"I'VE SEEN FIRE AND I'VE SEEN RAIN" james taylor

BULLETIN

I have been informed long time Painesville resident and community activist Selma Hall has passed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.
*****************************************************************************

As most of you must know my now the Lake County Health Department building on Mill St. caught fire and received extensive damage . The fire started approximately at 6:30 am this morning. No cause of the fire has yet been determined.

The building had already seen the results of the flood of 2006 now the fire this morning I believe sealed it's faith.

I wonder if any other residents noticed the coincidence of our electric power going out at around the same time all over the city. Were the instances related?

Over 20 fire departments responded to the fire. Tower trucks from Painesville Township, Mentor, Eastlake even Geneva responded to the fire even crews from Mayfield and Middlefield. What was missing?

Painesville- Concord  engine 2319 you know the new 'old' Tower Truck purchased last year that was fully reconditioned less than a year ago. Seems it's been MIA since early in July when I questioned Chief Mlakcak at the July council meeting  he mentioned it was in for 'maintence'. Look I give the chief credit for trying to equip the city with the proper equipment along with being the busiest station in the county but this absence is unacceptable. Thank God for mutual aid.

Now the city administration should go all out to find a  new location for the Health Department and do everything possible to keep them located in the city of Painesville. Community development now is your hour to shine. Act don't wait to react.

Watch the county move the heath department to the old minimum security jail over by the landfill.

I was pleasantly surprised that the power came on so quickly. Any info on what failed?

11:43 Maybe Victoria Place?
12:40 The fire had to be of some kind of electrical problem, or even a lightning strike. I did notice the transformer on the pole in front of the building looked scorched. I don't know if that means anything.

"out for maintenance"????
Since the tax payers laid out $100K to buy this truck and God knows how much to rebuild/outfit it, how is it even possible that it needs maintenance now?? Especially the kind that takes more than a month?
I wouldn't let my car be gone for maintenance for a month.
Is it possible that, in their haste to do "something", our Council missed something of importance AGAIN???

I thought the health dept. was anti-smoking?

2:03 I have no answer for you.

And you shouldn't answer. 2:03 should be contacting the people in charge for answers straight from the horses mouth, not you. Why is it you don't tell them what direction to take so they can help themselves to a proper answer. Oh, I know why, it won't be the truth or the answer YOU want to hear. You'd rather stir the stuff here.

6:23 What are you doing here? Wrong post. Look I agree but as a Painesville resident I also want an answer. People in Painesville have been pointed in wrong directions for years. Stir the stuff? You should be as concerned as I am. Many employer's can't comment on employee's health issues, so what horse do you want me to talk to?

Nope, I am on the right post. You ask open ended questions here that you should be going to city hall for the answers, not people reading the blog.

9:44 Maybe but at times more and better information comes from people reading the blog.
What's your problem, the truth being told?
Or do you know the answer and don't want it made public knowledge?

This is 2:03 and your kind of response tells me that you are on the inside of this. In case you can't understand sarcasm, that is exactly what was intended.
Who would a citizen ask for info on this?
The Fire Chief?
The City Manager?
Do you REALLY think that they would give an honest answer considering the smoke and mirrors that went into buying this 23 year old POS? They are going to tell you what they want you to hear, not the truth.
The citizens paid for this truck and they have a right to know exactly what is wrong with it since it is out of service.
Just typical of government, at all levels today, no accountability.

10:41 Maybe a council person should question the CM and/or the FDC?

Now, there is an idea.
I wonder who would step up and ask?
Do you think they will get an honest answer?
Politics makes for strange alliances.

Why ask council? Weren't they the ones who gave their final vote to ok a purchase? Doesn't things of this nature go before them, they are the deciding yea or nay vote. Be a good thing to ask them. How many times are questions raised here? When there is an answer it may or may not get posted. But when there isn't an answer from Term and followers they all suggest to ask the source and that's exactly what should be done. If the shoe fits...
