"NOTHING FROM NOTHING" billy preston

Leaves nothing?

In Wednesday News-Herald there will be a follow up article on the resignation of Assistant Harvey Principal Dave Klingenberg. What will we learn that we didn't already know? Nothing.

The article re-prints his resignation letter. With the understanding his desire to do this before he would face termination.

The Superintendent letter to the School Board that the employee may have engaged in conduct unbecoming to the teaching profession.

His last evaluation by former Principal Kimberly Martin who's evaluation was that all criteria was either surpassed expectations, or met expectations.

We heard about a student at times hired as a "babysitter', numerous closed door meetings, and unauthorized ride homes.

A short statement by Painesville Police that would not confirm if an arrest would be made or not.

Reading between the lines I am lead to believe that the criminal trail has gone cold.

We are left with more questions than answers. Why did everyone clam up? Why would an establish professional resign. Why tarnish your  family's good name if you were innocent?

Until or if we ever find out more I for one will keep my thoughts to myself. Instead of this being sweeped under a rug, it was sweeped into a closet and the door for the time being closed.

Let's get back to the job of providing Painesville students a quality education. RIGHT!

Term,

Or should I say Columbo? You make it seem as though you uncovered the story or have an inside contact. The article is posted online for all to see.

Klingenberg bought a student cloths and am iPod? I would say that is highly inappropriate for a male teacher and a 15 year old female student or any teacher/student.

If the girl needed essentials like cloths, there are agencies who provide those services. Growing up we were taught not to accept "things" from others because nothing on life is free. No reading between the lines necessary.

Alright let's take a look at this for real this time. David Klingenberg AND his wife and family helped out a girl in need. She had no money, home, or family. Are a few school uniforms and a birthday present so serious a crime? Apparently! If that is true a LOT of teachers and coaches in Painesville city should look out! Maybe we should launch a full scale investigation! I know of coaches- that is I have direct knowledge, not gossip or rumors like many on this blog -and here is what I found out. We DO have coaches buying things for kids like meals, gloves, proper footwear, chipping in for tuxes to
wear to prom. Hiring them to do odd jobs around the
house to help them make extra money. Giving them rides in cold or rain to practice and home. Why? Because the parents are not there to do it.
Now let's talk Klingenbergs office- do you all know where it is located? I did some checking. Right next to the school officer, the nurse, multiple secretaries right outside. Hmmmmm!
Let's address his resignation after 14 years in this district, being guilty of violating board policy- best interest at heart, not to mention the time and loyalty to the district why would you want to work for PCLS ever again? Much less pay a lawyer for a long drawn out court fight?
I am a proud parent of Harvey graduates doing wonderful in college and careers. Mr Klingenberg was their Mock Trial coach- they think the world of him! No funny business- traveling weekends away from home. Mr. Klingenbergs father, some call a hot shot attorney. More like a kindly retired grandfather. Well he put countless hours in over the years volunteering, attending sporting events of all kinds and supporting PCLS. We know Dave- he would never bring shame to his family!

Term- you want coaches teachers with loyalty like Mr. Scullin? You had one! Painesville chased him out!
I asked a Hispanic student I know- did he hear rumors about Mr. Klingenberg from the kids. His answer- yes I've heard he takes students to his home, for family dinners.

As for that storm cellar rumor it is so absurd! It has become a weird urban legend. Sometimes the teachers names change. I think why would adults not just get a hotel? Because it didn't happen! I actually called the former administrator who co- owned the place. He said it never happened.

We have gossips, vindictive gossips in this city spouting hearsay as truth. Someone said it who knew someone who saw it so it must be true! Right? Wrong! If you truly are a good person, citizen, or Christian you will stop this! Unless you have first hand knowledge and saw it with your own eyes it is a rumor! Shame on you!

As for people calling for Hanlons head? Common thread? Dare I say it, I dare. Do we have a race issue here folks? Is any of this linked to football transfer issues?
And last for this criminal investigation after all this time and the RUMORS of sexual misconduct? No arrest? That's right! No crime was actually committed. You can not tell me the entire police department can not come come up with enough evidence to charge him if any of this true.
One more thing- I personally find Mr. Costells vote to not accept his resignation shows his immaturity. Experienced board members knew they lacked credible evidence to terminate, and perhaps the man was innocent!

5:09 - I find it curious that Dr. Hanlon didn't report Klingenberg to the state until a day after he found out about the police investigation. I'm sure there were concerned parents, citizens, and professionals who voiced misgivings about Klingenberg prior to August 31st. Didn't Dr. Hanlon have a responsibility to investigate these concerns himself? I wonder what happens if some of the concerned parents come forward with evidence that Dr. Hanlon knew something was amiss with Klingenberg and chose to do nothing?

6:50 No Columbo, but can't we just agree a big part of this story is missing?
Seems like you and 7:03 see things quite differently? Me I just wish all the truth was out there. Presently I believe we are left with what we got.
If a person is innocent he doesn't resign and destroy his career, name and everything he has worked for. Screw the cost if you are accussed you say and fight to clear your name, and the unnamed victims name. Where can he go or who will let him rebuild his lifes choosen profession? This over an i pad, clothes? No there has got to be more here or we have returned to the times of the Salem witch hunts.
7:03 has made some valid points and believes in the innocence of the Principal. Are there links? After what I "selectively" heard in the parking lot yes could be. Do we have a race problem? I don't think we have a problem but we do have issues and these issues should be addressed in public. not whispered behind doors.
There is not a White, Black, or Hispanic student that can't receive a very decent education in Painesville if some of us would put all the politics aside.
Steve Costell immature? Sorry in his shoes I would have asked for the same thing. It may have been good for Mr. Klingenberg for someone to have to prove something or nothing. What would the Christian thing to do be?
The goal should always be that the education and safety of the students should be job one.
Storm Cellar? Hardly an Urban Legend.

3:55 Who and when or if will anyone come forward?

The only thing worse than this situation seems to be people in denial.

This could be a simple case of bad judgement or;
We have been told money is free speech. So why can't money buy silence?

term 6:11 I don't have an answer to that question. I agree with your comment regarding Klingenberg's innocence though.
Innocent people fight for their name.
However, my concern right now is no longer Klingenberg. He's out of the school system. Guilty of a chargeable offence or not, his actions were inappropriate.
I just want to know when Hanlon knew and how come he didn't do anything until the 30th of August.

7:03 What does race have to do with this?? Is it possible certain people could have a not so hidden agenda, sure! But the football transfer issue does not and didn't effect everyone at the board meeting, white, black, or other.
Mrs. Dean spoke at that meeting regarding Dr. Hanlon trying to keep the principals at the schools from suspending the minority students. She spoke out against Dr. Hanlon, was that a "football thing" as well?? For the record I agree with Mrs. Dean 100%! If you can't follow the rules, go home/be sent home until you can!

I personally don't want Dr. Hanlon's head, but I demand accountability!

At this point accountability seems to have left the building. The football thing I overheard in the parking lot was well, a rant of why the PHD has to go. Football, football, football! Where was the concern for the student, where was the concern if people were innocent or gulity?

Sorry, you can't use names even initials if that person uses that as his/her name. You broght up an interesting comment about teacher's being enablers. Yes in the real world an employer would expect a certain dress code. Maybe that teacher is unaware of the rules in the outside world?
When the person was trying to start a fight what did you do or not do?

The entire building is like this, it's not just one person ignoring the dress code. The teachers are aware of the dress codes they have some sort of one as well. As for the music devices, for all we know it was approved by the principal. There is a lot of do as we want not what the handbooks say. The fight was already being controlled in the morning, student was kept out of class but the name calling was going on at dismissal.
