Term, a huge thank you for this blog and for the POC. Without your efforts, I feel there was a 100% chance they would have gotten us into this new AMP deal.

P.S. Where is Jalapeno Loco?

YOU ARE KIDDING ANOTHER BAR ?

This has to be a big blow to the city manager. Seems council might just be getting wise to what's going on here in Painesville.
Your right about one thing Term she doesn't seem qualified or able to run city businesses.
Ever notice how much time the council meetings take over utilities?

For someone who is against illegal immigration to support a bar with a questionable liquor license and questionable connections to the bar with the same name raided in Mentor for harboring illegals for work.

Credibility?

And you complain about the Rally Team?

First off it's not my decision where the meetings are held.Where was your outrage when the downtown group and city when they have held events there?
Maybe since all you want to do is complain about our meetings, we gave you another reason to get teed-off?
I guess supporting Main St. merchants is restricted to just afew?
How you like them apples?

Interesting you complain about everything else, people and groups included. Different when the shoe is on the other foot. Didn't you complain about tables and chairs on a sidewalk elsewhere? Wonder what Doug Nagy thinks about this blog and the POC now? Do as I say, not as I do comes to my mind about these things.

With all the work the POC is doing for the residents and the good of this city, we have some people (or one person) who just wants to criticize and yell about the meetings being held in restaurant/bars.

I'm personally sick of hearing about it. It's stupid and immature. This is not my blog, so Term can override me, of course, but just don't go to the meetings if you are so unhappy about it. You probably had no intentions of going anyway. I think I would just like to say knock it off already.

8:12 Complain all you want? Tables and chairs that were blocking the sidewalk at La Mexicana? What does Doug Nagy thinks? I don't think he cares one bit about this blog. or the POC.
After watching how empty the restaurant was last night I can only wonder if they will be around in a while.
I guess you could invite us to your house for a meeting?

Seems council president Hada conviction to all things Amp yet in the face of a vote he didn't want to be on the losing side.

The POC was trying to patronize local business. If you know of a restaurant in town that has a place to meet and doesn't have a bar please post it.

You will be happy to know we are trying to make arrangements for the next meeting to be held at the library.

We are trying to help and are open to suggestions.

About meeting at a Bar. Constructive criticism or credibility is one thing. Personal attacks against individuals is something else all together. Asking questions and expecting answers is great. Inferring wrong doing or insinuating blame directed at a single person just because they disagree with you or are of a different party is wrong. There's that credibility issue again. Some people just like to run stealth campaigns or like spreading rumors and half truths to get people riled up.

I guess if you call that complaining then I AM complaining. Otherwise, maybe some just can't make meetings at the times chosen because of work schedules. Believe what you want.

6:41 Please explain what would happen if where you worked and someone commited a 2 million dollar blunder? Inferring wrong doing? Someone did something wrong.
The loss of 2 million dollars, someone has to be held responsible.
This community doesn't have 2 million to waste. You will pay for it in your electric bill.
6:44 I believe she no longer is I will inquire.

6:41 council and the administration gambled with taxpayer money. It was a 50 year take or pay contract with no cap. $2.7 million must come from the budget, our budget which the taxpayers fund.

It is wrong, period.

Can you write a check for the gamble, I cannot.
Did you get anything for your $2.7 million gamble? I did not, just a bill. Where will the money come from?

Who is accountable? I believe that would be every council person who voted; "YES".

C'mon this is an easy one...........

At June 22, 2011 at 2:14 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

6 to nil in the vote ON AMP OHIO. Sounds like a shut out at the ball park.

Where were the votes for the supporters of the AMP contract?

Didn't someone previously 'vote proudly' , not just vote yes, in favor like a legislator, but 'vote proudly' in favor of the initial AMP deal?

Where did that vote go? Was there a great epiphany that transcended space and time into the minds of those that "voted proudly"?

For too long, those that "vote proudly" speak with the substance of a marsh mellow, hollow rhetoric and chest beating platitudes.

The old adage works here, 'kick the bums out'!! KICK THE BUMS OUT!!!!

WHO PROPOSED THIS LEGISLATION IN THE FIRST PLACE?? SUPPORTED IT AND GOT TO BE VOTED ON??

At June 22, 2011 at 2:54 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

6:41 here. You are absolutely correct on the AMP deal and the money owed. Problem is that, for the most part, we don't elect professionals for council. There isn't any degree to qualify you as a council member. Doctors, lawyers, teachers, safety forces and others all need formal degrees or education. None required for council thou. So, unless we become more informed voters and learn about what is going on in the city, we are doomed to get more of the same. That's where your POC can help bring about change. That's why credibility is so important. An example would be a young lady standing on the corner by Lake Truck or the power plant on a late weekend night. What impression does that leave in your head. Say the only time you see a politician is in a bar with a drink in their hand. A drunk???? Informing the public about issues is very important. Attacking and individual does little to promote your cause. I happen to believe Doug Nagy is basically worthless but it is his job to just try and throw a fresh coat of paint over the problem and hoping it will go away. Just my opinion. If he were an elected official, I would support his opponent next election. Name calling, whether it be personal or politically motivated, serves little purpose. The changes must come at election time. We need to elect qualified people and not certain people.

And YES, if I lost my company far less than that, I would be out on the street. That's another problem, most private sector jobs require results. Accountability seems to be missing from the public sector for far too long.

Since I work when you meet, I believe you need to stick to issues and stay away from the personal attacks. You never know when you may need to work with one of these people or groups. You need to keep everyone thinking of your POC positively.

Listing officers was a good start. I also believe you should think about posting minutes here or somewhere. You might get people to attend for their major concerns.

Mattel is coming out with a new JAHADA Doll? When someone around it turns up the heat it melts!
Honestly if I remember the council president has to approve all things on the agenda, if so what were his thoughts?
Let Rita take the heat? I would have had more respect for him if he had voted Yes on principle then to succumb to your mob mentality croud.
True colors are starting to show. Thanks for hanging the city manager out to dry Joe.

Amen to Anon 4:05 I said it long time ago, those but-inskys fooled around and now to appease them we have to pay more for water (ELm St) and the because of the lazy people who couldn't properly recycle, trashed it and more but-inskys making us pay for curbside recycling. Thanks Term and your loser friends.P.S. What's next, before I have to get a third job as you continue to reek havoc on my town.

At June 23, 2011 at 1:31 PM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

Wolverine I guess you would be just fine with rust in your water?
The recycling "Center" would cost the city over $40,000 a year to maintain along with the statement made at the council meeting that the public works department was spending 40 hours a week cleaning the site. It wasn't a recyling anything it was a dump. if you take the two figures together $40,000 plus $800 a week for an employee We just saved the city over $80,000 out of the general fund by getting them to close it.
I have quality friends you though might be the loser?

TERM, please explain. I remember you reaming the Rally Group for not going after the employers who hire illegals. Not that you did anything yourself to go after the employers but you felt the Rally Group should expend their efforts at the employers. You were very firm about that and very critical of the Rally Group. Well, Jalapeno is a known employers of illegals and human trafficking. One of the same owners from the Mentor site is listed on the Painesville site. And here you are giving them business. Me thinks you speak out of both sides of your mouth. You just wanted something to justify your ridicule of the Rally Group. How do you like them apples?

Hey 4:05 and Wolverine....I don't see your (or my) payments going to Owego St...last I heard the money goes to city hall. And how can you blame Term et al for raising your bills when its the PEOPLE IN CHARGE that dropped the ball and then had to cover their collective butts. What if Term (and lots of others) hadn't spoken up against AMP Ohio and we got back in bed with them and it cost us even more than the 2.7 mil we already owe....would you blame him and Mad Potter for that too? Oh and in case you didn't figure this one out...Term's bills went up right along with everyone else's. I guess it's easy for you to put his face on your anger at the mismanagement of this city...but don't kill the messenger.

PS. Wait til someone at Cobblestone dies waiting for an EMS...it will cost us more to fix that problem too...but I'd rather figure out a way to lower response times now than pay a lawsuit later. Thank city management for annexing land they didn't plan services for properly...not Term or anyone else that holds up the mirror for them.

Well We might be "Hispandering" to them, but truly we did it to move the meetings around.
Seems no one thinks employers would hire illegals why would we buck that logic?
We're not chasing them at employer shops, what would the Chamber of Commerce think?
Many Painesville organizations hold meeting there.

To the best of my research, it looks like Jalapeno Loco still doesn't have its own liquor license. There is a reason they couldn't get one. But the city is allowing them to use the previous owner's liquor license. The state wouldn't let them get their own license because of their past record. That speaks a lot. It also speaks a lot for the city that they found a way to circumvent this checks and balance system by allowing them to use the previous owner's license.

Term, what say you to 9:15 AM.

I doubt the rally group meets there. If what above is true, why do you?

To 9:15 Beats another beautiful "FOR RENT" sign.

At June 26, 2011 at 6:50 AM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

Well, Term or even the POC has zero control over what liquor licenses are allowed in Painesville I guess that question should be asked of the city or state. The last time I looked is was run legally to all concerned.
You make it sound like I promoted the meeting there to get under the rally team's skin? That wasn't my call.
I am sure that at every venue the rally team has it's meetings they check licenses, employment records, along with who handles outside contractors like landscaper's ect. Ask them?

At June 26, 2011 at 7:05 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

TERM 6:50am, it is common knowledge about Jalapeno Loco. You yourself have even mentioned this in past posts. No research was necessary to know there are some irregularities with this location. I don't think you met there to get under the skin of the Rally Group, although that may have been your goal. But I think it is just that it is a "do as I say, not as I do" philosphy. You want the Rally Group and others to go after employers, but you do nothing. You not only do nothing, you actually support them. I can tell you, like me or not like me, I am true to my beliefs and I wouldn't knowingly support a business with this reputation.

7:05 I guess he/she no longer even goes to the library they give cards to illegals. 7:05 Shut your water and electricity off while your at it. It's COMMON KNOWLEDGE that the city will sell utility's to illegals. This bunch of complainers expect Term and the rally group to do the heavy lifting while he/she holds your coats.
You want to know why Painesville's in the shape it's in listen to 7:05's logic.
I can only wonder about that persons reputation!
I have never heard the rally team approach Painesville council but I do remember you making the arguement to council that finally we did something right. Right after V.D. complained about the ICE raids.
They are STEALTH and they will stay that way!

What presently is the state doing but cutting everyones budget. Not even the Presidental candidates are talking about illegals?
