"THE TRACKS OF MY TEARS" smokey robinson and the miracles
Not much to what's presently going on around town.
A couple of days ago I watched a Norfolk Southern inspection train come through Painesville. I mentioned it to a couple of railfans and they claimeded that NS was in the planning stage of building a new trestle over the Grand River between Bank St. and Riverside Dr. South of the present trestle Anybody heard anything official?
This would be a major project as well as watch how fast a railroad completes a project compared to the government.

The biggest difference in speed is because a railroad has the responsibility of making money and/or spending as little as they can while getting the job done. This is exactly the opposite of work in the public sector where there is NO profit motive and the idea is to stretch a job out as long as you can.
Have you ever been behind a City, County, or State vehicle on their way to a work site? You will fall asleep before they get there.
Private business doesn't work like that.
I would invite you to see how long it takes to get a new trestle built (assuming that is what happens) as opposed to the inner belt bridge in Cleveland or, closer to home, the wonderful Vrooman Rd bridge.
What a joke!
Totally outside of Painesville, I see that more tax payer dollars are being wasted by paying off the contractor for the Vrooman Rd bridge fiasco. I do NOT blame the contractor, I place the blame squarely on the shoulders of the Commissioners who were in place at that time and the County Engineers office for dropping the ball completely.
The project was never needed but pushed through under the guise of "safety". Land was cleared for 3 months and work stopped.
Turns out that it was because the proper permits had not been obtained.
I have to wonder if the person or person who didn't do their job is still on the County payroll?? If so, I have to wonder why? I know if I screwed up my job like that, I would have been shown the door very quickly.
Instead, like Term always says, "ATM" (ain't my money). It never seems to bother politicians when they can settle a debt and it costs them nothing.
I hope people remember that Dan Troy was part of this joke when he is up for election.
YEP - Truth, But why ask here? Why not do as you suggest? I do not understand your open pondering with open ended questions? Go directly to the source and get the facts not everyone's opinions.
I live two houses away. They set up what looks to be a construction trailer in Coes parking area. A lot of activity going on.
Something's going to happen as there are surveyor stakes around the trestle property. Maybe they can contract with the Riverside kids for paint services. THIS should be a very interesting project in many ways.
