"I FEEL THE EARTH MOVE UNDER MY FEET"

MADPOTTERS Special "Earth Day" post

Ran past the square on my way home from a rugby game yesterday afternoon and must say it was good to see a bit of activity. It was good to see a few kids playimg frisbee, planting a few seeds in a cup and general awareness. Good effort on the part of the city.
I didn't attend as I found big beefy young people running around and tackling each other on a field im Kent a bit more exciting. The email I received from Doug Nagy prior to the Earth Day event sounded pretty tame; my thoughts after reading...Where's the beef... the grass fed beef? With a town of less than 20,000 population we are in the best possible position to make a difference in sustainability.
I dream of living in a community with community gardens, garden clubs, community composting, a program where I could buy my mulch from my city; not Euclid or Beachwood.
A resource dept. at city hall to help get homeowners off the grid and sell power back to the utility company to give some relief to our beleaguered coal power plant. Can you imagine if evey house in Painesville had an alternate energy source on the roof? We could make a difference.
Schools with active gardens for school lunches or students could sell produce at the farmers market to earn money for prom, sports events and other things that not covered by school funds. Teach kids food comes out of the ground and not out of a box. Get parents involved doing things productive with their children.
Would like to see council people target places in each ward to work on a specific hot spot that needs "greening".
Seems we could team with Lake Erie College on some of these projects and maybe we are.
Andy Flock's Town Hall Meeting at the New Huntington School on Elm St. will have a guest from "Ohio Citizens Action" bringing the Spokesperson to inform citizens about the New Coal Power Plant Painesvilles involved in building in Meigs County Ohio and its effect on the environment. Thursday 7:00P.M. April 30, 2009 please plan to attend.
I do applaud Councilnan Flock for trying to make a difference.
Would like to see the city pave the roads so my car lasts longer....Painesville, the omly place I know where road rage is targeted at the roads and not other drivers.
Plant flowerinf ornamental trees on tree lawns insead of locusts and maples, mot good for the sewer systems.
Whats everyone slse doing for Earth Day?
Wishing you all hot compost and abundant gardens from her brush pile in Paine Falls.....

Those are wonderful thoughts, now tell us who is going to pay for all of it, because I am not willing to pay more taxes so everyone can have a solar panel on thier roof.

Hey There,
nope, not living in Painesville as the city has just about abandoned our street..........

In Paine Falls we have a superior lifestyle...... the ice cream truck comes by regularly.

as for who will pay for this stuff...... 90% of this stuff is cheaper than you might think. Also believe tax incentives are here and/or coming for you home owners beefing up your homestead with energy saving "stuff".

come on you guys lighten up and have a sense of humor!

Yes, Some people call it home, and people like Term. and his crabcakes call it hell, to bad you can't see all of the good Painesville has.

There's the town and then there's the people who's self-serving is more important than Painesville. I have never heard Term or anyone put down Painesville just the circus act thats in control uf it. Some of you are in for a wake up call.

nope never used a Pamper and carry canvas bags with me.
Even took over 300 plastic bags and crocheted myself a tote I carry to the store. Cost me nothing.
We use over 300 billion...... yes with a "B" each and every year, we only recycle 1% of them.

Radishes, Swiss Chard, Lettuce and Peas are up in the garden. For a $60 investment in a garden you will get a $300 return.

Don't be a hater, it's Earth Day!

Not worried about you worried about my grandkids.....

Who is in charge of putting the Painesville's council meetings on channel 12. Whom ever it is, should be fired!

Channel 12 is run by the same misfits that run your city, did you ever get the idea they don't want you to watch? I have watched counil meeting from other cities and Painesville is the poorest.
Thank the Queen and her jesters!

City Council just gave the person who does the channel 12 posting of the council meetings an award. Must have been an award for good editing and not getting the information out.

Sandy,
It is Maple Elementary, not Maple Street Elementary,
and did you see todays Newspaper page D1 Notice for Painesville bids, for East Main St, Improvements,
and if the Ice Cream Truck comes to your Street It is breaking the law.

Get with the program Sandy, Elm St. Elementary, Chestnut St. Elementary, but no Maple St. in Painesville but someone on the school board wanted to stay with trees so a school on Jackson St. and West Eagle is named Maple School. Logic?

I'm wondering why the present City Manager needs an assistant?

Rita, you need to stop treating the citizens of painesville in such a disrespectful manner. You seem annoyed when asked a question. You don't feel you should have to explain yourself to any of us. I am tired of it. You work for me. So show some respect.

I can't speak for her but If I were her I'd be annoyed with your density and the repetitive questions and inability to get it the first time. Couple that only with constant accusations of wrongdoing and accusations of intent to hurt the city of Paiensville.
I'd be annoyed too, but as a matter of speaking, big words are just words. Just because you can't understand them does not mean she is trying to be disrespectful.
