" FIX YOU " coldplay
When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
One last Post about this Marijuana business before we move on to more pressing issue like Disco Night in Painesville and back to Chocolate and Wine issues.
re ver sion
noun
a return of a previous state, practice, or belief
the right, especially of the original owner, to process or succeed to property and the end of a lease.
So why is this important?
In a conversation over the weekend with a council person I explained why I was against this rezoning of this property on North State St.
Here is what I was told;
I don't believe in recreational marijuana. If this is done properly, there will be a reversion clause if the business changes names (regulatory) changes business use (i.e. medical to recreational), or any other change. If it should switch to sales or recreational, the property should revert back to the City. It should be medical only as that is all Council authorized.
Now my hearing is very poor but at no time in these last two meetings did I hear this ever mentioned? Wonder if even Growth Orchard is aware?
So will Planning and/or Council stipulate this in the agreement or is someone blowing smoke up my A##?
Myself Growth Orchard is only are asking for M-1 ? So if they move, ANY manufacturing business could locate on that property. Maybe a noisy machine shop? The City hurried this through like they do most things without looking ahead. Happens a lot around here.
And in finishing;
The Lake County Gazette
A story in last Fridays paper about the Council approving the sale of City property to Growth Orchard.
After reading the account one thing stuck out. In the whole article... 'Marijuana or Medical.... those two words were never mentioned? So maybe to the average Painesville resident could get the impression Growth Orchard might want to cultivate and process tomatoes? Hiding the truth!

As far as the article not mentioning MJ, that is par for the course with this city. I wonder if they asked the paper not to mention it. Same as our resident notification papers...not a mention of MJ. Also, I don't trust the city at all on this, of course, due to decades of deceit and disregard for the citizens and homeowners, and that leaves me with the feeling that they'll pass this saying that there can be no changes, but as soon as they want changes, they'll change the rules. As usual, they will tell us whatever we want to hear to get what they want. And what about your point that this land could later be used for other things? This city sucks so bad it can leave you with a lack of words.
"If this is done properly"?? This came from a Councilman??
Strap in, it's gong to get bumpy if that is their logic.
Oh how I wish someone would shine a light on what marijuana is doing to our children. Difficulty learning to read, poor working memory, executive functioning deficiencies, just to name a few. Second hand marijuana smoke is causing major problems in our youth and clogging up intervention and special education services.
6:57 I guess the paper might have taken it off a press release without the city mentioning the reason?
8:25 That's the logic of course in 5 years who will remember the how and why?
2:03 Most of us have learned firsthand.
I can't believe some of you folks, seriously? Do you really think the media? liberal media? would not mention that because the city asked them not to? As for marijuana use - of course it's bad for you. Is it a gateway drug? Who knows BUT this is Medical Marijuana not recreational. It's used, never mind you should know the definition if you don't DO look it up. DO see how it's used by terminal patients, how it's regulated, grown, prescribed. Inform yourselves first.
11:47 Liberal media? Lake County Tribune? Look they probably got a city press release? And you in your wisdom can guarantee this facility will never be used for 'recreational' production? Maybe you should offer this in your neighborhood?
A final thought on this since it is illegal by federal law and banks cant be used, also security can not bear any firearms. There's a certain element that will find that interesting.
11:47
Stated like a true stoner.
"Is it a gateway drug? Who knows"
That seems like pretty sound logic. You don't know if it is a gateway drug BUT the use of it should be permitted.
Of course, you will never get a doctor to issue a bogus prescription for MJ use, right?
"It's used, never mind you should know the definition if you don't DO look it up."
Another brilliant statement that backed up nothing at all.
As far as any newspaper not writing about a subject because a city asked them not to do so. I would highly doubt the City of Painesville did any such thing. However, they don't release ANY info or news and with the same effect. After all, it took 8 days for the info about the sale of the property to get published. Why? Because the NH did not have a reporter present at the Council meeting where the sale was authorized. They found out about it a number of days
11:47: Don't be stupid. Most of us are talking about our property values, and it doesn't matter if it's for medical or recreational. I personally think it should all be legalized, even though I think it's dumb to smoke it. But, again, it's property values. They are allowing this in a residential area, and our property values are going to be ruined. You're the one who needs to get a grip here and get informed.
Who told you that security cannot carry firearms? That is up to the company who controls the growth, and they can use dogs or any other means to secure the business. Also Painesville is not the only place in Ohio to be looking at growing MJ. Akron, Toledo, and many more. This is a money maker both employees taxes also the money made by the grower. I live in the city come up south end there might be some place open to grow this. But the city might no own thr property, and not be able to make money on its use. The use of medical marijuana has been approved and also the growing. We the voters approved that..... and the state is not stopping it.
9:05 Take some time and check out the ATF website. You will find your answers.
Dogs? gee what could go wrong like a small child from the residential area?
Let alone the facility can't have firearms either are you by federal law if you have a medical marijuana card you CANNOT process a firearm under penalty of law 5 to10 years in prison. They never mentioned that either.
4:51 as if the city administration gives a damn about residents in the northend?
Along with the banks being regulated by the feds, This business violates federal law if they use the United States Postal Service.
The state voters voted against marijuana only the legislators voted yes not the voters.
3:17 Look at the notice the City sent to nearby residents (I posted it ) Nowhere does it mention Medical or Marijuana. Why? They don't want you to know. Hooray for our new City Manager more transparency? In your dreams people. Sad thing it will work.
Where has the City Manager been the past couple of weeks?
9:05
"We the voters approved that....."
Really?? When did that occur? The FACT is that the voters turned down medical and recreational use by a margin of 2-1 state wide.
This was then ignored by the legislators in Columbus when "medical" use was made possible.
It is ALL money driven, nothing more Politicians see an easy revenue stream.
You really need to do a little more research before you start stating falsehoods.
Thank you 9:05 (11:47 again) Its refreshing to read from those that do their homework before they pipe up about things they know nothing about. AND FYI I am not a stoner, never was, never touched the stuff and wouldn't know what it looks or smells like either. I do NOT agree with how the state of Ohio got this passed nor do I agree with how the city is handling any of this. This leap before they look attitude is very very damaging. I suggest to Mr Term, since he feels council is doing wrong, he contact an attorney and take his concerns to the next level. This should settle it.
10:42 TERM ain't contacting anybody anybody. The voter's of Painesville elected this council who appointed this CM who has her administration. If the voter's don't feel emboldened to do anything Well...
Maybe just a letter to our Justice Department? Kinda get us on the radar?
Apparently it isn't all as bad as you make it to be then. If the voters arent emboldened... you must not be a voter either?
9:16
So that is all you got from what Term wrote?
You really don't get it, do you?
What I took from the post was lots of griping, whining and venting with NO solution to be read. Whats your solution?
1:03 Could be the people you are trying to reach are just plain deaf?
9:16 It's worse than bad.
What I can say, with 100% certainty, is that Term has made his feelings very clear both on his blog and in front of Council.
It looks like they are so blinded by the beads dangled in front of them that they circumvent their own rules in order to allow a business that is not allowed by Federal law.
If your only intent is to flame Term, you need to be better educated and have a better platform to stand on concerning this issue.
Like you were told, you really don't understand.
11:29 I attend these meeting and hear about rules regulations as well as ordinances. Yet the City somehow circumvents these if THEY have a financial reason. My problem is twofold first it is violation of federal law and secondly it is simply 'Spot' zoning. By the City's own admission that property was purchased for environmental and conservation interests. Not to be developed.
