"CHRISTMAS PRESENT" andy williams

Wonder if our city fathers will put anything under our tree this year?

Will that Urgent Care Center become more then a thought? (After all, it was promised for last April.

Will the Millstone situation be resolved? I don't know what to say about that situation anymore. I guess I hope we all live long enough to see the outcome.

Will the city do anything for the taxpayers at Cobblestone? Maybe a portable defibrillator?

The Phantom bridge for the road to nowhere...maybe see steel instead of air in the near future?

Heisley Park residents getting industrial sized sump pumps?

The hospital site rise like a Phoenix for Painesville's future?

Will there be closure for Mr. Herron and Steele Mansion? Have I been told some interesting details about his dealings with the city? Will I get some verification so I can post about it?

Will our city leaders ever figure out that AMP-OHIO doesn't give a damn about Painesville? Maybe Santa will drop 2.7 million off at city hall?

The city will pay Waste Management $20,000 until July, to continue the re-cycling center. It was suggested that maybe they could bring in "nicer" Dumpsters? Maybe we'll just get that fence instead.

Maybe we won't always have to think small in the "VILLE"
*************************************************************************************

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU!

At the last council meeting Mr. Fodor claimed "we are running the city in the black."
82 million budget with 74 million in revenue hardly seems to be running in the black?

Maybe Mr. Fodor took a math refresher course at HHS last year.

People like Term , by his own admission have no clue along with an uneducated idea how a budget functions. Councilman Flock is just as bad. I will give him some credit for at least voting No to the budget since he seems to not have a clue of whats facts the budget's intangables.
How much longer will be have to be subjected to him being voted in in Ward 1? It's time to move forward Painesville. This man is consumed with a 2.7 million dollar bill that simply does't exist.

I guess it's the public dollar method...run in the black until your reserves are gone....that's running in the red to me...but what do I know?

Maybe Mr. Fodor should have looked at his numbers closer?
Then again he probably had to do the school systems budget? Look where that's got us.
First we don't need an assistant city manager, a city planner, community development department.
Outsource as many jobs as you can. Along with developing regional safety forces and for God sake get a city manager that knows the facts!

Let's face it Painesville's administration along with council will never solve this from the inside.
The administration is top heavy and council will never oppse their "friends".
Maybe the city can explain why the policeman at Harvey is paid by the city? My concern I live in Painesville but am in the Riverside School District.

Hey there 8:01 a.m.

Is it really better? Keep tearing stuff down and I have yet to see anything but a park go in. Oh wait there are flower boxes on the bridge. We have talked about flower boxes and planters too long! The only one happy is City Architects who got the grant money. I am will to bet if we had taken that grant money and actually sunk it into physical structures we would have been much farther along. But no we have sat around tables and hosted community meetings to figure out how to do this. For godsake, somebody get a backbone and plant a freak'n tree!

I spent a lot of time working in parks and people don't go to the park to do nice things, I hope I'm wrong but I am not optimistic. At that cess pool in the north end is gonna be great for mosquitos. I know about those too as I live up the hill from the lovely Gristmill complex. Gorgeous! What a jewel in the city's crown.

Took my recyclables to the "center" today and YIKES!
There was so much trash it was ridiculous! More paper blowing out of the dumpster than in the dumpster. I took my recyclables down the road to another city.
Wow, really nice! A fence, painted dumpsters, clean.
If the city manager and her dept. heads can't get the recycling center in this city together I hold out little hope for a balanced budget.

Oh and the tax revenue from all those parks is just staggering, right along with the revenue from the old Harvey High School Land we will get from Lake Erie College.

But that's ok, keep tearing stuff down and giving stuff away and applying for grants to employ out of town contractors....... yeah she and council are doing a bang up job!

Merry Christmas........

madpotter, The ugly truth is no private money wants to invest in Painesville. Our city manager has probably chased the few that wanted to away. Didn't fit her scheme of things. Grant money will soon dry up and we will be left with nothing. City Architecture came with THEIR plan. The community meetings were just a dog and pony show. We have to get these people to stop thinking about losing Lake East.
On top of it all we pay North Coast over $4,300 a month to oversee the demolisment of the building.
Flower pots and restriped streets Painesville's future.

Only you would see humor in a song that makes our city look bad.

Cut the city staff by 15% to start. This will begin to assist us in dropping the taxes.

How does this song make our town look bad?
Granted it ain't "I left my heart in San Francisco", but it's a catchy little tune with a play on words. Lighten up we have bigger problems.
Merry Christmas.

To 8:01...here's how a city budget works....just like any other public entity; spend all the money in your budget because if you don't, you won't get it in next year's budget. Don't EVER cut anything in a meaningful way because when times get better you won't get it back. Don't make unpopular decisions or long-range plans because you won't get re-elected (or re-appointed).
And so our city manager DID make a long range plan (annexation) that will be one of her albatrosses. And the master plan is a joke...lets propose something to make everyone feel warm and fuzzy and then change it behind their backs. And continue to make deals with a company (AMP-Ohio) that has cost us an undetermined exorbitant amount of money without so much as a candle in return.
You have the temerity to bash Mr Flock....from where I sit (and it's NOT in his ward either) he's the only one sitting at that head table that has the guts to say no when necessary and integrity to take the time to educate himself about the big issues. Mr Fodor and Ms Dinallo are just about at the end of their honeymoon phase and I think its time they stepped up. The rest of council is ineffectual; too worried about their power base, social position, health insurance or re-election to actually do their jobs. Ms Rita may be eminently qualified to do the job but she has let her personality defects (we all have them) get in the way with dealing with people and accepting constructive critisism. Term may be harsh on occasion but nice guys get nowhere dealing with our administration.
And you are absolutely right....it is time for Painesville to move on.

The labels on your Christmas presents, Term, are hilarious ("AMP pay back"), etc. Too bad it's all true, or it would be even funnier.

Merry Christmas to you too.

Thank-you whoever you are for 2.7 million dollars in Monopoly money left in my mailbox.

Should have left it at the city managers house.

Everyone seems to be into "re-gifting", Term. You should re-gift that 2.7M to Rita!

Merry Christmas (and all other holidays this season) to all.

I have read every comment on this sight from way back in the day. Back in 2003, 2004, and the Most
Important Year of 2005. 2005 of the Charter-Levy that would have
taxed every business/home-owner forever. 2005 was the Year of the Total Start of the Take-Over by the City RM to do and accomplish final rights as the city charter God. We walked, we talked, we had an abundance of signs against this Phoney Charter Levy; and we also asked to not re-elect those that would pass this and put this City in future danger.
Fast Forward: All of your comments and solutions should have been attached to all of those vital years. Not wasted, year after year!
