"IF YOU DON'T KNOW ME BY NOW" harold melvin & the blue notes

Being under the weather the past month I have missed the last two council meetings and have only viewed them on video. Something's get lost by not actually attending but you still get the drift.

It seems council is more concerned with someone getting hit in the head by a rake than the city bleeding thousand and thousands of dollars on an ill conceived power plant deal? First off Prairie State blew a hole the size of a semi-trailer in it building shutting the plant down on May 24, May 28 Painesville still hadn't been notified of the "incident". Owner's in name only? Councilman Flock informed the city on the morning of the 28th. Even the electric department was unaware of the situation until informed by the city manager. AMP-OHIO transparency?

Councilman Flock again called for council to get involved and was met by definite silence. The bonds of Rita McMahon and Joe Hada the two main instigators of this deal must run deeper than I even thought. Any thoughts who Painesville person of the year will be next year?

A friend even made the case for even a simpler answer. "It's not their money" he added if I thought Councilmembers Fodor or DiNallo  were involved in a bad personal deal wouldn't they doing everything in their power to get to the bottom or out of this deal? I don't see Fodor telling his wife we have to collect more  "data". Or DiNallo telling her husband "We don't want to upset the neighbor's"

Now the administration shows little need to get concerned just write the check and make the payment out of the electric fund or the power factor. Honestly why be concerned Mr. McHugh gets paid twice a month no matter what the cost's are, this along with the rest of the administration seem to not concern themselves with the shareholder citizen's of Painesville. Knowing all along that the damage being done today will only be questioned years from now after their long gone.

Councilman Flock forget the letters, ask for a resolution to hold-up payment to AMP until they live up to their end of the contract. Put the payments in escrow. My guess is AMP will threaten a lawsuit. and  Painesville should tell them bring it on, lets expose this larceny to the public.

Maybe I'm wrong . We just might want a council who's main concern happens to be rakes, carriage rides, putting a wig and lipstick on a pig and trying to convince everyone it ain't what it is. Spending over a million dollars on a Main St. pipedream when the city's infrastructure seems to be crumbling.

Wonder what day in November we will start rebuilding our streets? Seem's everyone else does this in the summer months

I've been wondering what the first project will be myself. Our streets are pretty bad. I've never seen Washington St. so bad, and Walnut St. is a joke. Seems like yesterday they rebuilt is.

My Oh My, I commend you for your commitment, sheepishly I admit I only look at your blog maybe once a month, but well done.

Years ago I made a joke to a law director, "what is the difference from a female lawyer from a pig, lipstick". Little did I know, bad joke.

Escrow, wonderful idea. I have told person after person, no, pay, but pay the court in escrow when in dispute. Nice job and few people would put in the commitment you have to your cite.

Please, leave the past in the past and move forward. The city will have to deal with what they have been dealt with and who was 'elected'. DiNallo and Fodor, who open their packets on arriving, nice preparation. Katie, who could have read but would have made no difference in analysis, lacking all around. Flock, you can agree or disagree with the man, but he really cares, and this is impressive and what I look for in an elected official. Fitzgerald, no comment, and that is from him, all the way around.

I just left the city proper recently and was very, very happy from my bill from CEI. No 'cost factor adjustment'. I feel bad about that, people of Painesville residents will have some pretty big bills to pay. I reflect back to Hada in the day when he touted the low cost of power as an economic development incentive for businesses to relocate to the 'business park'. Anyone drive there recently or over to the 'bridge to no where'. I give Mr. Carson the benefit of the doubt, but mowing grass and flower planters are, well, harkens back to the days of yesteryears. A friend pointed out a sign next to the old 'Arabica', 'coming soon', which had been there for years, but the really funny part was a homeless person was walking by with a grocery cart and her comment was, "see, shoppers", it was funny. But we really must not dwell on the past and support and give positive input throughout the community and whatever this administration is trying. A last point. Their communication is horrible, web cite nonexistent for practical matters. I don't know what their problem is in this day and age of technology. Harkens back to my grandfather, "silence is golden" Well, enough, check back in a month.

I see councilman Fitzgerald had an unexcused absent at the last meeting. Seems coming to meetings must be an option? What another Irish holiday maybe.

Well let me throw a little fat on the fire here if we are going to talk about council. We need prepared, well informed council people. Why not make it a full time job with a full time salary? I really think people are spread to thin. I know; "there is no money". Since the charter was changed to make it easier to get your name on the ballot I am hoping in the next election we see more residents running. We really need some changes on council!

Yes, the city website needs some help and not sure what has happened as it used to be pretty easy to navigate.

Interesting article in Sunday News Herald. The nail was hit on the head when urban renewal was brought up. I always felt this was the demise of this town. Blame the mall? I've heard now the malls are falling out of favor so maybe we can get back to where we belong. Unfortunatly never back to where we were. I disagree with the crime statement also, yes there is crime everywhere but SHOW me the facts. I would like to see a chart with all communities and their crime facts. Then let me decide which town is the worst. There is a problem with crime and illegals (being illegal is a crime in itself)So, until the town is CLEANED up, PERCEPTION is changed (the media is no help here) How many captions state Painesville crime when it is the township. I have contacted the NH and their only comment is "that's how the police report reads" So much for truth in journalism. And SHOPPING with decent stores can be brought in I see this town a ghost town still. Oh, yes, maybe another hospital like the clinic or UH too.

2:06 this council is one rung above a high school student council. Very few can make the tough decisions. Odd there is money whenever the administration wants it.

You and Sandy sure know how to criticize, yet I never see either name on a ballot for council.
So easy to sit back and armchair council but you won’t walk the walk either.
Unless you have walked in others shoes you shouldn't be so critical. And if you think it's so easy then you should run, if not just take who the voters elected and stop ragging all the time.

Yes we do. You know what gives us the right? When some of these "incidents" were in the works. Sandy as well as many others were kicked to the curb by council and administration over views we knew as facts. We didn't sit on an armchair. Running for office in Painesville is a popularity contest, and let me tell you don't get popular pointing out mistakes around here. A good example seems more people are upset with me for exposing the AMP mistake than the millions we are losing on the deal? Walking in others shoes? Why don't they explain their votes no rather sit in silence and let the world go by. When will they put the citizens of Painesville first?

It appears that neither Painesville City Council, nor the administration, will ever put the citizens of Painesville first, even with McMahon, Hada, Delamotte and Horvath finally gone. We need to clean house, because the city is just as broke now as it was when those horrible people were in office. And I am still hoping for investigations into these AMP, etc. deals. Does anyone know if there will be any?

I have known Term for a LONG time. We don't always agree on things but I really do appreciate the fact that he brings things to light when others want to keep us in the dark. I believe 100% that he wants what is best for Painesville. We might not agree on the best way to do that but his intentions are good.
Running for office, and being elected, does not give anyone magic powers. To make the best decisions an official needs to listen to options, weigh the pros and cons, and be VERY lucky.
Term is much more effective doing what he does than he would ever be in elected office. I hope he does it for a long time.

You 2 will never change. Just hide behind your computer and gripe about everything instead of doing what's right to make a difference. I think you are just afraid of losing or not being able to keep your numbers up on your blog by doing so.

12:52 Probably not.No hiding you seem to have figured out who we are? Odd remark to from someone who calls themselves Chicken Little. Wheres's your credibility?

Our families have been around as long, if not longer than yours in Painesville (defiantly longer than Ms.Millers)and have been very involved in the concerns and direction of it. And we offer solutions rather than criticism. Let's just say, when you see us you know us.

8:46 Seniority has little to do with it. Only that you have been subjected to more than some. Look I will not critizes you over your concerns, direction or solutitions.

But I must ask what direction are you wanting to take us? It appears we go in five different directions? I might get on board. These "solutions" What are they? I see very few around.
I guess you might be one of the go along to be along. Can't wait for your solutions to be read!
A very polite way to tell me to shut-up. I will give you credit for that.

8:46 You have no idea what direction the city is headed. I haven't seen a solution in over a decade.

I don't pretend to speak for Term but it is hard to know where the City is headed when the leaders of the City either don't seem to know OR work hard to keep things secret.
BTW, it is not his job to have solutions. That is the job of City leaders.
