"BEAUTIFUL" christina aguilera

"Well by the sheer number of cars yesterday Steele Mansions grand Opening was a success"

Well this post for the most part is yours, what did you think?

A few years ago when Carol and Art Shamakian and Family hatched this plan of a  "Golden Egg"
of a restoration of the Steele Mansion there were many skeptics. If you viewed the mansion at the time of their purchase you might understand why.

They have done a magnificent job on this project of love.

Now you tell us what you think?

I think and I've been checking our local paper and haven't seen anything about this beautiful piece of history in this town. Why not? Is it being saved for another day or is it because something good happened here?

3:32 Time will tell. I do know the Shamakians don't need the publicity.
The are proud of what they have accomplished.

As well should our local newspaper. No publicity? I'm not sure it will or will not appear at a later date but it is something many people feel was news worthy. Of course in their usual fashion - it only makes the paper if it's bad news for Painesville, front page if its really bad. There have been numerous happenings here with no reporting on it at all. What's going on? Did they get the gag order too??

re 3:32--I believe over the past couple of years there have been numerous articles in the News Herald and even a big one in the Plain Dealer travel section earlier this spring about the Steele Mansion. They've already been hosting many events for months. The Grand Opening was, I believe, merely a formality, which was planned for Steele Mansion patriarch George Steele's 191st birthday. Whatever, I will the Shamakians much success in this endeavor. They serve as they kind of role models Painesville needs! Too bad someone like them wasn't around 40 years ago when all the politicians destroyed half of Downtown!!

3:32 Just do an internet search on Steele Mansion and poof, its all there. Nice pictures and all.

Also, The entire news herald, as printed, is available for a pittance, on line also. Obits, ad's, the whole enchilada. If they ever cover the Mansion, the pictures are much better on the screen than newsprint.

If you have trouble seeing, the new wide computer screens available allow you to layout the paper and make it BIG. No more magnifying glass.

Thanks for the info, I subscribe to the paper and don't need to subscribe on line too especially if there is never anything in the paper to read about. Why would I pay twice for nothing? My young eyes are fine, no need for reading glasses let alone a magnifying glass. My point was, and maybe you got it, maybe you didn't, something with all the hoopla could have been reported on. Heck, a principal in a dunk tank made it but where was the paper when it happened here 2 weeks ago?
And yes, what happened 40 years ago was a shame. Too bad no one stopped it. Remember the survey that was sent out to residents? This is an "up and coming town". What? What happened to the town it used to be and why is it up and coming when it was something before?

Thank you so much to the Shamakian's for preserving this monumental structure for Painesville and for all the world. Here's one for the good guys. To think this structure almost didn't make it but for them... It's beautiful. Thank you for saving it.

Hey 5:38, my comment didn't have anything to do with yours. I had just driven by the structure and again noticed what a beautiful asset it was. I was feeling very grateful for the owners who have fought the city and everyone else that they had to to make it happen, so I thought I would mention here how happy I was they have done all that they have done.

So no offense taken and none meant. Best regards to you, too.
