'THE JOKER" steve miller band

People keep talking about me baby
Say I'm doing you wrong

Well attended the SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING held Monday evening.

One resident spoke for the passage of this Resolution.

And two spoke against it including a member of our Board of Education and myself.

Only six council members were in attendance as Mrs. DiNallo was excused.

Final vote 6 for -0 against.

In my time in the public forum I reminded council member's that when they took their oath of office all seven swore to follow the ordinances of the city, laws of the State of Ohio as well as the United States Constitution and all federal laws.

Well in my eyes six of them failed their oaths and are therefore  hypocrites. See the last time I checked it was in violation  of federal law to cultivate, process and sell Marijuana. It is still a federal offense no matter what is said in Columbus.

I also went to the Lake County Board of Elections and received the results of the election on this issue.

In the City of Painesville

1,393 voted Yes for the issue

1,912 voted Against this issue

Begs to ask why bother to vote?

Councilman DeLeone made the argument that people needed Medical Marijuana fine! There will be 28 locations available in the State of Ohio. Why must one be Painesville? In my eyes his argument was poor. He asked if anyone thought we were winning the 'War on Drugs'? His answer must be to capitulate?

I brought up the 'spot' zoning as well as I was told no residential property will be closer than 300 feet (one football field) to their building.

I guess I learned a lot about people tonight. Lost a lot of respect for DeLeone and Fodor especially.

After the meeting someone asked me if I thought an envelope was passed around? I answered I hope so, just so what I watched tonight made some sense!

On the plus side another business no other community wanted found a home here in the Ville'

Soon Painesville will probably have a new Recreation Department. It's just a matter of time.

If no one got an envelope for this vote, they are a dumber bunch than I would have imagined.

You win the war on drugs by giving in and selling your soul?? Who knew?

People "need" medical MJ?? Really? No other drugs do the job and/or do it better?

As has been pointed out, this is not about MJ but about how money can be made from it.

Not that any of them care but not one of them will ever get my vote again.

These council people and administration are the same as all the past ones; they don't give a damn about the citizens. 300 feet? They are guaranteeing property owners nothing will be within 300 feet? Might as well put it right in our backyards...our property values are gone. But they don't care. I have no problem with it being grown and sold in Painesville, but that is a bad location for quite a few homeowners. They know it, and they don't care. As usual.

I see what the final vote was but did any of them seem to have any other thoughts?
Did anyone ask any questions of substance or were they all softballs?
Was the meeting a waste of time as the vote was in before it started?
From what you write, the Council sure didn't look out for the citizens did they? All to chase a tax dollar.
A completely embarrassing and dysfunctional group we have here.

6:55 They have no fear of your vote.
7:16 Now if this facility was down the hill behind Hach's property, or on Charlotte St.by Fodor or in Liberty Greens it might have been a different vote?
3:10 Only DeLeone gave a reason for his vote no of the others thought to give a reason for their vote. When they came out of executive session the deal was already done and they decided to stick together as one. Speaking of executive session who exactly was in that meeting?
Seems we are back in the day of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs?

You are to kind calling them hypocrites I suggest they are all frauds! Maybe not an envelope was involved but the promise of a little bag dropped off at the house? No matter how many times Deleone takes his glasses on and off at a meeting all I ever see is lining eyes.

any truth to the rumor the drive leading up to the sewer plant will be renamed Josh Gordon Drive?

I agree with the comment on your last post - "this could be a nice stimulus package for the city instead of another missed opportunity".

I live in Jenkins' ward but would have had no problem with it being in my neighborhood in the old COE facility.

People worried about the odor are cracking me up. You live next to the sewage treatment plant and you're worried about smells? The MJ plant won't be adding anything worse than you've already got going.

Hello,
I have been reading sections of your blog in regards to a specific person that is mentioned. That person is now in my city. Would it be possible to have your email or phone number so we could talk?
thank you

Again, the dwarfs call the shots not Snow WHite. It was very obvious that council wanted this - regardless how their voters feel. This is wrong and we will remember this next election.

12:03 Maybe, maybe not? From where I sat it looked like the administration was leading council around by the nose.
Katelyn send your email to this site. it will not be posted on the blog. and I will be the only one who sees it.
12:43 Thank you for the generous offer? Just maybe those living around the site might not feel the way you do? Stimulus package? More like county laughing stock.
10:09 Think he want's to be part of the laughing stock?
9:58 DeLeone gives attorneys a bad name.

I would have to say that there are likely to be people living near the COE plant who might not agree.
The big difference is that the COE property is already zoned correctly and it is not City property to "give" away.
That makes for a rather large difference in how this has been handled.

I really have not seen too many people complaining about any possible smells. That has not been the crux of the problem.

12:03
If you really believe that Council calls the shots, I want to sell you some property.
It has not been that way in a LONG time.
You really need to attend Council meetings to see it in action.
BTW, I doubt most people will remember any of this at the next election. Voters are like sheep and really are not too smart.
We keep electing the same folks expecting better results.
It doesn't work well.

12:43. Just FYI, nobody is worried about the possible odors from the growing. They were saying we already have enough problems with property values over here with being next to the sewer treatment plant, as the city has never cared about the home owners and the neighborhoods enough to care about the odors. And now we would have the MJ on top of that right IN our residential neighborhood. There was no concern expressed about odors from the MJ. Also, since the old COE plant is in a commercial zoning area, and not in my backyard, that would be fine with me, too.
