"THE WAY I AM" eminem

Whole lot of frustration Monday night.

To start with in the visitors recognition I brought up;

Waste Management
Painesville Billing cycle
Need for 9 million dollar water line and crib to be built into Lake Erie
Along with asking for an assessment by the City if the three businesses run by Painesville are in the residents best interests.

Jeff McHugh explained the (PCA) cost adjustment on our utility bill. If anyone understands what was explained , please feel free to inform us here on the blog.

I heard of rates set in 1990 by ordinance  929.06  and what goes into the PCA monthly but its fuzzy math to me.
Councilman Flock questioned if Painesville Power Customer's were paying for "levelization" Mr. McHugh said no it comes out of our profits? You are free to draw your own conclusions here..

Back to the Water Department when you compare water prices between Painesville and the County presently the City rate for 4488 gallons with the $8.00 surcharge is$23.60

Now the County for the same 4488 gallons is presently $20.94

But Painesville customers (Outside the City Limits) pay $31.28 for the 4488 gallons

Now before we move forward on this 9 million dollar project it should be know that our contract to supply Concord Township comes  up very soon. Shouldn't we get that contract signed first? Or it might take 40 years before that temporary surcharge goes away. Seems we are putting the cart in front of the horse?

Councilman Fodor mentioned that when he first went on council the administration made mention of a new line and crib. He is absolutely correct. I checked the minutes of the meeting where the $8.00 surcharge was voted on by council and correct me but I found no mention of that line or crib were brought up during discussion at that time.

Frustration by Councilman Flock over the missing fire truck that I am glad to report is presently at the station. Councilman Flock admitted that he personally knew nothing about Fire Trucks and his voting for this vehicle on the chief as well as  other professionals expert's advice he felt he wasn't given the proper facts.
Again in defense of Chief Mlachak he and the Concord chief were sent on Mission: Impossible and I and many others believe they got the best "bang for the buck." Maybe the correct answer should have been it's 23 years-old it might have problems in the future and I recommend  we spend more for a newer vehicle. Hey isn't hindsight a great thing?

Councilman Flock was frustrated, Chief Mlachak was frustrated, me I'm glad they both are frustrated because in by eyes that means they care! and they are not just going through the motions with a  just don't give a damn attitude!

Councilman Flock is correct in his assessment we dodged a bullet over the last two major fires. I still have faith that maybe now the Tower 2319 purchase will still be a major plus for Painesville. 4:42 you with me?

viewed council meeting on web. It appears only ONE councilperson gives a dam about anything from electricity to fire trucks the rest seem happy being in the good old boys and girl club. More engagement and less platitudes.

The PCA explanation sounded a lot like bait and switch to me.

We rely on rates set in (take your pick) 1991 or 2001. Of course rates were lower then but we haven't adjusted them. We are then told that we have the lowest electric rates in the State. Based on 15 or 20 year old numbers, that isn't surprising. However, they really aren't that low because every month, on a rolling average, we get an adjustment based on some math hocus-pocus that (apparently) the electric supervisor understands. I don't think I am stupid but it hurt my head trying to follow the logic.

Levelization, and how we pay for it, makes even less sense. BTW, levelization is not a word recognized by spell check.

Mr Fodor tells that the replacement of the line to the crib was mentioned when he was first elected. I have attended a lot of Council meetings and I do not recall hearing any discussion of this at any time in open meetings. is it necessary to replace it? Probably so but that was not the intent of the monthly $8 surcharge on your utility bill.

Just random thoughts based on what I heard.

With you? Noooooo. I simply got sick of hearing the whining and got the job done facts and my opinions included. Ya'd think since it's your blog you would have or could have done the same.
2 fires, I only remember one fire, maybe I was out of town for the other.

4:42/3:32 Didn't think so. Your facts are pretty much the same.

The other fire was the Health Department fire when the truck was again in for repairs. Your memory is a good reason you don't run a blog. sorta selective?
Still can't find misinformation though.

2:29 It would have been interesting if visitors could have asked questions. There is no logic to it. But now we know how one of the least expensive rates in the state are computed.

4:39 When did Bob Gibbs move?

If being the most hated person in town is do to this blog. Well then there is a very low threshold for that honor.

"most hated person"?? Really?
Not even close.
I do wonder though, why would you think that someone is hated because they raise questions, issues, and concerns that affect all of us who live in the City?
I don't always agree with Term but I am 100% sure that his intentions are honorable. Both of us have lived here for our entire lives and we both want to see our City grow and flourish. Sometimes we agree on the methods, sometimes we don't. However I do think that Term is bringing things out to stimulate thought by other people. He has sources and he writes about things that keep all of us informed and sometime entertained.
Don't like what he writes or says? Simple solution is to bury your head in the sand. Even easier is to not read his blog.
Either way you choose, I am very glad that he takes the time to write his thoughts and ideas.

Termie is not hated by Painesville people only the ones that run this place from directors to someone filling a chuckhole. Because he exposes the screwy things that go on in this town. We need him because we are constantly fed drivel about Painesville. Yes and he is 100% correct about everything from the electric plant to streetscape. It's good to hear a little honesty around hear. The haters can stick to their lies being told in the Painesville Pride. I only wish I had a bird so I could put that paper finally to some good use!

Why is he hated? because 78% of the people collecting a check here don't live here. From directors to first stage employees that oppose being exposed for their numerous failures. Thank God for at least one councilman calling them out. Sorry we are more than a check for you to run home to Perry with.
We don't trust any of you.

Hated because he expects the community for some accountability for some of the things that a blind person could notice around here. Me I'm tired of watching people thanked for doing nothing.

To the downtown merchants your idea's won't save downtown not with postcards and pancake batter. Not another dime for Main St.

AND if you have people sitting on council that their only job is government you an expect 50% availability to be viewed as success. We do it with students why not fire trucks?

Well to move up in the ranking somebody moved.

Mr. Gibbs has been blamed for just about everything negative in Painesville. Unfairly I might add.
