" DO YOU REMEMBER" phil collins

Well I did find Mr. Gerken comment ;

TO: AMP Prairie State Participants
FROM:  Marc S. Gerken PE
President  & CEO
DATE: May 15,2015
RE: Danville media coverage

Some  of you may have seen a recent article appearing in the Danville Virginia Register and Bee regarding a recent meeting of the Danville Utility Board. I was invited to address the board regarding power supply and the utility's  in various AMP generation projects.

A quote from me appeared in the article has caused some confusion and understandable concern from other AMP member communities  participating in the Prairie State project. I wanted to take this opportunity to explain my comments and provide some context to the discussion.

The quote from me indicating I "wouldn't do it again" was taken out of context and has thus created confusion. I was speaking as an AMP CEO and responding to a question as to what lessons had been learned. When saying I would do things differently, I was referring to being a part of an owners group with eight other entities having a say in plant operations, which can present governance issues. This as many of you has been a frustration for AMP for some time. I went on to point out that we weren't having these issues with the AMP Fremont Energy Center, where we have complete operational control of the facility.

Obviously, we continue to have concerns regarding plant performance, but I am encouraged by the
the operational improvements and improved performance at Prairie State and remain confident  in the current management team. The plant's operating indicators showed marked improvement in the first months of  this year and while we had some forced outages, Unit I had 92 percent availability in March and Unit II achieved 95.5 percent availability in April. I believe the plant remains a strong long-term investment and look forward to continued improvements in the coming months. If you have additional questions or wish to discuss this or other AMP projects further, please contact me.

Sorry I'm not buying this at all. No confusion for me.

So what did Mr. Gerkens tell us? To many cook's in the kitchen at PSEC? The relationship with Peabody Energy? Did AMP even consider the problems that comes with eight different owners?

Unit I operated at 92% in March, what did Unit II run at in March? Unit II operated at 95.5% in April what did Unit I run at in April? Please the whole story don't cherry-pick the results.

Please don't misunderstand this question the I pose to AMP it in no way measures up to the cost in lives and treasure this country faced in the Iraq War, So we will call this the looking back question.

Mr. Gerkens looking back to 2007  if you knew then what you know now in 2015, would you have recommended the Prairie State Project to AMP participating communities that have suffered from a little to a lot by your recommendation?

I know it's a trick question, if he answer's yes then he looks like a fool for this  recommending this foolish  50 year investment. If he says no then it appears AMP see's no problems with the AMP communities involved paying double the electric prices and enduring the hardships that they are.

In a perfect world I wish Council Lady DiNallo could bring Mr. Gerken to Painesville to answer that question.

It, seems Mrs. Dinallo has even better contacts then you? Letter was dated May 15, and she talked about it on the 18th.

Is that Prairie State coal behind the electric plant?

11:19 I thought about that too? Came to the conclusion she might be watching this closer than I thought. Good for her.

No that's just debris from city projects, although I bet it burns about the same btu?

If you were smart Term, you would check the PAC money and donations given to the governor and attorney general by Amp? Somebody bought their silence. Along with someone on council.

Yes, 10:40, where are the investigations into these companies, and where are the investigations into the people who were in power in our city at the time? We do already know that people in other cities were rewarded, do we not? One got a college scholarship for their child, for example, didn't they? And I had never thought of your point as to where WERE the people in power who should have been watching over these abominations when our city leaders were voting yes while all the citizens were telling them no. And, by the way, Rita McMahon, former city manager, will you please get out of here and away from anything that has to do with our city, and will our city leaders please stop giving her any damn power or say over what happens to our city? Don't you think she's done enough to us? I mean, what in the hell is going on here, and who is connected to whom, and how, that she is still around and screwing us?

I can't speak for AMP-OHIO but Peabody Energy Company contributed $46 million in Ohio and 73 percent went to the Republican Party. Something to think about?

Our former city manager is in betted in Painesville and although she has many detractors she has many loyal fans.

You all just don't get it. You gripe, pout and shout no fair when council elections take place and the voters speak. Because it's not Your choice, you get upset? That's a democracy people. Don't like it? Move to a country without democracy. Don't like the fact McMahon or others are still involved here? Get your independent company involved and maybe you'd stand a chance. What's that, Oh you don't have a company to compete? If you don't like it do something about it. Run for council, the school board, commissioner, department committees - Make a change starting with yourself. Or just wallow in pity here. You Decide.

8:55 Oh, we get it. Seems it's also our RIGHT to complain, or would you like to take care of not letting us do that?

Run for office? The system is rigged. How can I claim that? Every city election for council is held in an "off" year. Check it out in those years when council elections take place there is no Presidential election, Senate or Congress elections even county commissioners and judges. Why doesn't the city want to have elections in those years. Please prove me wrong. That may not be an excuse to you but it makes for a small minority voting in elections. Wonder what would happen in a real election year?

It is time for the former city manager to move on. Look how many of her contracts come from the private sector? I thought see retired? Or did she leave just as the walls were about to crumble?
Then again who have you heard wallow in pity?
I love democracy just not your brand.
Can't wait to hear her plans for the Senior Center? I hope she's doing that gratis.

For $10,000 I can show you how to make Downtown Painesville look like its thriving? First I would call Macy's and Kohl's and buy used mannequin's to sit on all those unused benches on Main St. Streetscape. This would work with the bright idea that lets make the storefronts look like a business. That would make sense for the mannequins fake stores fake people and throw in some fake money. Now who was the genius who hatched that streetscape idea?

TERM 4:40, get off your high horse and quite implying the Republicans are the evil ones who are responsible for every bad thing on this earth. First, look at the council and other key city figures that got us in this mess. McMahon is Democrat. Horvath is democrat. Gurley is Democrat. Becks is Democrat. I could go on and on. Most of Painesville is Democrats.

Who's worse, the person that initiated it or the person that fired the contractors, lost potential future government grant finds, cost taxpayers almost 5 times the initial cost?
Sorry but anyone with a business can do what Ms. McMahon is doing. Just because she retired from you and your problem children doesn't mean she still can't hold a job. Many people do.
System is rigged so you wont run for council? You can't be serious. Not sure but that seems paranoid to me. I have heard your bud Mr. Flock won't be running again, gotta wonder who's going to make big changes for the North end. Can't wait.

10:22 I think you missed my point and if Democrats were in charge I would make the same accusations. We have a Republican governor, a Republican attorney general, the Ohio House and Senate are controlled by Republicans and yet what 60 Ohio communities are being literally being raped on this AMP contract and yet not a peep?

1:03 The person who hired the contractor who then failed miserably. I'd like to see where you get your facts?
Far from paranoid just it's a screwy voting pattern. Wonder all you want I know who I'm voting for.

4:38 He was one of the key reasons as we followed him into the Abyss. Our votes and money and his idea.

You are absolutely correct, she can still hold a job if that is what she chooses to do.
However, given the stellar track record, it should never be a job involving public (spelled taxpayers) money.
Maybe she could get a "real" job somewhere? You know, one where you actually have to do something or produce something for your pay. That would be very different from getting paid for "work" simply because you know someone or because you scratched their back in the past.
Just an idea.
