"GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD" elton john

So goodbye yellow brick road
Where the dogs of society howl
It'll take you a couple of vodka and tonics
To set you on your feet again.

It was a cold March night when Andy invited me over to his house to watch March Madness.
As we settled down his wife Marge entered the room and sat down. Andy looked at me and told me under no circumstances would he seek another election as Ward I councilman. See we had this conversation almost four years ago and I was able to talk him out of his decision four years ago. But it was explained to me no way this time.

Andy has served as a city councilman for twenty years and he feels that's more then enough. Andy might never have been the most  efficient councilperson but he was the most honest. Never did he use his position as a stepping stone or personal gains. His only purpose was the welfare of the residents of Painesville. In his ward or another. Never wanting a higher government position he was more than happy to serve the people of Painesville.

I believe two things had the most reason for his decision; Streetscape, as well as the rest of council not wanting or willing to get to the bottom of AMP-OHIO electric deals. He knew in his heart spending 1.3 million on the downtown project was a waste of money and that  in those electric deals were so  far from estimates it was to the point of fraud. That he seemed the only one who cared.

Andy never said as much but he was working with a very dysfunctional council and at the same time believing in the new city manager.

As we sat I asked him if there was a project he believed he could accomplish between now and the end of the year? Yes, as being in Ward I his goal was to make the Railroad Station an Historical area.
Seems that has happened and many new people are getting involved. Also he was ready for a fight after watching the blowback that happened with Steele Mansion.

So for sure we will have a new councilperson in Ward I next year I have already been supportive of Renee Aston. I hope you take the time to listen to her vision and thoughts of Painesville.

Again Andy thanks for you honesty and service you will be missed. Enjoy your family and everything in life.

Amazing, dysfunctional council?!!
Do you/Flock believe in Karma? Or what goes around comes around? Do unto others, etc.? I remember sitting at meetings and the way he treated Ms. Mahon. Now the shoe is on the other foot now. Shoe's on the other foot, how does it feel now?

Whether he was right or wrong, you never had much trouble understanding where he stood on an issue.
Could there be someone who might have been a better Councilman? Maybe but, there again, maybe not.
All we can ask for is honesty in our elected officials and, sadly, it is lacking in many if not most of them.
They all seem to have an agenda and this is one step along the way.
Proof of that is the current Ward 3 Councilperson who wants the Municipal Judgeship so bad he can taste it. In the mean time he talks a lot and yet says very little.
Good or bad, thanks for your time Andy.
Time to enjoy the back nine of life.

He will not be missed by any but a handful of people. Good riddance; it's about time. And honest?...

After Andy gets the bad taste of politics out of his system, it will STILL be a pleasure as always to bump into Andy around town.

This is 10:21 and before you make accusations, you REALLY need to know what you are talking about.
I can assure you that I am not Term.
Nice try though.

Please quit using the term honest when it comes to Flock. The words hypocrite and phony fit much better. At least he just showed a few of his true colors with his attack on one of our citizens, the judge, in public. And then he lied about the letter. That's who he really is. Maybe now Ward 1 can finally get some representation, and it's about time. He really can't be out soon enough. And who's calling Term "the worm?" That's funny and fitting, I must say. Both men put on such a phony good-guy act that it's no wonder they're friends and think each other is wonderful.

1:32 Please prove or give examples of Flocks dishonesty. I see him in an entirely different light. Did he ever get elected and at the first chance attempt to bolt for a state job? Did he or his family ever benefit from him being on council? He every lie or steal anything? Did he ever waste a million dollars downtown? Did he ever lie about the purpose and reason a building was built? Did he ever forgive half the debt of permits for the schools, even with the knowledge that the state would pick up 75% of the cost? Shot your mouth off all you want but most of us would like a little proof?

Here's a hint Mike Deleone has a better chance of being a supreme court justice than a Painesville judge. Shades od Dinallo? What a dishonest attempt to fool people?
Here's a hint to Mr. Deleone we have an attorney representing council his name is Joe Gurley. Your job is councilman not another lawyer. If you want to be law director apply for that job.

Ward 1 is finally going to be free of Flock? I certainly hope we get someone who actually intends to do their job now that Flock will be out. There was a man who had some interest at one point, and I think he would be great. His name was Richard. Richard, are you still out there? Richard?

Give it up, 10:49, your cause is already lost. Flock has an outburst at a council meeting and trashes a citizen over a letter. When asked about his outburst, he says, as an excuse for his outburst that he doesn't like people being threatened. We get a copy of the letter, and nobody was threatened. That means he lied. People who lie are called liars. Sorry. Your case is already lost.

I wonder if Mr. Dobrzenieski feels that way? No one lied the witch wanted his job. Wonder who she believes she is?

Is it just me, or did anyone else noticed that Flock's good buddy Term helped him get under the bus. Flock got verbally abusive to/about a citizen at a council meeting. Then Term tells us that Flock says his reason for doing that was because there was a threat in the letter that the citizen sent, and Term vows to get a copy of the letter. When we see a copy of the letter, we then see that Flock lied about there being a threat in the letter. It just seems a little set-up to me. What happened?...did you boys have a little falling out, so one buddy saw his friend had himself halfway under the bus on his own accord, so the other one finished shoving him under? I'm not saying that Flock didn't deserve it... quite the opposite, and I'm glad to see him exposed, but the exposure does seem like the kind of sick little game that Term would orchestrate and enjoy. Are you having a little spat, boys?

5:18 One more time Flock did not appreciate the Judge wanting the city employees salary to be used to fix a street. Most agree this was a threat on the employees job.

Sorry no spat or sick little games only the truth.

Other than Flock and yourself no one else viewed it as a threat but rather the remarks of a frustrated taxpayer. Can't say that many of us don't feel the same way.

5:58 You just might be wrong. Myself I would expect more from the letter writer.

How about Flock's focus should have been on what the judge was complaining about in the letter. For instance, they tagged her property that should have been left alone. And they said they could come back any time during the year without her knowledge, permission or supervision and trespass on her property and groom her property and send her a bill for however much they wanted. There is a big problem here with the way the city was doing business with her, and there is a big problem with the way the city does business. Anyone who picks out one tongue-in-cheek sentence to say they would expect more from the letter writer and say it was a threat against someone's job is just ridiculously off track (Flock/Term). Is Flock dealing with the issues the judge brought up in the letter? No, I didn't think so.

WHomever goes around checking this stuff out needs to step it up. There are many places in need of mowing, painting, etc. Not sure why Ms. Lawson was singled out, perhaps a vengeful neighbor but come on - LOOK around and fine the other properties that REALLY DO NEED to be taken care of.
