"MAGIC BUS" who

Well I see my favorite activist Veronica Dahlberg {HOLA} is taking three buses from Painesville and Ashtabula to Washington D.C. to press President Obama and Congress for Immigration reform.
Boy do I wish I was one of those bus drivers. "Driver why do you keep heading south, shouldn't we be heading east by now?" "Hey, that's not the Potomac River, that's the Rio Grande!" Wonder if they got any sympathy from the "Tea Partiers?" when they showed up?
First off this is not immigration reform, this is letting over 12 million people who broke the law to get into this country. Amnesty is not reform. This process will be repeated again in twenty years At the present time they should have stayed home, with all that's going on in Washington about heath care the last thing anybody wants to tackle right now is this, whether you are on the right or left.
Veronica claims the system is "broke". Veronica, the only thing broke is me, and the country over stupid policy's such as the one you propose.
I must say I finally heard a good argument for health care reform. Senator Lindsay Graham [R-SC} Was quoted today as saying if the health care bill passes. That will kill any immigration reform in the future.
Bring on the hate mail!

Once again Dahlberg is blaming the U.S. for separated families. Lets see. They come here illegally, leave their families behind, then blame the US because the rest of their family is not HERE.

I don't get Graham's statement that the passage of the health care bill will stop any future work on immigration. Please explain -- I didn't hear him say it, and I am not getting it.

Can you imagine how enormously improved the United States finances would be if all the illegals were thrown out? We'd probably save enough in health care alone to get us out of debt.

The only solution to illegal aliens crossing our border is 'If you hire an illegal alien, you go to jail!' That will stop all illegal immigration.

Saw this one coming;
As reported in todays News-Herald.
As the afternoon wore on, demonstrators from both sides began to mingle, crossing the Capital driveway that had separated them. Some engaged in heated one-on-one debates. Others formed groups and attempted to drown out each other out in a shouting matches.
Adding to the chaos, several hundred marchers from the earlier immigration reform rally marched between the two groups, beating drums and chanting in Spanish. As they passed, many shouted out in support of the contingent in favor of the health care bill.
Ah, Timing is everything.
Little do they realize this bill will just about end any debate about anything until after the elections.

I'm with you, 5:46. Not too long ago, I wrote President Obama a letter about amnesty. I told him that he did not have the right to give away my country. I told him he did not have the right to give away my children's country.

He wrote me back about how they were too much a part of our workforce to deport them. I wrote HIM back and told him I was well aware of how many American jobs they are stealing from Americans. For example, American workers can't even GET a job in construction if you are in Florida. You have to be hispanic to get hired. And it goes on and on. Since when don't Americans want factory, landscaping, roofing, etc. jobs that these people now work.

We need a temporary worker program for illegals who want to work in the fields only. They can give them two year passes (or one year). If they are not working in THAT same place in the winter, then they can go home until the next growing season. After their two years are up, then the next person in line gets a short-term pass.

We need to get a handle on ALL immigration. I personally think immigration should just be stopped until we get all the illegals out and we take a good, controlled look at what programs we have and how many people it involves. Even Rome fell. We are not invincible. Can you imagine how much more money our country and our health care system would have if not for the illegals? The people against amnesty must be louder than those for it.

How much nerve does it take to enter another country illegally and then march on that country's government demanding citizenship and rights. And how stupid does a government and country need to be to let that happen. Answer: Stupid enough to lose your country.

Two or three years ago, I heard someone high up in the Mexican government talking on the radio. He said that they estimated then that there were 20 million illegal Mexicans in the U.S. Said they had the ghose towns to prove it. And that's just the Mexicans. How many millions are here from other countries? And that was then. Can you imagine how many are here now with all this talk of amnesty?

They've all had a trillion babies since they've been here, too, and those babies are all legal citizens since nobody has changed that law, either. Even if all these people are sent home now, they will all get back eventually with their legal kids. If we don't get them all out of our country now, in every legal way possible, we are doomed. And remember, each one of them have 100 more relatives that they are waiting to bring over to join them. You know how that bad, bad USA keeps separating families. Just ask Dahlberg.

If we got rid of the Mexicans alone, it would probably wipe out unemployment in the U.S. We would also save so much money on welfare, free hospital bills, etc. that we would be awash in money. Get rid of the rest of the illegals from all the other countries that are here, and there would be no more talk of national debt and Social Security running out of money.

Let them go beat their drums in Mexico and march on their own government. I cannot believe we allow this. The word stupid just keeps coming to mind. How do you say stupid in Spanish. If we don't do something now, we are all going to have to learn, because this will be a Spanish country sooner than we could even imagine. There are also other cultures that are taking us over. The Mexicans aren't the only threat.

One of the things that people against amnesty need to do is to support those in the public eye who express their opinions against amnesty. Many people have backed down in our government, for example, because of public heat, and I think one or two public personalities have also taken huge hits for expressing opinions on that subject. Those FOR amnesty try to get them out of office and/or fired, so those AGAINST amnesty need to make sure that our voices are stronger as we protect them from any harm. After all, they are putting themselves out there for our benefit, too.

I want to agree with 2:40. The reason the people who want amnesty use the word racist is because we are so ridiculously and dangerously "politically correct" in this country, that they know most people won't speak the truth for fear of being called a racist. It has worked very well and has allowed them to invade our country by the millions -- coming close now to being able to take it over.

Americans need to "buck up" and realize that we not only have the right to fight for our country in every legal way possible, but it is also our duty.

To 9:37: I'm a liberal, and I am not stupid. I was, in fact, in the forefront of this fight several years ago when everyone else was still afraid of being called a racist. It is true that it is was the liberals who were mostly pushing for legalization, but it was President Bush, too, and most of the Republicans. You will recall, that there were only a few Republicans that had the courage to stand up. I hope I am mistaken, but I think most of them have also buckled under pressure.

I don't think it's the liberals who are using the word racist or the emotions that come with it. I think it's the hispanics and the illegals, and all the people that are fighting for THEM.

Years ago, I started writing to many of the people in office, begging them all to do the right thing for our country and not for the votes. I still do, and I write to both Republicans and Democrats because that is where the problem lies. I tell them that if they ALL do the right thing for the country, then nobody will lose votes over the issue, freeing them up to save our country and not their own party.

Look around 9:37, it ain't just the liberals. You'd better be talking to your own party, too.

If you want to see what happens when a country does not have a universal language, you need look no further than Canada. Canada is a country divided by two different languages, French and English, of course, and the fight goes on. We need one universal language here, and that is English. Everyone has always been able to speak their tongue amongst themselves, but it has always been the case that we have one main language here. I asked my French grandparents when I was young why hadn't they taught me to speak French. They said because President Roosevelt told everyone to embrace the American way if they wanted to come to America, and that meant to speak English. It certainly has worked so far.

As reported by The News-Herald yesterday:

Sens. Chuck Schumer, Democrat, and Lindsey Graham, Republican, released their outline of a bill last week on what should be done with all the illegals.

Suffice it to say that they want them to jump through a few stupid hoops to appease the American public, and then they will legalize all of them. Then our whole country will go to hell.

It's not just the liberals, and people had better stop screaming across party lines if they want to save America.

And can somebody please tell me what in the world the NAACP is doing helping the illegals get legalized. Do they not understand that the blacks already were citizens that just had not been recognized as such. They were AMERICANS that needed protections and rights in their own country. This has NOTHING to do with the illegals. Not the same issue at all. So now we're fighting the NAACP too.

ILLEGAL Immigration?

One thing about amnesty is that only law breakers need amnesty. So if the Hispanics who demand amnesty, then they are fully aware that they are breaking the law.

With all the talk about health care lately we need to realize that we are paying for free health care for them now and will continue in the future. I have yet to see anywhere where it will require this group to obtain insurance and how they (IRS) can collect from them. In other words, we will continue to add more and more people to the list who get free health care and pass the burden on to the rest of us. So if they are under the table or not in the system, they will continue to receive free care and not be paying into the system.

Also, I was just thinking the other day where are the Hispanic supported clinics, food banks, housing task force, or any other agency that gives assistance to the poor? You know one where anyone can get assistance regardless of race. One would think that with the growing Hispanic population, that a Hispanic doctor, lawyer or some other professional would set up practice here.

Maybe I am blind or maybe I am just of the wrong nationality to qualify. I know our church and the groups I volunteer for don't discriminate based on race. We do check to see if they qualify based on need alone and not just because they are of a certain nationality.

So, Veronica, until you start stepping up to the plate and facing the fact that if you want amnesty, then you need do what is necessary to make them legal. Instead of protesting and crying racism, try getting your people to volunteer to help all the needy in the area regardless of race. Until you do this you can't use the race card without looking in the mirror. Until you do this you are just adding to the welfare rolls that we all can't afford. If you claim you are all hard working then go to the area business' and see if the local citizens aren't hard working too. Drive around Painesville and look at the front porches of these multi-multi men or family homes that have groups of men sitting on the front porches. If you can show me where these groups aren't a drain on our welfare and health system, Then you can say they are all hard working and aren't on welfare. I know there is a big difference in who shows up at the emergency room and my doctor's office. There is a big difference who shows up to help a the local food banks and the various United Way events to help and those who are only there to collect.

So again I say. Instead of protesting and crying racism, try getting your people to volunteer to help all the needy in the area regardless of race.

Time to ask how to help instead of demanding help.

By granting general amnesty to our criminal who are behind bars, wouldn't we be inviting just more crime and criminals. Crime and ILLEGAL immigration without penalties or consequences. Is this really what we want or need.

At March 24, 2010 at 6:10 AM , Anonymous Badger said...

ILLEGAL immigration and Veronica.

My point exactly. If you can support yourself in Mexico, why come here. They want us to support them.

Take a look at the ones crossing the border. Look at the pictures. Do they look like they have money in their pockets? If they did, how do they not get robbed? Do they look like they are headed to a job? Do they have a sponsor like the rest of our immigrants?

No money, no job, means no health insurance or place to live. If they had any of the above, why doesn't a family member or someone meet them at the airport, train station or bus stop? How many of you would go to another country without a job, money or a place to live? No one. Why, because no other country would allow it. Brave, yes, but the bottom line is that someone has to support them. That someone is our welfare, health and school systems along with volunteer organizations that are stretched to the limit now. Who pays for all these social services? We do. I would be first to help my fellow man, I just can't support everyone's fellow man.

The richest man in the world is from Mexico. What does he do? He's a drug dealer. The drug cartels are now targeting Americans in Mexico like the Embassy workers recently. If the county of Mexico or their own people can't or won't help these people, why come here and demand we help?

As I said, I help my fellow man regardless of who he is. I don't help those who try to defraud the system or break the law and then demand I overlook that fact and grant them amnesty.

Need food or a doctor, I will help anyone. Demand to move into my house and tell me to support you and then call me a racist if I don't, I have to draw the line and I have little sympathy. The people of America are some of the most caring and generous people in the world, so why threaten, demand and call them racist?

I think the problem is now that both sides have figured out that the illegals and their backers scream louder than the anti-amnesty Americans. They have also figured out that whatever side is against amnesty, the other side will use it against them to win elections. That's why I keep writing to both Democrats and Republicans telling them if BOTH sides agree to knock off the support of amnesty and to get the illegals out, then they could all just focus on saving our country and not just their own jobs. It's not working, needless to say.
"Democrat Sue"

As far as "ramming" things through, Term. In my opinion, the only thing they rammed through is the children's health care bill in the very beginning of Obama's presidency. I thought the Republicans had some valid points, but weren't given a chance, or so I thought at the time. Now I see why maybe they did that. If they already knew that the Republicans were not going to cooperate on anything at anytime, maybe that was justified -- I don't know. Would have to go back and look at that, but even I didn't like that.

As far as "ramming" other things through. That's just a Republican fight word that has stuck. They've helped Americans in many, many important ways that needed to be addressed for many years. Student loans, mortgage help, credit card regulations, gift card regulations. etc. Many consumer protections that should have been in place a long time ago. Obama said he was going to help the average American, and he is -- except that he, too, wants to give away our country to the illegals.

And Badger is right. We are just going to keep paying and paying and paying for the illegals. I think there could be as many as 40 million here if you count all the countries that are represented. These idiots in our government don't even have any idea how many people they are talking about, and can't you just see people flying across the borders by the millions as we speak?

I think the only way to save our country is for all people who are against amnesty to get off their butts and help in the fight. Too many people are leaving the fight to someone else. We have to show the government (or should I say the babies that run our country) that the legal Americans are with both parties equally and nobody will lose if they get them out. Then maybe they would share their playground and tinker toys long enough to actually do the right thing in this regard.

At March 24, 2010 at 11:41 AM , Anonymous Badger said...

Term, you are right that the two Sue's need to talk. Wouldn't it be nice to know what you are talking about so you could actually debate the real issues and be able to ask informed questions. Just as the Republicans aren't always wrong so is the opposite true that the Democrats aren't always right.

Imagine this. The AMP Ohio contract was 2700 pages and it kept changing up until the time it was voted on at council. Rita M., Joe H., Joe G. wrote this contract in a special meeting and handed it to the rest of council just before the meeting and Rita told council it had to be passed that night. No public debate. No input from the rest of council. Just vote yes.

To further ensure a passing, Rita told Andy that he would get almost a million dollars for airports in his ward. Then she told Lori she would sign an executive order not to pay for abortions out of the utilities budget and then not sign the order after Lori voted yes. Imagine her telling Hal that ILLEGAL immigrants couldn't enroll in a health care plan yet not make a provision to ensure that since everyone will be covered.

I wonder what the topic here for something like that would be. I wonder what you (Term), Tony, John and Andy's reaction would be. If only enough people in Painesville cared, you would probably march on City Hall with you as they did in DC over the weekend. To get the two Sue's to talk, you need them to come to the same table with an open mind willing to listen to the other side. Neither side gets an egg timer. When was the last time you were invited to Rita's table.

The more power one side has the less likely they are to listen. I have said it here before. It is hard to tell the difference between the federal government and our local government.

How's it go : Absolute power corrupts absoulutly. Or never argue with a drunk (with power) person..... I think it is time to leave one's hat at the door and just take a seat at the table.

Badger: Yes the buck stops at the voting booth. Unfortunately all of us do not press the issue of total justification for the voting booth promises. We listen and say or semi-say, that sounds congruent.
Prove with total justification of your words and supposed plans. If these are not received, push them harder to totally prove their statements/promises/methods for current/future issues.
As I watch channel 12 and the answers given to painesville folks, I see painesville folks just accepting the statements of the Cm - which we all know by now are fragrant/not the truth as they change with every meeting and request. I also see our many representatives, who speak against the CM policies, going on and backing her even though they know her policies are not in the best interest of the City of Paine.

As for the Latino/Mexicans, and whatever their names are now, being a slippery sneak into the United States: Rules of constitutional laws are there and they have been there since 1986.
The constitution of this great country dictates what the Senate and the Congress can and cannot do.

Again, the voting booth dictates. This voting booth also allows all of us to congregate and come forward to join any multitude to file suit against our government agencies because they (our representatives) DO NOT abide by the Constituion of the United States.
The Laws are the Laws of this Country - they are being ignored on every level of Government.

A mighty revolution of all is about to begin.

Okay Term and Badger. Thanks for the explanations.

This is what I think needs to happen with the anti-amnesty protest now. We have to make our wording more specific. Neither side will do anything about it because they are too afraid of losing at the voting booths. The message now has to be: "Republicans and Democrats: (or Democrats and Republicans:) No amnesty. All illegals out now."

It's not working to have the generic message. It has to specifically -- in calls, letters, signs and demonstrations be aimed at both parties and that needs to be spelled out. It's the only hope we have that both parties will quit worrying about themselves and start worrying about our country. And when they say ridiculous things like the poor, poor families are separated, we need to tell them, apparantly, that the illegals can fix that problem quite easily -- they can go home.

I think if there was a march on Washington with those signs and that message specifically, it could start taking the "us vs. them" mentality out of it, and let them (the Republicans and the Democrats) see that they can ban together now with neither side losing any more than the other politically.

At March 24, 2010 at 8:06 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I forgot to add this to my last post. We also need to let them (the Republicans and the Democrats) know that we recognize the need for a revolving temporary workers program for field workers only. Without that, they will not know how they can solve that problem.

The liar, liar thing gets old after awhile. A little childish too. Is she a new to the site? Haven't heard her or Republican Sue before. Did I miss something?

I have known both these ladys for quite some time. I only mentioned them in regards that they both had the same first names.Yet both sit 180 degrees apart on politics. Although both seem totally against Amnesty. Something I soon realized that they were on the same page on. Will they work together? They are both good people who I call my friends and both have followed this blog. for along time.
I respect everyones views and when I have disagreed with them I have told them..... To no avail.

To 9:37: This is Democrat Sue. I believe I have only stated that the Republicans lie one time on this blog. Would have to go back and look at my posts, but I think that is the case, although I certainly stand by that statement. Everyone who is calling the Republicans liars on this blog is not me. The 8:02 and the 8:06 post is also me, for example, and so is the 2:48, 12:11 and 11:47, so let's get over the Democrat Sue thing, please.

This is Democrat Sue adding to my last post. If Republican Sue is who I think she is, we have physically worked side by side on quite a few occassions on the anti-amnesty and one other issue. Aside from her Republican political views, I like her a lot, and I consider her a friend. Hopefully she would say the same except that she would be using the word Democrat.

I didn't think it was you. Its probably that "Independent Karen"
starting all this?

It will be important that on this issue we're on the same page.

This is Democrat Sue. One more thing on the Republican/lies/health care issue. My post about Republicans telling lies in the health care debate has my name on it. Post 6:50 was not mine, and to be truthful, I couldn't exactly tell which side of the aisle that person was on. But if they are saying that the Republicans were lying about the health bill having death squads, etc., that is absolutely true. They WERE saying that, and it WAS a lie. (Someone asked me previously for an example of the lies the Republicans were telling, so there is an example of just one of the lies.)

Having said that, I absolutely agree with you, Term, that we all need to be on the same side of the aisle with the anti-immigration issue. That has been my main point on that issue.

I want to say again, that I think the message has to be more specific now if we ever hope to win. We must change it from a generic message to a message that is specifically, directly and plainly aimed -- by exact words -- to both Republicans and Democrats. We must get them in the position that they understand that they do not have to fight each other on this issue, and that for the good of the country they need to do it together. We must do this so they will know that if they both do it, then neither one of them will lose politically. If we want any hope of succeeding, the message will have to be strong and long, and it had better start now.

The Republicans will run Carabu Barbie for President and lose all 50 states. Mark my word.

Glad you think that's funny, TERM. I don't. You guys ran Obama and look where we're at! The only group that benefits now is the entitlement society. You know. The ones that don't work and don't pay taxes to begin with. The ones that expect everything to be given to them. You and I, the middle class, will be paying for them, as well as our children and grandchildren will be paying. Way to go democrats!

Well, if maybe your party had done alittle better job, and maybe picked younger and more qualified people all that you complain about might not have happened?
Politic's are for people not good enough looking to be in show business. I laughed over the slang name. The same way I laughed when it was reported Bill Clinton was going to see the "Nutcraker" and after dinner with Hillary he was going to take in a Broadway show.
Learn to lighten up, orall this will drive you insane.

8:04: Carabu Barbie?! That's hilarious. Read it last night and am still laughing today.

9:47: Get the facts. Did you not notice that the entire health insurance deal in the U.S. was a horrible mess and in dire need of fixing? This will help almost the entire problem of health insurance in America, for middle class and poor alike, although the below-poverty people were already helped. And it will bring down the deficit, while the present system of health care is driving up the deficit, as well as ruining middle class and lower class Americans. Really, get the facts. It's okay, really. We'll not only be okay, we'll be a lot better off for this.

Know what's happening? Obama is actually fixing things for the American people. That's all.

9:47: In case you didn't notice, almost every American and American family was in dire straits thanks to the Republicans, and our entire country almost collapsed. Obama is just fixing things. Change can be scary, but it's all good. Really.

This country is too important to just "lighten up" and let your party bring us down. Own up to the fact that it is your party's doing that we are in the situation we are in right now. Your light hearted defense of your corrupt party makes me ill.

9:47 Maybe I just see it a little different. Mybe if our President was listening to reports from the NSA about Bin Laden to attack inside the U.S.A. and hired someone to clear brush on is ranch, maybe 9/11 might have been prevented. As a after thought he attacks the wrong country that had NOTHING to do with the attack and bogs down American wealth and the deaths of how many American soldiers to get rid of a dictator? Read your Constitution "stay out of other peoples business". Their have been many good Republicans over time but please don't tell me they never screwup? Now the American people can see what happens with less regulations.

"less regulations". Are you kidding? This government is controlling every aspect of our lives. And I will not benefit from this health care. I am middle class and I will be paying for all you entitlement losers. The middle class pays with everything they worked so hard for. Get your facts straight.

I'm with you, Term. I don't get the people who are screaming about Obama and longing for the Republicans. Republicans never do anything for the American people. It's all for the companies, including giving tax breaks (or was it incentives) for taking their manufacturing companies to other countries. They took away all the regulations on companies, including health insurance companies, and let them have a field day ruining Americans lives and finances. Our entire country almost collapsed.

Then when a Democrat gets in office, and is actually fixing things for the American people, everyone is yelling they want the Republicans back. You can see right now what the Republicans do. They don't do anything to help the citizens when they are in office, and when the Democrats try, they lie about and block every good thing they try to do. It's a good thing that President Obama is as strong as he is, or he would have had every good thing he has done for us stopped by the Republicans in office and their followers.

And you know what? The person who is flipping your burgers and doing all the other low-paying jobs in this country for you, deserve to have health insurance they can afford. If that means that they will receive assistance for it on a sliding scale, then that is the way it has to be. It should not be a privilege to get health care in America. That is just shameful. We pay for a lot of it, anyway, when the uninsured show up at hospitals where care is much more expensive, and it is subsidized by the American government. We have to figure this out, and they are on a good path to start.

Obama is saving us, he really is, and it will be okay.

"Now the American people can see what happens with less regulations."

You're kidding, right.

Then what is the purpose of the Czars? In 2700 pages of the health care bill there isn't one new regulation. How about the the stimulus package? No new banking regulations? No regulations on bonus' but when they found out that they made a mistake, they wanted to use the IRS to punish them with a 90% tax. Orange X's on sidewalks or visits from housing inspectors come to mind. The war is over???? Last time I looked, the troop levels in Afghanistan were increased 400%. How many countries have good things to say about the US now. Oh, Castro and Chavez seem to like Obama. Who else? Foreign relations are a joke now. How many increases to domestic cell phone and email surveillance does Home Land Security want now? Yet, China still broke into our computer systems and stole secrets.

AT&T already is saying they are taking a Billion dollar charge in the first quarter and will have to reduce benefits for current employees and retirees. Will this be the last? These are some of the workers expected to support this new plan. What is going to happen to other company's plans once they have to follow all the new regulations? In this economy, companies will be forced to increase the bottom line and will have to take the cheapest way out. No longer will a good health plan be a perk for any job. Why offer a better package if you are only going to penalize it with a tax anyway. Companies will just pick the lowest denominator when it comes to offering health care.

Now, not all regulations are bad. There have been positive one too, like the ones on credit cards and interest limits. While the average worker around here may not see an income tax increase, he will see an increase to his medicare deduction from his pay check. And since companies like AT&T and Caterpillar will no longer be able to deduct some payments to health care costs, it will have less money to pay for employees health plans.

Between increased health plan costs and the new regulations with the health care bill, I think there will be a lot of people in for a big surprise when their company updates their insurance. Bigger companies will be very careful when it comes to new contracts. Again, they will weigh the numbers and choose the cheapest alternative. The phrase "but they have good benefits" will no longer apply.

Hope I'm wrong, but I think this is what we have to look forward to.

I have to chuckle at people who complain about government giving everything to big business, all of you need to step back and ask yourself how many people will be without a job when "big business" decides they have had enough of taxes, etc. and move elsewhere.

USA is not the only place in the world where a company can make money, those of you that think like this only uphold what other nations think of us.

11:11 You just framed the election coming up in November. Every Representative that voted for the Health Care Bill should ask there opponent who ever they are. "Should health care be a privilege to citizens of the United States of America?"
I watch a rally against the health care bill in Columbus the other day. A man sat there not saying a word with a sign that said he needed health care because he had Parkinson Disease and couldn't get insurance. Some in the crowd berated him and threw dollar bills at him telling him theres no free ride here. I was ashamed to be an American as I watch this outburst, and only hoped God was watching another channel.
That gentleman and myself both sat there in silence nothing need to be added or said.

Badger, Did you ever think that haqving your health care tied in with your employer was a bad idea?

We will always have to pay for the poor. We have been paying for those who choose not to have insurance but can afford it. If this plan prevents some of that, great. The ILLEGAL immigrant is not suppose to eligible. WHAT???? They get free care now and no hospital can turn them away nor can they even ask them for a verifiable ID. So this problem isn't solved by this bill. Don't file a tax return, no way to collect or pay anyone for coverage in the form of a tax rebate. What about the worker that works at a small company of less than 50 that isn't required to offer insurance. Not much chance of getting coverage now anyway. Now comes the average everyday worker. What changes are the larger companies going to make or have to make to follow this bill?

I agree with not excluding pre-existing conditions but can cause a few problems. If anyone can automatically get coverage then why not wait to get car insurance until after you have a bad accident? Sound simplistic but isn't that what the people who could afford insurance but don't have it now are doing? Lot's of questions and looking for some answers too.

Everyone should have access to coverage but I believe too many think all of a sudden it is going to be free. Free to the poor and ILLEGAL, but the rest of us will pay in lower raises if any, less jobs or reduced benefits offered by the employer. That is if they choose to keep offering insurance at all.

This new health bill is forcing compliance with tax penalties for not providing coverage. Seems tax incentives for companies for the same thing is a bad thing here. The fact that the tax breaks the companies are losing for payments to some health care costs will reduce benefits will come as a surprise to many.

The health care bill may not be as bad as the Republicans are saying but it surely isn't the cure all the Democrats are claiming either. Welfare was intended to extend help to the needy and not create a new economic class so dependent on the system that it has become a way of life for whole generations of families. Let's hope this doesn't happen with health care. We need more people independent of the government and not dependent on the government.

I think that some of the big companies were getting double credits or something like that. They are mad it is going away, but it's really only fair. I read all about it, but have forgotten all the details.

I'm a Democrat, but I also do not like the better plans being taxed, if that provision made it through. I also will not like it if the more affluent Americans will have to pay more for their Medicare. I could see maybe a LITTLE more, but other than that, I would not be happy about it. I will certainly not be happy if they cannot get the drug benefit. Hopefully those things will not make it through.

I agree that if everyone is not made to have health insurance, then it will bring down the whole system. It's just like car insurance -- if you do not have it, you hurt everyone who does. Now the Republicans are trying to stop that provision. I am sure they are doing this so the health care plan will fail. How sad. We can't demand that the insurance companies cover everyone and treat everyone fairly if we are not going to make sure that they can stay in business. In order to do that, every American needs to be covered.

Nothing has to change for companies offering their employees health insurance. They can all keep the same policies they have now.

Remember, President Obama is not saying that this is fixing EVERY health care problem, and admits there are things to work out, but it's a very good beginning, I think.

As far as the illegals go. Yes, we will all continue to pay and pay and pay for them. What I am hoping is that if we start aiming our campaign specifically against the Democrats AND Republicans, then they can all blame it on the American people, and get off the hook politically AND save our country. The health care problem now, with them the only ones that do not have to be covered, hopefully will be a good selling point that they can use as to why they have to go.

As far as people possibly being dependent on the health care and having it be sort of a welfare health care state -- what is happening now is that a lot of people who want to get better jobs, or get off of disability, or get off of welfare, are being held back because they will not be able to get health care if they do. This will free a lot of people to move on and move up without worrying about them or their families dying because of lack of health care. A lot of people are also tied to their jobs, in general, that would like to change jobs, or start their own company, but cannot because they are held back because of health care. People will know now, that if they get that other better job, they may pay more on the sliding scale for their health insurance, but they will be better off in general, and they and their families will always be safe as it pertains to health coverage.
