"ONLY GOD KNOWS "Y" kid rock

On top of everything else going on in town now, the Central Branch of our YMCA has a survey that asks ‘what would you prefer?’…. 1. Massive renovation to the Central YMCA branch on Mentor Ave. 2. Move near Diamond Center 3. Move near Tri-Point Hospital 4. Move near Tyler Blvd. 5. Move near the Mentor Civic Center I agree with one comment….. I also view this as a ticket out of Painesville for this organization. Massive renovation vs. a new location? What, have we outgrown the present site? Well, if you need another branch fine. However, this sounds more of a ‘let’s leave this location for a new location’. Every location mentioned makes getting to the new location harder than getting there now especially if you take public transportation. Yes, you could ride LakeTran down Mentor Ave. to the new location if it's near Mentor Civic Center, but not Diamond Center, Tri-Point, or Tyler Blvd. Why can't the YMCA add another location if they feel it is necessary? Or does this sound like just another way to leave the Ville? One comment was complaining about the sliding cost structure at the Y. The name ‘Young Men’s Christian Association’ means to provide for everyone in the community as best you can. That is the Christian thing to do. Have you seen the median income for Painesville? Along with the simple fact that if you don't like being around African-Americans and Hispanics then you are really living in the wrong place. Then again, many of you can't afford to leave, can we? Try to make the best of it. I would really like to see the administration and city council get proactive on this one. A good start would be to sit down with the people from the Y and ask them directly ‘What would it take for you to stay in Painesville?’ Then make it happen. Nothing is impossible…just some things are a little more difficult than others.

Are you a member of the Y?
I didn't think so. FYI it is no longer the YMCA it is the Y. Therefore I will stick to my comment about the "fee free freeloaders" If you can afford the shoes, cell phones, IPads and Pods, plasma tv, cable tv, XBox, Nintendo, WI, PS2,3,4, then you can afford to pay your fair share too. Why isn't it discrimination to have a HIspanic/Black club? But it would be if there were a Caucasion minority club wouldn't it?

Seems you will be probably driving a little further in the future?
Why are you complaining to me about clubs? If you have a problem deal with your "Y" about it.

4:31 Funny where do you get your information? The "Y" is still the YMCA and all the values that go with the name.
For you to suggest it is no longer a Christian organization I question if you belong?
Try to obtain some positive values, something tells me you will be needing soon.

The YMCA would make a better Inn.. give the "others" in town compition... full bar ..full party center... full restaurant and an indoor pool.. so what if the Y leaves...seems the inns are the way of the future in Pvll...

FYI - the City is aware of the survey. They have a good working relationship with Dick Bennett, the YMCA director. I have faith that the Y is not going anywhere, and if it were to consider it, the City would fight for this one. It is a major pillar in our community.

I hears the survey is in regards to opening an additional branch in either Mentor or near TriPoint. It is in addition to Painesville not to replace it.

6:44 I hope your right. Why ask if Painesville should be renovated?
4:52 I also hope your right. I remember being told we had a good relationship with Lake Health too?

The questionaire said; Move, what does move mean to you? Add another location to the one we have? Or close Central and move to a new location. If you people believe our city manager is on top of this just look on Washington St. between Liberty and St. Clair. She was on top of that also.

FYI I have been a member for many years and I do not like the decline I have seen there. I'm not complaining to YOU, I am pointing out the inequities that go on there. I DO have values, that's why I pay the premium price to belong. Those that do not have values are the ones lying about their incomes and legal status to take advantage of a free ride on others dime.
You can find the article regarding the change on the News Herald site.
The 'Y' rebrands, drops 'MCA'

Hang around there and listen to the comments members make. At least I have the guts to make it public.

I got the survey. It was very clear. They will do one of the following, not both. So, they will either renovate the Painesville location or close it and build another CENTRAL YMCA. It clearly stated CENTRAL YMCA when it mentioned the other locations. The city leaders better get on top of this one now. Sounds like the Y is getting ready to leave and laying the groundwork so it won't come as a surprise when they do. I'm thinking 5 years from now as it will take time to build new branch.

Annon You have the guts? I wonder if you have made your position about clubs and fees to the people in charge of the clubs and fees?
You might even have valid points about people lying about income, as well as showing your displeasure of no "white" club's?
I'm not picking on you but really nothing about fees or clubs can be solved here.

3:21 I guess you and I read the survey the same way. Thanks.
Maybe they will give Painesville the building?

As a YMCA member the only topic of conversation I hear concerns the traffic flow getting in or out of here. Who decided this new traffic pattern was safer then it has been for decades?

The Y will leave for the same reason as the Hospital did, to get away from all the low income they are forced to support. If you are not in Painesville you have less availability to low income and do not need to support them. Everyone can call me crazy, but keep hiding your heads in the sand and this exodus will continue, Painesville is becoming the inner city of Lake County. Our city council is to blame because they are afraid to stand up to the county and the landlords to stop this problem.

I watched The Painesville City Council meeting on channel 12. And, as I listened to the city manager, talking about the need to buy a new truck, for ($40,000). The old truck has 29000 miles on it, and it needed a new brake job. It was repaired only two years ago for 2 thousand dollars and needed repaired again. She stated that they would keep the old truck and still use it. My question is: will they also fix the brakes?

My favorite part of the council meetings. When someone mentions/asks how many miles on a vehicle the city manager always has an interesting answer. From "alot" to "those 29,000 miles are Painesville miles." That one got me first I would hope there Painesville miles and is she implying that Painesville miles are different?
Most people consider 29,000 miles a vehicle is just getting broken in.
I would assume the brakes will be repaied But $2000.00 I thought we did our own maintenance?

We can blame none other than all the city council people who were in office when the city council announced to the government higher-ups and the world that we in Painesville love our illegals. There was/is even a song about Painesville, Ohio in the Latino communities all over the United States and in Mexico, and probably in other countries, too, telling illegals that it is safe to come here, and they will be welcomed. Ex-council person Bill Horvath wrote the letter, and everyone else went along with it.

Add to that the low-income housing for all the blacks that have to literally hold up their pants when they are walking so they won't fall down, and we do have a recipe for disaster in this town. I am terrified for the value of my home and for the safety of myself and my family in this town. It's not very politically correct to say it, so that is why they keep getting away with the way they live (50% of the blacks, in my opinion), and what they do to the places they call home. Especially now that they are not content with just ghettos. Now they create war zones.

It was mentioned earlier somewhere on this blog how so many low-income (if they are even telling the truth) people have their hands out at the Y, etc., but have all the latest, most expensive clothes and phones, etc. What hospital, business can survive uder those circumstances. You can't keep giving it all away and survive. And there are less and less people who are paying and paying for the more and more ones who are not.

With all the illegals and the other low-incomes, nobody can survive, and no city can survive too long. If you want to know what will happen to Painesville, go look at Mexico and Cleveland. We're well on our way. Thanks City Manager, McMahon, and city council. A special thanks goes out to former councilpersons Abby Delamonte and Bill Horvath, also, for their success in filling our city with illegals. Much appreciated.

7:16 Was there a reason you ignored some of the low-classed, public assitance white people living in town? Or am I to assume your fine with them?

Term 7:09. This is 7:16.

I have no problem with people of any color or persuasion getting all the help available, for as long as they need it, IF they really need it, AND if they are trying their hardest NOT to need it (IF they legally belong here). And, yes, we have plenty of white cheaters, liars and law-breakers, to be sure. The only thing I can say in their defense, is that it is the exception and not the rule with white people. The majority of white people pull their weight, along with the weight of most other people who are not. They normally do their cheating and lying in other places and in other ways.

However, have you ever seen white people create a country like Mexico? It's no accident their country is what it is; it's the way they made it. And they are doing it to OUR country now. Or do you see white people invading another country and doing their best to bleed it dry and refuse to leave or quit coming? And then blame the country they are illegally in for separating them from their families?!

Have you ever seen white people create a city like Cleveland? And the blacks are STILL blaming it on the whites. It is their own prejudice that is doing this to them, not mine. I fought for blacks all my life, now I am prejudiced, too. And nobody is more prejudiced against anyone more than the blacks are against the whites. Even the ones that have taken their rightful place in America; you would think that they are not prejudiced, but you would be shocked to know how much they are. I would be shocked if someone could prove to me that there were more than 1% of blacks who are not prejudiced against whites, and who do not hand down their hatred to their children. Half their children refuse to be schooled properly, speak proper English or fully join America in any upstanding way.

I think the vast majority of people of all races are cheaters and liars now. I find it a disgusting and sad-but-true fact. The moral codes of the doctors and lawyers, just for one small example, is purely shocking.

So in answer to your question, YES, I have a problem with white cheaters and liars, too. A big problem.

But if this country was filled with only blacks and hispanics, what kind of country do you think we would have? Again, go look at Mexico and Cleveland for the answer.

As more and more blacks refuse to get with the program, and more and more Latinos infiltrate our country, how much longer do you think we can hold our own? Not long, that is for sure.

I would never dispute anyone who feels there are many, many people around here who are stealing benefits, and that they (whether they are white, hispanic or black, etc.), if they are pulling their own weight, are paying more and more for people who are lying. Moral codes seem to be a fading thing of the past. Even my (old) generation, who were brought up with strict rules of behavior, are participating in the immorality at horrifying levels.

It's all shocking, and I'm sick of the stealing and lying, too...white people included.

This is May 9, 7:16 a.m. I made a mistake on that post and want to correct it. I said that former councilman, Bill Horvath, wrote the letter to the higher-ups, telling them that Painesville loved its illegals and didn't want anything done about it. But in fact, that is only what he said, over and over--that he wrote the letter. Come to find out, it was Veronica Dahlberg, leader of the illegals around here, who wrote the letter. He was finally busted when she stood up and admitted it in a council meeting, right after he said again that HE wrote the letter. He signed and mailed the letter (on city letterhead, if I recall), but she is the one who wrote it, not him. Thank you so much, Bill, for my city that is filled with illegals. What a legacy to leave us with. Those of us who fought you and the letter can look around now at our town and see that you accomplished just what we were afraid that you would.
