"and planning"
Andy Flock's Town Hall Meeting this Thursday January 29, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Elm Street Elementary School has to guests planned for the meeting New City Planner Lynn White to discuss the train station historical district and City Engineer Leanne Exum to discuss street projects.
Andy also will take questions to bring back to council and the administration on resident questions about the city utility bills. The best
I've been asked is why there is even a Power Cost Adjustment? Why are the two parts of the electric bill separated?
Andy also will explain the $21.00 assessment on your property tax bill for Tier Two County Storm Water Fund.
The surprise in the community of no knowledge of this is pretty much a reflection on the administration as well as this blog. not informing residents on the operation of the city. Or maybe it's just the apathy reflected in this community?
I have given a lot of thought about Mr. Fodor's message of Strategic Planning and as just as a resident who sits out in the audience and has the perfect opportunity to listen and view council as they communicate amongst themselves it become obvious to notice by interruption, voice tone, facial expressions, as well a body language this isn't a friendly bunch. I believe classes aren't needed just a positive understanding and an attitude to like one another. To one up each other seems to be the norm. At the last meeting Law Director Gurley made a statement explaining procedure, at the same time councilman DeLeone also an attorney piped in. In respect to the councilman your job is to legislate and the law director is doing his job.
Is this Council-President Paul Hachs responsibility? I'm not sure, but it reflects poorly on his leadership ability and it shouldn't.He is as able as anyone, the infighting on council must stop. I dread to think what goes on in an executive session.
At the last executive session it appeared to the public they either didn't agree on what was discussed or who was doing what?
I guess ALL council people should respect and try to be friendly to each other.

I always find their facial expressions and gestures to be humorous when I am in the audience. Too bad they have no idea what we see.
OTOH, I like to see some disagreement among the Council members. At least it tells me that there are different ideas out there.
10:43 Because a camera focused on someone else doesn't catch it, but the audience does. Ever watch the amount of water consumed at a meeting? Must mean something. Maybe I shouldn't have left the cat out of the bag?
OTOH your getting disagreement in droves!
I'm still waiting for the father or mother of "streetscape" to publicly come forward and brag about it. Not a paid administrator but someone elected by the people.
TERM,
10:43 again.
Yep, I am getting lots of disagreements across all of Council. Quite a show, huh?
Don't hold your breath on someone to brag. Heck, I haven't heard anyone tell us how wonderful it is (at least no one who is still with us).
Rest in Peace, Larry Horgan. He was a "class act".
Yes he was, To good to be true. God Bless
Back to council, giving it more thought maybe the format is wrong? One long table probably 30 feet end to end. I get a kick out of the clerk of council stretching to take notes and listening to who might be speaking.
A solution that might work is to have council meet in a semi-circle where the two ends are looking at each other. along with a better sound system. I don't know if this would work in the present courtroom but watching people lean back or forth doesn't presently work either.
Flock 1 Remainder of council ?
How many and who of the other council members are on board with the RR station thing? Just curious
Move council meetings to Harvey High School. Better sound and video. More comfortable seating for the public. Better parking. Department Heads could show their power point on an actual screen, not a tiny portion of the courtroom wall. Maybe, if we gave Council a more professional setting they would act more professional.
1:30 I don't know. I didn't hear opposition to the idea .
3:45 It's been tried and I see the pro's and con's. Your right about presentation as well as sound and it sure is more comfortable.
PCLS! HIRE SMOKERS? WHAT? say its not soooo! how is that for your health 360?
who is running that show??
city done something? they will no longer hire smokers! And they can not hire they must test before they are hired. Is what Iam told? but they at PCLS do as they please. look up the date when it was passed.
I'm not sure I agree with this nonsmoking policy. I do realize what they are trying to do. I have lost family members to lung cancer (and one does not have to be a smoker to get). What's next? Fat people? Since obesity is a disease I would expect that next. I see this happening next "We cant hire you because you are overweight and you are too costly to insure due to high blood pressure, diabetes, etc." What's next-don't hire people with glasses. Now there's an expense! I am not joking about the weight issue, ask anyone working at the Cleve. Clinic. Some have to pay additional insurance because they are overweight. Too much big brother looming around.
12:30 I don't think it's the city or the BOE. I believe it's their insurance carriers.(private business) Look we all must take some personal responsibility. Should a driver with no accident or tickets for the last 20 years pay the same as a person with two DWU's? Should a smoker pay more for insurance?
Health insurance companies can charge as much as 50% higher premiums on smokers as they do to non-smokers under the ACA.
It makes sound fiscal sense to avoid hiring smokers, rather than incur more cost to all of us for their habit-addiction.
