Here is the response I received for my layman's questions about the electric accounts.

So I have to ask, to a layman, what does this tell us?
Looks to me as though you have to be an accountant to understand it.
I wonder how many of the Council members would understand this?

6:27 Short answer? I guess all these number's tell us the reason no one seems concerned about PSEC? Along with 30 people on the public dole at the power plant not causing much concern? Shut0-up and pay the man.

Anyone have a clue why the electric reserve fund has grown so large? A councilman should ask the electric department head questions just off of this one sheet. I see five major ones.
That said they should be ashamed to release this without more information.

Looking at these figures it seems we are being overcharged?

who is the city's in-house accountant? We do have a bookkeeper at least, don't we? Most of the bookkeepers I know can take the books through 'trial balance' - which means they have the figures tidied up and ready for a CPA. Maybe that's who should be making a presentation to the people.

3:23 I guess our in-house bookkeeper would be our finance director?

The question that as I listen to Mr. McHugh's explanation of the power cost adjustment was that I hoped someone on council would have asked him "are you the person who does the monthly calculations?" I believe it would have been a very interesting answer.
Yes, you are right that's the person that should have made the presentation.

Why would who calculates the PCA make for an interesting answer? J just because you have poor math skills doesn't mean someone else can't plug numbers into a formula. There is a formula for it, isn't there?

1:40 That's the question plug numbers in to what?

Uuuhhhh....the formula. Why don't you ask for that?

7:38 I did. And I want it shown so it can be understood.

Want an exercise in well ...
Call the finance office and ask if the schools get a discount on their utilities. They will direct you to the utility department who will put you on hold. Telling you should speak to the finance director in the finance department, when you explain that department sent me to your department, they connect you to the finance department ...and the director is in a meeting.
It's a simple question, yes, no and how much.

Anone notice the chuckholes at St. Clair and Washington St.? Best reason ever NOT to shop Downtown Painesville!

Pothole report:
Try driving either direction on Williams St.
I thought E Erie St was bad but Williams has it beat.

1:20 I guess a number of resident could supply us with all the "horror" stories about street's. Washington and St. Clair are downtown so why is everyone excited about Main St.

This is what 20 years of neglect get's you? Seems the birds flew the Koop at just the right time?
