painting and carpeting not that long ago. Where did all this money come from? When she was made the CM's secretary, what was done to that office? What Ms. White had for years wasn't good enough? Now another complete overhaul for yet another department head? No wonder he likes to fire people - time to redecorate and spend more of my money?
The other post made sense, the furniture from Lee just wasn't good enough? Its an office for Park & Rec. most of her time should be spent outdoors. What's next? A new four-wheel drive Cadillac to get around in?

Just so you're aware, staff has been on guard and fully aware of this "predator"! Please, let it be known a situation like this would never be swept under the rug. If you have any concerns about security guards or resource officers being paid to keep our students safe and secure then volunteer your time to help out. Thanks for your concern but, I feel plenty in this community could start stepping up in a more positive-productive way other than to point out all the negatives and sit back and gripe and do nothing to change it.

3:25 OK let's shut it down not have a transportation bill layoff all those construction workers. Fail to raise the debt ceiling see how that works.I don't get it you elect people to kill government? Sure who needs any regulation enjoy that steak if it is steak?
6:40 asked and answered now you go ask.
Ms. Atwell so how many practices did this predator attend? How many phone numbers did he collect? Now how aware were you?
So many things have been swept under the rug it's comical you even brought the subject up? Seems many were aware of the last sexual incident and chose to stay quiet and didn't say a word.

Just to remind you your staff administration even the BOE doesn't own this school system and I remind you it is owned by the residents of Painesville who pay for the whole show and are concerns and questions need to be addressed properly.
Maybe we could be more positive if there was more positive? What do you suggest should have been done with this latest situation? Ignore it?

Janet Atwell..... Swept under the rug; David Klingenberg and Todd Hartman. We have been down this road before and you bet things were swept under the rug.

I don't find anything about the subject comical. Period! Don't ever suggest I would ignore. I volunteer many extra hours to help better the community to the best of my ability. My point being, to let anyone that reads this blog know, staff of PCLS, is aware and on guard. I also believe my suggestion was that our community can also be helpful by looking out for the students in the community. If the students see more of this, feel safer, see that we care, have pride and gain respect in our community members then we could possibly see an attitude change from them too. Give respect and care to gain it back.

Let me clarify: "Now" that staff is aware and will be on watch before, after,at extra curricular and sporting events. It's not like this incident was known to all of the community at once, ignored or swept under the rug. From my understanding, due to caring watchful eyes, questions arose about the individual which was found out to be a pedophile. Thank you to whomever for reporting and the swift action of the Painesville Police Dept.!!

Term,

3:25 here. My comment is a common reaction to shutting down Washington. When the government gets shut down, they can't spend as much. They can spend, just not as much. So the president being a politician shuts down the parks and all high profile departments he can to make it painful. Its political, not common sense frugality you and I would practice.

Oh yes, we do over regulate, big time.

At October 11, 2015 at 8:25 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

Ms. Atwell did you even read the post? What you said was what I posted?
Look thank-you for your many hours of volunteer work you do. Just keep your eyes open.

3:25 It's odd how many people vote for people to shut the government down? My point don't pass a Transportation Bill and watch the layoffs. Don't raise the debt ceiling and you better get all your money out of the stock market. I think if someone doesn't blink soon we will find out. When that happens who do we blame? 40 Congressman that believe they should run the country?

At October 11, 2015 at 9:04 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Seems Ms. Atwell doesn't agree with you? Odd how she completely ignored your questions? Either she doesn't know or doesn't want to share them with you?
Was there a report issued to the press? Why or why not?
I hope she is aware that many of us don't buy into the "we were aware and on top of the situation."
Questioned how did they find out?

At October 11, 2015 at 3:21 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

9:04 are you saying nobody knew till it hit social media? Imagine the shock of the employees that found it elsewhere before an announcement was made to staff.
As for shutting down the government, I may not be understanding this but if I recall the last shut down. After it happened all the employees (parks, etc) still got paid didn't they? So whats the point?

At October 11, 2015 at 6:05 PM , Anonymous Janet Atwell said...

Actually quite opposite. I'm in agreement with Term about the post of getting the info out there and for the quick actions. And please dont insert words that I never typed! Never did I say "We were aware and top of the situation" If you must know, I found out through a FB post. I have no answer to how many practices, phone numbers exchanged, texts, emails... Which is why I didn't answer those questions. Anonymous, I wasn't ignoring, there was no need for me to reply to questions that I don't have an answer and it's frustrating that you twist words. Do you answer to questions that you don't know? I was trying to be positive here. Wow, thanks for the warm welcome.

Janet, welcome to Anonymous world. Believe me you got off easy.
"Just so you are aware, the staff was on guard and fully aware of this predator" I think that's what made 9:04 to go off. Keep your eyes open and honestly after your comment I'm glad your there.

3:21 Well I didn't? But I believe social media is what caused this all to come to light. Maybe a student checked into a Facebook account and went to the authorities with what they found out?
Myself I'm glad it was found out before any real damage was done.
