I recently read a story about an Akron woman who was charged with a felony and spent nine days in the Summit County Jail. Kelley Willams-Bolar is a single mother and was going to college and working for the Akron School System.[If anyone should know]
She illegally enrolled her two children in the Copley-Fairlawn School District where her father is a resident. There seems to have been a problem with resolving this issue without having to go to court for a felony charge, but that's another story.
Why bring this up here on the Painesville blog.?
Well, it seems to be a known fact that there are many illegal immigrants living in our city who legally send their children to Painesville City Schools. Will someone explain to me why these people are not taken to court and charged with the same statutes as Kelly Williams-Bolar? If you are not a citizen of the United States how can you possible be a resident of Painesville?
To those of you who believe we don't have a major illegal problem here in Painesville, why is it I see HOLA and/or Victoria Dahberg constantly asking for special treatment for people who are caught?
To some of you in the school administration; passing this levy will be harder than you might believe. I have heard a steady chorus from people who privately believe they are being ask to fund a social problem they choose not to be involved with.

The reason I ask is if you are broke why would the first thing you would do is to spend the levy on wages and fringe benefits?

Your post is shockingly true, Term. How CAN illegals be citizens of Painesville?
While the government wants to legalize them, and in the meantime is doing nothing about the problem, the illegals know that they are coasting to their goal of taking over our country. With every new illegal who is allowed to enter and/or stay, and with every birth, they are one more step closer to their goal. Soon they will have enough numbers to elect Hispanics to all government positions, and they, of course, will make sure that the Hispanics are legalized and take over America. By their huge numbers alone it will be a piece of cake, and it is happening already all across America. They are one step closer every day, and they know it. Americans are just sitting on their butts and letting it happen and thinking the only threat is if the government legalizes them or not, when the only way to save America is to get them out now - right now - and prevent any more from coming in.

Everyone's hands are tied and since Hitler's days, no one is required to carry papers to prove their nationality. WHAT SHOULD this government do, and not just Painesville local government.
Even if you can't control the illegals... For crying out loud, don't give the ones born here of undocumented parents a social security number and citizenship!!! This gives the Mexicans incentive to have babies the minute they set foot into Texas. Heck, the smart ones come over 8 mos. Pregnant. Do we all remember what a baby costs to deliver? It's sickening and scary. Is there a method to the govt. madness? Because I can't see it. This is a serious problem and not a bleeding heart issue of humanity.
This brings up a few points. It is an Ohio law that says all children between 6 and 16 must go to school where their "residence" is at. The law says nothing about legal, citizenship, or anything of the sort.There have been some challenges and "interpretation" of that law has been a residence is anywhere that "family type" activities take place, like meals, sleeping, bathing, etc.
I am not sure what our schools require when registering a child but the school system does have the right to ask for proof of certain things like "residence, etc.
The other item the Ohio law allows for is that it is the parents responsibility to make sure that child is in school. Consequences for failing to do that goes all the way up to Jail time.
I wonder, if we measure graduation rates, yet our laws only expect children to be in school until 16 years old is that fair?
The easiest way to get all illegals out is to go after employers. Period. If there are no jobs, they will go home. Much easier than trying to get all 20 million or so of them out ourselves. After that, anyone they find gets thrown out immediately.
The employers like CORE or STP will tell you they have no illegal employees. What they don't tell you is they use temp services that do.

The city has looked the other way for way to long. Thanks to our city leaders, now our school system is in dire straits.

You all seem to be against illegal immigration. Good. Now let's see some action. This problem won't get fixed by voicing your opinion here. There are a group of people who make regular trip to Columbus to testify before our representatives. They meet regularly with our reps in Columbus and let them know what is needed. They have presented potential legislation for the reps to present. What have you done? And TERM says he is against illegal aliens, but he undermines anything these people do. I don't understand that.

I agree with 5:43. If we are going to bring the discussion down to such a ridiculous level, then no wonder we can't get the illegals out and keep more from coming in. If you don't like the group and don't appreciate everything they have done for your country, then at least give them credit for their monumental efforts, and do everything that you can on your own to help the cause. 5:43 7:21 What exactly has this group of people accomplished? As I drive down South St. Clair St. they have not made any impact. We even hold city celebrations at a restaurant with a dubious owner.Lots of smoke and mirrors but hardly accomplishments maybe Term just sees through it all, I know 15 minutes into a rally I did.

I've said it many times here, you can't sit behind your computer and whine about these things. You cant go to council meetings and complain constantly without bring some reasonable answers and solutions to your own problems.

Your right, I have no understanding how government works. Why is our recycling center the way it is, why we have so many people living in town that shouldn't even be here, I would never be able to figure out how to explain the "power factor" to the average resident. Even something as simple as ,"why is there an orange barrel at the intersection of South and Liberty St. for the pass two months? It confuses me to think making our streets smaller and less parking spots will improve business downtown. People wanting to move onto the site of the former hospital, I just don't see the vision.
One thing I could do is keep asking for more and more money from the people living here to fund all of these failures.
Oh, and I would have never voted to get Painesville into a 50 year agreement for a coal power plant.

If you want to find the illegals start looking at the small independant businesses. When you see a truck with four Hispanics spreading mulch for one of our esteemed landlords that is the people you want to question.
Large businesses are smart enough they are not going to jepardize a company reputation to save a few dollars.

I haven't read this site for awhile so I am behind in reading this. First of all, that group that you don't like, well they do their research. You can't legally picket a company you suspect of hiring illegals without some major legal ramifications. You have to have documented proof. That isn't easy to come by. So they are fighting employers by pushing the e-verify for employers to be required to use. If we can make employers be required to use e-verify that will eliminate a good majority of illegals being hired. Of course some can always slip through the cracks with some advanced identify theft, but it will make a big dent. There are right and wrong ways to go about things. You jump on this group without really knowing what they are doing. They have proposed legislation, they are continually meeting in columbus to encourage our reps to vote for e-verify, and they have driven around the county distributing literature to companies informing them about e-verify. They personally visited every nursery and let them know about e-verify and that they are watching them. Put them on notice, so to speak. Now because you don't know what they are doing you think they have ignored the employers. Well, there's a lot you don't know. And B.E.WARE, I too would like to know what company you are going to picket. Or did you find out that it isn't that easy? Or is it just easier to malign by computer than it is to get off your butt and do something.

B.E.WARE, the members of the rally group are not hiding in anonymity. When it was first formed I think they would have liked to have been anonymous out of fear for their safety. But the work they do is very visible and their names have all come out. Some of them are quoted in the paper quite regularly. They have testified with their own names before House committees in Columbus. Their pictures have appeared in the papers with their names. You certainly have not done much research if you still say they are anonymous. It doesn't make any sense for your hatred of them. They have never hurt you. They have never hurt anyone.
