"YAKETY YAK" coasters

Take out the papers and the trash
Or you don't get no spendin' cash

Our future Refuse contract came up in today's Saturday March 26, 2016 News- Herald.
By Tawana Roberts

Here are a few excerpts

"At this time we don't have anything finalized, so no one has bid," Carson said. "This is a long, tedious process."

He explained that Painesville residents dispose of a greater volume of trash than neighboring communities, which causes the prices to be higher. Another factor that increases the rate is that Painesville residents have higher bill delinquencies.

As resident Ray Sternot questioned , where is the data? Where is the proof? Now the city manager now claims he has the proof. So please share it with council and the rest of us?

Interesting thought our city manager claims that many here in town are well, deadbeats? Then last year when I brought up the $48,000 a year for 2014 and another 2015 they seem to believe this is a "franchise fee" that went into the general fund. I wonder how many council people were even aware of this? Look call it what you want franchise fee, kickback, or payola.  The resident's of Painesville paid for it, period. It was simply a tax! Waste Management didn't do this out of the goodness of their hearts! Well we know about a fee to tow vehicles in the City of Painesville. So is anyone else? President of council Paul Hach Jr. father who owns  Hach Excavation does many projects in the city, does he pay a fee? I myself don't believe so, but without the transparency who is above suspicion? Another excellent reason for Ohio Checkbook. Who presently I believe the administration will have no need to join.

Why were all bid competitors in one room to discuss a bid construction? Better question why were there no council people or even a few residents in the room to see how the sausage was being made? Transparency AGAIN!

Look a $5.00 saving on a seven year contract would save a resident $140.00 over the life of the contract, so little money can become big money.

But it's only money?  Council sent 2.1 million dollars to AMP-OHIO so what's the big deal with $96,000?

Rapidly I am losing faith in the administration as well as council. I don't see anyone on council stepping up and saying "wait a minute." Also I am losing faith in the resident's that call Painesville home for their don't give a S#@t attitude.

I'm getting quite a charge how influential Republicans are I guess endorsing Ted Cruz or Donald Drumpf for President. Holding their nose with such conviction!

If the President's smart he will extend his foreign visits. No reason to get Michelle in the battle of dragging wives through the mud!

Perhaps you mean "you're"?
Getting it right might help in making your point.

What has Term accomplished?
He has you reading his blog, doesn't he?
Without this blog, most people would have NO idea what is happening under the Dome.

The city is having the refuse company gouge us so that they (the city) can get a kickback. Sounds like just one more fraud perpetrated by the city that needs to be investigated. We have a laundry list of those infractions now, don't we? So they have to tell us something, don't they?...i.e., we have too much trash and too many no pays.

Thank you for sticking up for me, but 2:12 might have brought up a good point. What has this blog. and my bitchin' really accomplished?

I believe I have only missed council meetings when I was in the hospital? And when I do make a remark they just stare in silence at me?

The Blog. How many years now? 7-8 well someone is looking in all time over 421,500 look ins. on average about 240 a day so someone's looking in? Not big numbers for a Blog. but remember it has very limited appeal. Although there's a person in Holland who looks in faithfully?

2:12 has given me an idea, I might start thinking outside of the box. Obviously this ain't working.

The Blog. will stay if for no other reason to hear your comments, but I need a different approach?

Why? I grew up here in a way I am watching a place I love die a very slow and painful death. Many of you have roots here and know what I'm talking about. Seems they keep pushing a lot of B.S. on us that I for one ain't buying. We just seem to be only prop's in what goes on around here.

What amazes me is with all the failure's and false starts around here this garbage contract seems to be what broke the camel's back with me.

Maybe time for a fresh start and something they can't ignore?

What has your blog accomplished? For me, it has provided a major amount of information that I otherwise wouldn't have found anywhere, especially in the News(less)-Herald, which only eagerly covers Painesville matters if it involves a homicide. My wife and I have made it a point to pass along pertinent information that I found here to various others in the community, including those who work at local businesses and at Morley Library, because we feel that an informed public is more apt to take an interest in what's going on, especially if they realize that their tax dollars are being wasted. We've told them about your blog and how to access it on the Internet, and I hope that other readers of yours are doing the same. I understand why you're frustrated, as there aren't enough people out here who care as much as you. If you can find a way to publicize your blog and bring it to the attention of more people in Painesville, perhaps that will add to the numbers of those who want things to change in this town. I hope you aren't thinking of giving up the blog; if you had to because of health or the like, that's very understandable. If you did it out of frustration....well, I've never met you, but I know people who know you, and from what they say, it wouldn't be your nature to give up the fight. As you well know, City Hall and Council would LOVE for you to go away, as would their sycophants who give you a hard time in this comment section. Even if you end up not leading change in Painesville, I hope you can find satisfaction in sticking around to continue annoying the powers that be. In any event, thanks for what you've done to keep us enlightened all these years!

5:36 Thank-you for your kind thoughts. I promise as long as I have an internet connection and can type (I call it typing) there will be a Blog. No it's not my nature to give up. But sometimes I am to willing to pay a price for a point.
Leading change? If we don't soon change nothing will be left. That's what 30 years of neglect gets you. Thank you again you have made my morning

There are a couple of other Painesville blogs that are just as informative on local issue without being so blatantly politically biased. I have passed those sites on to friends and they find them much more useful and less full of insinuations and bias.

9:54 The more the merrier! Wonder if they print all comments?
Feel free to share the sites here.

Want to bet 9:54 friend all think the way they do? And no they don't print all comment's. I love your attitude!!!

You're right about 9:54. I, too, believe that the other sites aren't "so blatantly politically biased" because the blog authors share the same political views as 9:54 and friends. They don't like Term calling b.s. on Republicans and the right wing when it's warranted; these are the type who watch only Fox News or listen to right-wing talk radio, because they are all comfortably inside the conservative bubble, where no serious dissenting opinions are allowed to penetrate. My advice to these people: if they don't like what Term writes, or the comments of those who support him, stop reading his blog! And, no, I don't always agree with Term's views, so I don't feel like I'm in a left-wing bubble here, because some of his views aren't exactly left-wing. I do, however, respect what he has to say, even when I disagree.

Other sites, no way. Where and how to get to them, for comparison.

Yes I'm a Democrat and proud of it! Yes I was a Teamster and proud of it! Yes I loved all the places that employed me and proud of it!(except Dairymen's) sorry!
Look if a Dem is irresponsible like Dan Troy I call them out. But many on the other side have very short memories. Think back 8 years? Time for more of the same? Look the battles in the national and local GOP makes me chuckle. Because there getting what they both asked for! Only hope they somehow don't destroy the country.
Patriots? No just very selfish people who whine like little children. With no room for compromise. At least I'm telling you.
Yet I always leave space here for them to comment.

People like you describe are dealing in what is called "conformational bias".
IOW, they only want to hear what they know will conform with what they "know" to be true.

At March 28, 2016 at 2:55 PM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

2:41 Isn't that illogical? How do you ever get anything accomplished? So if I understand you correctly if you only watch FOXNEWS and never CNN or MSNBC aren't you cheating yourself?
I watch FOXNEWS probably equally as much with the other two. You think people would want diverse views?

I guess FOXNEWS will be hard to watch for Trump supporters soon? Watch

I believe all of us should be suspicious of all news outlets. I believe some are pushing for another war? Hell it's good for their ratings.

I guess do they realize they can comment anytime they want? I love to be proved wrong. That said, how am I supposed to view the idea that there is a petition to open carry in the Q during the RNC National Convention signed by 45,000 people. All I can say is REALLY! Have you lost your minds?

2:41 here.
Your last line actually says it all. "News" has become "agenda". Very little real news anymore.

Your question is 100% accurate and you are correct in that nothing will get accomplished.
What I was trying to say is that many people listen to Rush Limbaugh because he says what they want to hear. They will never hear a dissenting view.
In the same vein, people listen to Keith Olberman (opposite end of the scale) because he says what they want to hear.
I think of it as entertainment but it sure as hell is not news.

BTW, they are cheating themselves because they have no idea what the other side might be.
I used to work for a guy who NEVER wanted to hear the "other" side. After all, he might actually learn something that was contrary to what he "knew" to be true.

3:08 So conviction is more important than compromise? My way or the highway. Sad.

Well at least we know how we got here.

Notice they didn't give any credit for supporting Republican Josh Mandel
Checkbook Ohio? So am I to believe if Josh was a Democrat the Republicans would oppose him? A good idea is a good idea!
If we all don't start listening, respecting, along with working together this country is doomed!

Also what have Rush or Keith ever contributed to this country?
