"SOMEONE LIKE YOU, MAKES IT HARD TO"

Great! Just got my issue of "Speaking of Painesville" today. April-June
This newsletter and some of the other city publications should be called "Painesville Pravda".
On the front page bottom right hand corner; "Manufacturing Jobs Available"

Long story short, Ms. Bieterman Painesvilles Economic Development Coordinator, explained the website contained positions available in Painesville. There are currently over 170 manufacturing jobs available in the city posted by the employers themselves.

www.ohiomeansjobs.com

I called about ten of the largest employers in Painesville the ones that didn't laugh when I asked if they had positions open, said they hadn't added employee's for almost a year and some were even down to 24, 32, hours per week.
What I'm really concerned about is the city administration so far from reality they believe this? I know I will be hearing from the apoligists soon , but I even checked the website after Ms. Bieterman mentioned it at a council meeting . The website informed me of ALL jobs within 25 miles of Painesville. Ms. Bieterman nurses are not considered manufacturing jobs. People need real jobs not your made up jobs.

Avery Dennison..Extrudex..Cintas..
Eckart are several of companies that are listed on the website as having positions available, so are you are telling us that you contacted them and their actually not hiring?

However, I agree with your assessment of the Painesville Speaking newsletter..a better name would be "In a Perfect World, But Not Here in Painesville" newsletter.

Thanks for keep me informed on this amusing newsletter...

Called everyone but Cintas. Eckart told me they were going to less than 40 hours per week with their employees.
170 jobs should jump out at you.

There are no 170 jobs, she either didnt check or put this in the newsletter so twenty years from now someone will say Painesville was providing jobs when no one else was. This is a cruel lie, to someone looking for work.
This article caused me alot of problems this weekend my wife took it as gospel.

You called 10? Well his number might be significant in your allegation that someone is lying to you if we knew the total number. What if it was a small employer who is growing? Sounds like you called only the people we all already knew were having job cuts.
Sorry, but with your history, I don't trust you. And don't get into how I should not trust the pride or this publication, because I don't trust them either. This is solely about your site.

My history? O.K. you don't trust me. Well I trust you to find those 170 jobs. Its just about the jobs that was stated are in Painesville. If you can find them let us all know.

has anyone called Cathy Bieterman and asked how she came up with that number?

She is friendly and will talk to you and won't bite.

call the source........

At April 14, 2009 at 5:33 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I don't assume there are 170 jobs. I just don't assume someone was TRYING to lie to me. He might be mistaken, but you might be too and the jobs might be there. You have your bias against any positive thing that is ever said about the city. I just think it is important to look at things objectively. I don't believe you do that. Because you don't look at things objectively and instead you look at any issue with a bias against the city, then your underlying feelings should be taken into account by anyone who reads this blog. This is why I post. Not to attack you but to help the reader put things in perspective and see you for what you are.

At April 14, 2009 at 7:02 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

You're right, go right to the source and call Cathy. She is a good employee and will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have about economic development within the city.

However, that being said, nothing comes from the upstairs of City Hall without the C.M. having first reviewed and provided her blessings to it.

Sad, but I thought the same thing when I read the newsletter. Are these people so out of touch they believe this? What good purpose would come out of that article. Unemployment is at almost 10% and it seems our leaders don't have a clue. I drive around the area alot and its starting to look scary.

Back to the subject, does anyone have a clue where these jobs are?
I know alot of people looking for work.

At April 14, 2009 at 1:23 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

If these jobs were posted on the site by employers and then never taken down when the jobs were no longer available why are we not attacking the employers instead of the city?

Seems to me you are complaining about the wrong people.

At April 14, 2009 at 3:27 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Your assuming the jobs were posted in the first place. This was just a fluff piece of news that got out of Cathys control. She hardly ever leaves her office.

I know this because I heard it from a friend of a friend who knows somebody who is friends with someone who works for somebody very highly positioned at the City, who says so. But I can't tell you who, so just take my word for it.

Term, you spent so much time on the phone calling maybe ten places. But did you take two minutes to call the source? Are you afraid of getting put in your place? If anything smells fishy here it is you.

At April 15, 2009 at 2:55 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Wonder how many commenters actually explored that site?

Mentor has 423 jobs listed, Willoughby has 326 listed

I think maybe that site just isn't well kept up by employers who have posted.

At April 15, 2009 at 4:40 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

The question remains when the people at city hall were putting the newsletter together, didnt anyone think to say this doesnt sound right, maybe we should check it out before we print it? Or as some here have stated the city has no idea what the outside economy is like. Most of us, if we are honest question the 170 jobs. What do they say dont believe anything you read on the web.

At April 15, 2009 at 6:42 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Anonymous, I am not scared. I am offended that you think you are so superior to me, that I don't have the ability to think for myself. I am perfectly able to discern BS from facts. And I can tell when a person is posing a question in concern and posting what they think is a fact.

At April 15, 2009 at 8:59 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Alligations? Term didnt say there was all these jobs the city did?

At April 16, 2009 at 6:00 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well the word is allEgations. But he was alleging that someone was lying:
"People need real jobs not your made up jobs."
Anyone can me assertions but Term was alleging that they were lying. I am not wrong in characterizing his post as such.

"Mentor has 423 jobs listed, Willoughby has 326 listed"

Sounds like Painesville is the only realistic city here. Maybe we should be commending them.

"I am not scared."
Oh yeah? Have you called the source yet?

At April 16, 2009 at 7:01 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Why call anyone there are no 170 jobs, I would rather Term ask council to ask where she got the figures instead of it being buried in this site.

Actually, if the posters on this site decide it is appropriate to start an attack on Ms. Bieterman for something this rediculous then I must say they have hit an all time low!

If there is anyone in this city Admin that deserves praise instead of attacks is Ms. Bieterman. She is actually one of the people we can point to that has consistently delivered the good s for this city.

If he wants to avoid the embarassment of asking then he can. But being totally unconcerned with the truth and allowing the allegations to continue for as long as possible before dispelling them is the mantra of this site. So sure, prepetuate the rumor, but once again I can't give you guys any credit for doing ANYTHING productive.

Well term. if you talk to that Bieterman, she can take Avery [Fasson} off the 170 majic job list, over 20 of us got our pink slips today. That article would be funny, if all this wasn't going on. Economic Development right

Ridiculous? You may be fortunate and still have a job where you haven't been layed off or had your hours cut. Do I think she lied? No, I just think she is a very uninformed city offical, with no clue of the real world and the next time I see her I will tell her myself.

No absolute response to any of these posts because all I see are people that just sit-back, have absolutely no clue - they do not read the paper - they do not go to meetings - they never get-off there butts and become concerned citizens - they refuse to face all of the truths - because they are not educated in anything but their own personal space. They do not have the mind-set to realize that what this city is screwing with will also screw with their future lives. Hope all of you like the tremendous increases in your water/sewer rates every quarter: as nothing has been or will accomplished for your water and sewer systems. DUH!!

Sit in your fish-bowl, make your statements that absolutely make no sense at all as the majority of you have absolutely no clue as to how you and yours are being sent one Big Fish-Line.
Send a post that goes on and on and makes no sense - as to your supposed knowledge how to contribute new positive ideas towards the betterment of the cioty of Paine.
So far, all posting folks just rag on this sight. There is absolutely no one that has offered any justified alternatives. Candidates want big changes. Okay all supposed 8 Candidates - start writing and showing all of us how you will/or propose to change the direction of Painesville and most important how you will change and provide a better City Coucil Leadership and Control.
this is on your shoulders - prove it and justify your intentions!!!

Ok tough guy, you do that, My sympathies go out to cuty officials who deal with you people. It amazes me people are still willing to work in public service to serve people like you.

"they are not educated in anything but their own personal space."

Please tell me your educational qualifications. Yes I realize I am opening this up for a big lie about how you went to harvard, but I get the impression your education doesn't expand past the 12th grade 30 years ago. Which is equivalent to maybe the 8th grade today. Some posters here have no clue. Some do. Some only THINK they do. I think you fall in the 3rd category because your bias twists your perception of reality.

"There is absolutely no one that has offered any justified alternatives"
This has been my gripe with the site from the beginning. How the site is only complainers and not anyone really trying to achieve a positive result for the city.

"supposed 8 Candidates"
Ok so I can admit this - On this topic, I have no clue. Who are the 8 because I only know of a few.

Whomever they are though I would advise them of being hesitant to write anything on this site. If you are not the chosen ones of the posters and the guy who runs the site you won't get a fair shake. Better to keep your campaign in the real world. But if you disagree please post here. I'll be objective not knowing if you are chosen one or not and evaluate your agenda as you write it with no bias.
This is what is missing from this site. Intelligent conversation.

Re: Anonymous, 4/18/09, 6:24PM - I can't let this post pass without a few comments.

The poster accuses people of being "not educated in anything but their own personal space" - I'd like to know what this poster's level of education is, because this post appears to have been written at about the sixth grade
level. Talk about posts that "go on and on and make no sense" - this post is a prime example of that.

Poster, do you know the difference between "their" (possessive, as in "their butts") and "there"? Apparently not.

And once again this is not a "sight". It's a "site". It's a "blog". It's not a "sight". Don't question the education of others when you can't even put together a coherent sentence using proper English.

And please, what on earth is THIS supposed to mean: "Sit in your fish-bowl, make your statements that absolutely make no sense at all as the majority of you have absolutely no clue as to how you and yours are being sent one Big Fish-Line." Sorry, you are the one who makes absolutely no sense, and has absolutely no clue. "Fish-Line"? Can you even BEGIN to explain what you mean by that? Were you even sober when you posted this?

Poster, your attempts at being clever and cute are falling way short of the mark. You might have something worthwhile to contribute but until you can express your ideas in plain and proper English nobody is going to know what you're talking about.

How about it? How educated are YOU? What do you do for a living? Do YOU have any ideas for bettering the City of Painesville? (not the "City of Paine", give that up, it's not cute) Do YOU have any alternatives? If so, let's hear them.

At April 20, 2009 at 1:04 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

What kind of education? You don't need much of an education when you can look around you and notice things just don't seem right. Everyone gets the same fair shake? Hell, the guy running the site gets blasted the most. He seems to end his posts with a question mark.
I laughed when people said it was stupid to try to save the hospital, but no one mentioned the city manager tryed saving it by spending over $350,000 of taxpayers money to sdave it. All I see is someone asking his fellow Painesville residence a question and getting abuse for asking. In closing the city has always been able to control the media, the internet has changed that. You think the sound was bad at the last council meeting by accident?
