"GREEN GREEN GRASS OF HOME" elvis presley

"Painesville the city of high grass and fake red brick sidewalks"

Quickly lets get to the Monday  Night Meeting.

First council had a proclamation for Elder Abuse Awareness Day.

We also recognized Officer Thompson and Officer Tycast for saving a residents life using CPR.

Legislation 1.2.3. left on first reading all having to do with the R2 to R1 frontage.

Resolution Adopting the Tax Budget for 2016. Passed.

Tony Torre questioned the high grass around city as well as First Energy property.

Mr. Shamakian invited Painesville residents to the open house tomorrow.

The Vice-President of the Railroad Museum made a quick presentation. I asked him after the meeting what size crowd they were expecting . Answer 3,500 to 5,000 plus for the two day event.

I questioned why the contractor ordinance were tabled and why? Councilman DeLeone answered he asked for some information from the city and hadn't received it yet. First Reading on this legislation was April 6,2015.

Councilman Flock asked if Mr. Gerken CEO of AMP-OHIO could come to a council meeting to explain his remarksabout Prairie State.

The City Engineer explained how the selection and funds were acquired to fix our streets this year.
over  2 million in Federal, State and Local funds.

Now for the part that makes coming to these meeting worthwhile. Grass Mowing Violations.

Council Lady Mrs. DiNallo brought up a point that the city had sent out 200 letters of mowing violations and one resident was very upset with the one she received. Law Director Gurley questioned who the resident that complained was? Well it seems Juvenile Judge Karen Lawson disputed her letter. All I can say about the Judge she has done a wonderful job with the Juvenile Court System in Lake County. I believes she wants a letter of apology from the city? Now I drive by the Judges house at least three times a week and I have never seen high grass? But the house is surrounded by hedges. The city manager personally visited with here and yet Council Lady DiNallo wants what? All city council people received the a letter from the Judge and paraphrasing here Councilman Flock was upset because the Judge claimed she ""can't wait to move out of the city to a city where residents were treated with dignity. Councilman Flock was very offended with the letter and said he would never apologize. Along with the statement he would help her box up her stuff. Something tells me this ain't over.

Now what process does the city have to send these letters out? Do they take a picture of the property in question? Do they explain in the letter what recourse you can take if you disagree with the letter? These are a couple of things that should be done. In finishing I do not expect a letter of apology.

Seems as if we discussed something like this with Waste Management Billing WM claims an address owes $195.00 in pass due payments and the city just puts a lien on your property? Do you even get a hearing do you even know?

To finish on a somewhat good note I was shopping at Marc's today when an elderly man collapsed into a pop display. I immediately called 911 and checked on the man. I could see he was breathing and I did not see blood. One minute later firefighter Mahoney from the Painesville City  Fire Department arrived at the scene. He was shopping in the store at the time. He knew exactly what to do until EMS from the township arrived at the scene. People always say there's never a cop around when you need one, but thanks today there was a firefighter.

I was also informed the flower watering on Sunday are due to Pam Morse of Morse Moving & Furniture store and she pays her employees to do the watering.

and who is Councilperson DiNallo boss? None other than the good judge! Sometimes the best results are to leave sleeping dogs lie.

5:45 APOLOGIZE? Do you know the full contents of the letter? I asked Councilman Flock if he was "pissed" at that statement in the letter, he only explained there was more then that in the letter and didn't share it with me. I will take him at his word and if any on council feel a need to share the letter do it.
So if you don't know the contents your premature in asking for an apology.
I will give Judge Lawson credit for at least signing her letter and not hiding behind Anonymous like a certain commenter.

9:17 When do the "Your house need painting" violations start?

Seems petty , but if worded corrected. reminding a resident that his grass needs to be mowed shouldn't be a big deal. Treated with dignity? Define that please. Your neighbors aren't notified are they.

(I deleted the remainder of your comment unless you can show proof of that accusation. Sorry)

I have to believe that the LD knew who the complaint was from. His was a lame attempt to make a fellow attorney look bad, in public. There was no need for him to ask who the letter was from. He certainly did not need to ask twice.
I have mixed emotions on this. It would certainly take less time to mow the grass than to fight it through the "system" but what the Judge seemed to ask is. "what is the system?".
I think that is a fair question.

Term 8:35. This is NOT 5:45, as you think there is only one person in Painesville who wants Flock out, and 5:45 is not who you think they are AGAIN. And whenever ANYONE comments on Flock, you blame it on one person, and it is seldom that one person. And if the one person writes to say it is not them, YOU DELETE THE POST. Many, many people in his ward want him out and have for decades. And my take on Flock is the same as 5:45's. How dare Flock talk about a citizen that way at a council meeting? Many people feel the same way Judge Lawson does about this city, and the city has abused many people with their letters and otherwise. And Flock's comments just prove it. And isn't it just like him to be an immature baby about it, slam her, and never do anything to help her situation. I hope he's finally planning to get out of city council. I, too, think Flock owes Lawson a public apology, just like he publicly slammed her, and I think he owes the whole city an apology for his behavior. He can give it to us as he gets off of council, and he can also apologize for being such a rotten councilman for decades and not having the decency to move on. When I moved here decades ago, people were complaining about having him as their councilman THEN, and they STILL are and he's STILL here. You complained about Hada and others for staying for decades, but you condone Flock for doing it and you attack anyone who says anything bad about your little buddy.

Apologize to the judge and to the citizens for your behavior, Flock. And then please, please, get out of office already.

Judge Lawson may have also criticized Flock in her letter, as that would be a good reason for him not to reveal the rest of the contents of the letter. If he can reveal what he did, and criticize her publicly like he did, then I can't imagine any other reason that he would keep the rest of the letter quiet or take it so personally that he had to unprofessionally criticized her out loud at a council meeting. I agree with 5:45 that it is Flock that needs to go. I cannot even believe he did that.

8:44 Yes I believe he wanted to make the complaint public record.

2:04 Whatever you say I also believe councilman Flock has more people that like him then a few detractors.

4:23/2:04 Lets look at this the way it was presented. Did Flock bring up the letter? Did Flock announce who the letter sender was? I asked councilman Flock if he was mentioned in the letter? He said he was not, I will take him at his word. Now someone sends you a "nasty" letter and you should apologize because it "pissed you off?"
Council Lady DiNallo or the Judge herself could end this conversation if they shared the contents of the letter. Just maybe he wasn't the one who acted unprofessionally? Again maybe you cannot even believe what was sent by letter to the council people?

How dare Flock talk to/about a citizen like that at a council meeting. I don't care what Lawson put in the letter. To have Flock disrespect a citizen like that publicly shows what a jerk he is and why people have such a problem with this city. He'll help her pack her bags???!!! Let's help him pack his bags right off of council.

Term 8:11. It doesn't matter what was in the judge's letter. What matters is that Flock sat on council and slammed her publicly and said he would help her box up her stuff!!! Get out, Flock, you unprofessional jerk. Where was all that indignity as you sat on council and you and the city was getting us into these massively horrific electric deals. Maybe if you would have really opened up your mouth then, we wouldn't be in these messes. The contents of that letter should have been between the city and the judge, and it should not have been brought up at a council meeting identifying her unless she okayed it. And then Flock reacts the way he did?! I'll help box up Flock's stuff.

9:40/2:31 RULE #107 Why not run for council. No matter what's in the letter sent to you must politely accept the criticism. Sorry Andy as well as many others including myself are not wired this way. I think everyone believed the reason this was brought up at council is that Mrs. DiNallo is employed by the letter writer. That said let's use her logic about letters. What's stopping her or anyone else from writing a letter of apology to the Judge? Why waste 40 minutes of a council meeting over this? Do you know the city manager sat down with the letter writer and I guess that still wasn't enough. You expect people to apologize without even knowing the contents of the letter. I was "pissed off" just listening to the dialogue at the council meeting. Again write your own letter of apology. Better yet explain the letter to us.

Maybe the good judge was a little under the weather when she composed the letter to the city? If you know what I mean.

While I personally don't agree with what Andy had to say in the meeting, I do understand where he is coming from.
As was pointed out above, there was NO reason for the LD to ask for the name of the person TWICE.
BTW, what I heard him say is that the Judge's viewpoint is wrong but I never heard him say why or give any backing to his point. He has been wrong often enough, in the past, that I have to ask what his statements are based on.
It was really a complete waste of time for everyone on Council.
BTW, Mr DeLeone's indignation was pretty funny too.

Notice how Term puts down whomever he wants that runs/works in this city, but if you criticize Flock, he puts it back on the person who is unhappy with Flock. Then he starts getting abusive. Now he's saying to write your own letter of apology, and you better explain the letter yourself. Sorry Term, this has to do with Flock and his behavior, and he didn't have any right to act like that while he was representing the citizens of Painesville. And he's telling the poster to run for council themselves if they didn't like Flock's behavior. And I don't think one poster talked about an apology; they are all talking about Flocks reaction and behavior over the letter. Is the judge in Flock's ward? If so, she's probably been trying to get him to do his job for...what?...25 years? 30 years?

What the Flock?

Is he going to run or not? I hope not!

12:54 What comments are you reading?

10:37 Seems the law director wasn't buying the letter either. The part with the people in the audience had no idea what they were talking about? Yes councilman DeLeone loves to pontificate. Wish he had clued us in. Just maybe A councilperson will read the letter at the next council meeting?
What would be the consequences?

At June 5, 2015 at 7:23 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Unless the judge wants the letter read publicly, then the letter should not be read publicly. This council is already way out of control over the letter. Term says Andy is not wired to politely accept criticism so I guess, therefore, the outburst. Well, if that is the case, he does not belong on council. Add this outburst against a citizen of our city to his normal passive-aggressive crap, and he really needs to go. Really. Please go, Flock. Please.

At June 5, 2015 at 9:32 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Term wants to know what the consequences of reading the letter at the next council meeting? Unless the judge wants the letter read, then disrespect of a citizen would be the consequence, and that would be a price too high to pay. Andrew should have just shut his mouth.

Is the judge in Flock's ward?

At June 6, 2015 at 8:55 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

9:32 No, all council people were sent the letter.

9:32/7:23 Begs the question then, what was so terrible about the letter? Many rumors have been sent to the blog. I promise you if half are true I wouldn't want that letter made public either.
The Law Director I believe tried to tell Mrs. DiNallo , don't go down that path. She did and now everyone seems to not know what's going on. Listening to the conversation my thoughts were "I hope no one else on council has their boss send a letter to the city.
Then again lets blame this mess on someone who's crime was he was sent the letter. Must be Painesville think?

At June 6, 2015 at 1:40 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Flock isn't being blamed because he was sent a copy of the letter. He's being blamed because a citizen sent him a copy of a letter that said, for one thing, that they couldn't wait to move to a city where the citizens were treated with dignity. Then Flock goes on an indignant rant in public at a council meeting and says, among other things, that he'll help her box up her stuff. Case in point for the judge, and deplorable behavior for Flock, so don't try to blame Flock's behavior back on the judge.

Dinallo is the one who brought up the letter from her boss at the council meeting so she is the one responsible for making this public.

Why were they outside of the city? What if something happened and they had to be there. Ive heard how busy the department is. And why don't they shop right in the city, give city merchants their business? ? Instead of leaving town?
