There was a single home house fire [some reports say an explosion] in the Homewood, Charlotte St. area early this morning. The county coroner has been called to the scene of the fire.
It was the corner of Homewood and Charlotte - the home of Ms. Arden Smith, retired gym teacher at Huntington and Cedarbrook. I live within 200 yards of that home and can say that there was exactly ONE gas truck there, with 3 workers, between 6:00 and 8:15 am. If more came later, I stand corrected, but there were most definitely NOT 6. Save your false comments for the News Herald online.
There were 5 gas company vehicles 3 trucks and 2 cars, all with Dominion on them. [The rest of this post has been censored due that it implies wrong doing by a local service company.] TERM>>
Why don't you post your name and accusation's so I can verify your comment? Or is your purpose for this blog. and myself to give you cover? I would like to be able to prove things posted here. If you claims are true we will all know soon enough.
THE JOKE IS THE PEOPLE WHO WILL NOT SIGN THEIR REAL NAME,example 2;40 post. [TO POST 11;13] this blog has good information about local issues. THANK YOU TERM FOR YOUR TIME AND HARD WORK. TONY.
Actually - there is NOT a 24 hour guard sitting there...unless you see something I haven't. Detective Levicki was quoted in the News Herald saying that there would be, but in the over a week since the fire I have not seen one officer/guard there once. I haven't been past since Tuesday, but I also think it is a little disconcerting that they said it would be torn down late last week and it was still standing earlier this week.
If there is not going to be someone there, it needs to be torn down! It's a huge safety hazard!
Katie your not very observant. I have seen that unmarked police car, silver Ford Fusion parked in the driveway to the next house all the time. You wonder why it hasn't been torndown yet? Think about it. I would like to see your vision of Painesvilles future and in the process explain your views of the present city managher and administration?
Beware of Katie, How could she say there was no one at that house if she wants to do a good job, she must look at everything not just one side and how fast does she want someone to do a good job, RUSH RUSH not smart.
Well you might say we need less rush on somethings and more rush on others. Waterline on Elm St. seems council seems to think theres no rush, and at the same times rushs into AMP-OHIO deals. Go figure?
9:13 Why are you on this post? I will bet if you lived inone of those 26 homes you would believe this should be worked on first. What do you propose should be ahead of that issue?
To 1:15: People have water coming into their homes that is not clean! Maybe you could change homes with them so they could have your clean water, while you have their dirty water until trouble makers like you are satisfied that you have caused enough trouble. Please, if the city cannot provide its citizens clean water, then what is the city there for? Certainly the red banded fire hydrants are an issue, but clean water has to win out.

You should just post the comments as you get them. Who put you in charge of what we need to know?
He is god, the post master
Do you need to know facts/or accusations?
Why should I be held responsible for the yet unproven?
HA, HA, HA, HA What a joke

This is not a blog site, its a gossip column. Lots of things go unproven and not verified. So yes it is a joke.
Ha, Ha, Ha one more joke
Why is there a 24 hour guard sitting in a car at that house, does anyone know ?
Probably because of the loss of life. Not an offical cause of the explosion from the state fire marshall.

26 homes the water line is not a big deal, there are more things that need worked on first.

I purpose that that any house that has a fire hydrant with a red band on it have the highest priority
