" YOU OUGHTA KNOW " alanis morissette

To recap Monday's council meeting , let be first explain what I observed. This you only can witness this by being in the room. Now council has started having Executive Session before council meeting last night meeting was to discuss personnel. Odd it seemed as we waited for the meeting to start who was also waiting in the court room. Our city manager,  now the only reason I can figure that they were having this executive meeting without the city manager present was the meeting was about him. Remember the meeting was called to discuss personnel. Sorry Mike you don't need to be a lawyer or a youngster figure this out. Now the question remains who on council did the city manager ruffle their  feathers , and over what? Any ideas?

Got the holiday situation under control.

The seeking of the city manager to seek bids and proposals for the sale of our two cemeteries was a no vote. Good but let's open the door to investigating  outsourcing the cemeteries and see if the city can save some general fund money. The only way you could save some money is that certain jobs (office and maintenance ) would have to be eliminated. Tough choice but if you could save $75,000 a year for road repair or another police officer it's worth looking into. I believe council saved our city manager from a lot of wasted time.

239 Mentor Ave. Don't even discuss or bring this subject up until after the Planning Commission Meeting on November 13, 2014. Something tells me 239 ain't going anywhere it may have found a guardian angel. One less address from the pen of "Demo Doug"!

The city manager will submit to the state an application for the repair of Walnut and Lexington Ave.
Please note the application for Walnut St. is just for between Liberty and west to the bike path.

Tabled the JEDD  petition.

Now some interesting things;

Our new Police Chief wants to increase the number of applicants for the civil service test to become Painesville Police Officer.. He showed a large color poster with in the corners I believe a present police officer and in the  other corner a female firefighter. In the center it showed a police officer with a helmet, face covered except for his eyes, aiming a M-16 with a flashlight attached at you viewing the poster. After the meeting I questioned the chief if he thought this was the image he wanted? He stated this poster was modeled after the Ohio State Highway Patrol and it is a poster meant to grab attention. He's right it got mine.

The Painesville Electric Department received a 8x8 plaque from AMP-OHIO for system improvement. I figure that little plaque cost residents and businesses in Painesville about 3 million dollars, and AMP seems or ignored and forgotten the two consecutive weekends last  winter  we suffered without  power?

Appointments were made to several boards and I believe Rita McMahon was named to a storm water commission? Don't hold me to that a lot of mumbling during that portion of the meeting.
Not a bad choice when people start complaining about flooded basements say in Heisley Park they can go right to the source of the problem.

You really have no clue? No clue as to whats going on? Yet, on other posts you said you knew Everything about it. And what does a fireman know about the city manager or city council? That comment makes no sense at all.

12:02 I do have a clue and a pretty good idea what this is all about. Ask a fireman? Well if your discussing personnel and it's obvious it's the CM lets go back to the Health Department fire? This ain't the Soviet Union and plenty of city employee's have issues with certain department heads. I won't spill the beans here as I was asked by the FF not to so. I won't. Don't kid yourself it's pretty easy to figure this one out.
Some vacations are scheduled and some are not.

I think you know to much.

I think you should take your own advice and go straight to the ones with the correct answer instead of throwing out a mystery question and having all sorts of speculation from people who don't know what they are talking about or make up something. Go directly to the source like you always tell your bloggers.

Any idea how the council selected the three storm water people? I couldn't find any invitation to apply like they did for the other boards.

6:40 You might be right
6:52 I have all the information I need, thank-you
8:07 ????? It's Painesville. That's the best answer I got.

Where I work we have a type of gag-order against speaking out and negatively against the company. Maybe the city should look into something like this to stop the vicious gossip and misinformation that goes on. Prosecute and or fire those that cant keep their big mouth shut?

3:29 How do you assume it's gossip and misinformation? In case you didn't realize it Painesville City is not a company.
Since the time the PPD wanted to wander off with my computer without a warrant. Most all conversations are person to person and even jail time wouldn't make me reveal who talks to me. Prosecute or fire those that want the truth to be told?

Or council members could level with the people on what the Hell is going on.
Are you worried about something?

I guess the first amendment doesn't exist in Painesville?

No, the first amendment does not exist in Painesville, ask around at city hall. Ask anyone fired recently.

Ask a fireman, that's your answer? NO, you don't ask one person be it fire, police, service dept. You go to both sides then present the facts not a one sided story. No one buys only one side, give us both please. All facts and truth not guess work and fables.

12:35 That wasn't my answer that came from a reader. Take my word for it no one is going to talk about it and my only hope it all died in that Executive Session.

Speaking of asking a fireman I've been told our new 'old' tower truck is MIA again...

Love your inside sources...you were "told" something and that is blog-worthy. When you confirm something, that's when you should be making your statement. Again more hearsay?

12:24 Ask your council people? Why was the city manager in the court room as they discussed "personnel" in Executive Session. They won't because they were discussing him.
It's a simple question and the answer would be blog-worthy. I don't reveal sources sorry!

Not talking about EX session. Read your comment that states you were told the truck is MIA. Then reread 12:24. Fact or fiction?Speak the truth not with a forked tongue.

I went up there and the truck was missing? What's your point that the truck is MIA or I told you about it?
Speaking of trucks after the city privatized garbage pick-up they kept a 20 year old or so garbage truck. Well today when they were out picking up leaf bags they had to rent a garbage truck. There's a morale to this story one way or the other I can't quite figure it out. I do believe the city has shoddy upkeep on all of their equipment.

That's right blame the maintenance program now. Not the ages, wear and tear of equipment with no sources of income to replace them. It's way better in Mentor (Willoughby,Perry, Madison, etc.)- they have industry and business to sustain what they need, Painesville does not nor will they until they clean up the crime (drugs, prostitution)illegals, and the other messes they have there. Then maybe people wont be afraid to come here. What a shame from the town it used to be.
