"SWEET CAROLINE" neil diamond

Recently Penn State took  Sweet Caroline off the play list at football games? As if that would solve anything. "Touching you, touching me." Now get over it and lets move on ?

Yesterday I was looking into a poster claim that the new Principal at Harvey was running into alot of flack from Dr. Hanlon. People  I spoke with told me everything was fine. The new Principal is fitting in and the staff is behind him 100%.

In the process of looking into this I believe I stumbled into something far worse.
All I can tell tell you presently is I am disgusted with what I heard and if this is true you will also feel the same way.

I don't believe there is a rug large enough to hide this from the public and if the facts are true impossible.

The saddest  of this incident are the innocent victims first and foremost. We as a society value people we put in trust.

Then there are also innocent victims that are only guilty by association, who possible will never be looked at the same way again.

As a former Harvey Alumni I only pray that this rumor is false along with  no Mike McQueary, or Graham Spanier or anyone else that might of had knowledge of this alleged crime.

Are the police investigating? If not, do they need to be?

Best to get this investigated quickly and get the person away from children ASAP. If proven to be false, then so be it, but in the meantime err on the side of safety for the kids.

I am the original poster of the HHS information. Yes the principal is fantastic. Halls are quiet, there have been suspensions as needed. The school is a school, no longer a zoo. BUT...the principal and the PHD have gone head to head over discipline and suspension.
The PHD says you will do it my way and the principal said fine then start my paperwork up. Of course, the PHD will deny this, always does at the boe meetings. Word heard - too many suspensions and you WILL NOT suspend the minorities. Now where would one find those statistics? I believe the American Caucasians by now should be the minorities but I don't think he is referring to them.
Feel free to keep this confidential till more comes to the surface. Hanlon needs to go.

The time has come......
And how do we do this? We have talked to the board, we elected Mr Grippi and other new board members, we attended board meetings, we talked to Hanlon one on one. I agree Hanlon has to go, we have to turn the schools around. We need to support the new principal at HHS. Can we possibly band with the teachers? It has been more than frustrating watching this school system deteriorate since Hanlons arrival. if you own your home and watched the value plummet get to a board meeting!

Can we please come up with some constructive ideas to accomplish this?

Look at the test scores since Hanlon has taken the helm. Start looking into the decline in the school systems standing, look at the need for the 50% grading policy. What administrator in their right mind would think that would benefit college bound students?
Hanlon blames the student population for low test scores. He claims he can educate only what he is given. He thought so little of my daughters graduating class his parting words were a country western song. That was the best he could do. He is not a creative thinker and he has little rapport with parents and guardians...... And apparently teachers and principals.
Look back to past super's they seemed to figure out.

As a teacher in the MS, I can tell you....by replacing the top 2, suspensions would not get overturned that had no business being overturned. We need ADM that is truly concerned about turning things around. If they were, they wouldn't care how many suspensions there are....they would quickly learn the lesson that we are here to learn. Yes, there would be lots of suspensions in the short term, but they would diminish as word gets out that the new ADM means business.....just a thought....

The mantra given to us is..."we can't change their home life, so we have to work with what we are given".... I don't buy into this, as I feel we have evolved into an entitlement, no expectations society. Ask the troubles with the new lunch program, where some kids who were free, now have to pay because in the past, everyone got it free because that's how we did it....God forbid, you actually have to pay for your lunch if you qualify....

We won't raise test scores until we are truly about education and deal with the bad apples, period. Suspend them, get them out of the learning environment , and somehow hold the parents responsible, all while reiterating why we are here ....for an education, and suspension numbers be damned. If you screw up, you pay the consequences. The Painesville PD who pulls me over for speeding doesn't care if I am on an IEP, have anger issues, can't speak English, or am a fighter. I sped, I pay the consequences....I wish those at 58 Jefferson St. had the same no nonsense approach...it could be done, and the community would get behind all of them.....but will they...doubtful....

Some claim the school system has gone down since Hanlon arrived, maybe since Delamonte and Horvath announced us as a sanctuary city?, maybe since the county figured out our City council has no gonads and would put up with 50% of Lake County low income and almost all of the services for them?.

There are a lot of forces playing out in this city. And as long as we are 81% Democrat bleeding heart liberals and believe that others shouldn't be held responsible for their actions this city will continue to deteriorate.

Do you think you, and you alone can make a difference with these suspensions? This has been going on for many years and I don't see it stopping just because you exposed it. It has been brought up before in past posts and not much of a fuss was made before, why now? The district, Hanlon and the Bd of Ed doesn't want a black eye over this. Don't you think the elected board knows all this? They must approve as nothing has changed about it.

I just wish that students who truly do not want to be there but put in a more restrictive environment commensurate to their behavior. This does not happen. I don't have many issues with classroom management, but some teachers do because of these students. They CAN learn, but choose not to. That's all I am saying....and it could be changed easily if they really wanted to....

2:31: I am a Democrat, and not once in my life did I think that people should not be held accountable for what they do, and that includes children. I also do not know one other Democrat that does not think the same as I do, so blaming this on Democrats is ludicrous.

Do we have an alternative school for kids who aren't making it--for whatever reason--in the regular school system? If not, why not? But, do we?

It sounds like there are troublemakers making too much trouble in this school and, I for one, do not think that kids should just be "cut loose." If there is not an alternative school, then there needs to be-- where kids can get more individualized help to try to get them to calm down, conform enough to learn and get diplomas. None of us win if the troublemakers are left in the main stream schools, or if they are let go with no hope of a future in their minds. When they grow up enough to get the picture, they need an open door ahead of them.

There is an alternative school in Willoughby, the same school the Chardon shooter attended. It's the only "alternative" high school setting that I can think of in Lake County. I agree with 7:40, we can't just cut them loose and forget about them. The problem with suspensions is that they want to sit at home and play games, so they act up to get suspended-hence the push to not suspend.

An alternative needs to be created in order to help solve some problems.

Yes, there are alternative schools. One in the St.Marys school
is that Summet Academy. We had Lake Academy in Victoria Place, is it still there? Then there is the one in Willoughby, the name escapes me. It it the one TJ Lane attended.
But the questions are:1. What is the criteria to attend.
2. Who pays for it. Keep in mind when a district looses a student, they loose funding. Now times that by the may suspended all the time in Painesville and that adds up to a huge loss.
Why do you think they keep harboring the illegals?

The assistant principal at Harvey High School in the Painesville City School District has been placed on leave pending an investigation.

David Klingenberg, 36, was placed on paid administrative leave Friday morning, said Painesville Schools Superintendent Michael P. Hanlon.

Hanlon would not comment on what specifically caused Klingenberg to be placed on leave but said the district was investigating “compliance with board policy.”

Hanlon also said that he is only involved with the district’s investigation and could not say whether or not police were involved.

The district is determining whether it needs to name a replacement for Klingenberg, and Hanlon did not know how long the investigation may take.

“I hope to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” Hanlon said.

Klingenberg could not be reached for comment.

The assistant principal at Harvey High School in the Painesville School District is being investigated for possible misconduct involving a student.

David Klingenberg, 36, was placed on paid administrative leave Friday morning, said Painesville Schools Superintendent Michael P. Hanlon.

Hanlon said in a media release that Painesville Police and the district are investigating whether Klingenberg “violated the policy we have in place regarding the maintenance of proper boundaries with our students.”

According to the release, Hanlon learned about the possible violation on Thursday and placed Klingenberg on leave Friday immediately after confronting him.

Hanlon said the district will cooperate fully with the police investigation.

The district is determining whether it needs to name a replacement for Klingenberg, and Hanlon did not know how long the investigation may take.

“I hope to resolve the issue as quickly as possible,” Hanlon said.

Klingenberg could not be reached for comment.

The superintendent would not say what specifically caused Klingenberg to be placed on leave.

“At this time, I’m not at liberty to provide more information,” he said in the release. “However, nothing is more important than the safety and security of the students in our care. We will not tolerate behavior that jeopardizes the trust the community and our students place in us.”

A recently suspended Harvey High School assistant principal has been under investigation by the Painesville Police since 2011.

David Klingenberg was placed on paid administrative leave on Friday morning, the day after the district learned about a police investigation that began in May 2011, said Painesville Schools Superintendent Michael P. Hanlon.

“We are investigating the matter further and also are cooperating with the police on their own investigation,” Hanlon said in a media release.

In a previous release, Hanlon said that an investigation was underway to determine whether Klingenberg “violated the policy we have in place regarding the maintenance of proper boundaries with our students.”

The school board held an executive session meeting Wednesday night regarding personnel, but Hanlon said he could not talk about what was discussed at the meeting.

The citizens of Painesville need to ask for the removal of all administration that were in place when this happened. The two top ones at the BOE have more than been made aware of this situation as well as other concerns involving other faculty. When told they asked not to be informed and continued to promote these individuals to higher positions. There are even present Board members that had to be aware of these concerns.
Here's another interesting item.
There is a parapro in the elementary school that hasn't made it to work yet this year. Claims he has cancer. He looked GREAT at the Cleveland Air Show last week. So why has administration gone after this person as they did two female staff several years ago? Someone should ask!

I personally went to Dr. Hanlon and was told it was handled. I asked him about the kids in both teachers class and friends od the student. What lessons were learned? What messages were sent to the student body. This is not about shaming someone it is about making ADULTS accountable to taxpayers, mstudents and good teachers. We as taxpayers have sent the message through re election that being morally bankrupt is OK .

When Dr. Hanlon recited a country western song at my daughter's commencement I was in shock. When I asked him if that was really the best he could do he said; Yes and defended his decision as something everyone in the class could understand...... I knew we were doomed.
