"U CAN'T TOUCH THIS" mc hammer

People ask me many times what I love about Painesville. Well I guess the best answer is just to watch what's coming up next.

As I have told you many times about many things "You can't make this stuff up."

Well Saturday a new chapter in the continuing "Story of Painesville"

General Paine has been beheaded!  Yes just like Saddam Hussiens statute came down in Bagdad, well now General Paine's has too.

A college prank? No First report a backhole working at Steele Mansion accidentally brought it down? I'm not buying that story either. It seems a certain Gas Company with ties to a Painesville Councilman seems to be putting in new gas lines near the statue, Could they accidentally brought the good general down.

Another good reason to go to Monday's council meeting.

AH, Painesville the city that never rests.

Don't let your mind wander, it's way too little to be out alone.
Get real. There's no conspiracy, no story, move along. And yes people have asked you what you like about your town and you can't even answer a simple question, little minds.

Hmmm, that might explain why the official City position was that, without an eye witness, they could not charge anyone.
Oh, and they were not out looking for any witnesses.
I am shocked I tell you!

I wonder if someone at City Hall is already researching whether there's available grant money somewhere for repairing statues.

The truth be told after investigating the facts the company installing water lines on Washington while installing a water shut off in Charter Oak Park took responsibility for damaging the statue. the city is gathering estimates from local monument companies for repair to the statue and the contractor is paying for the repairs. No mystery here just the facts as of the day it happened.

Term, instead of trying to defame our council people why don't
(ie. gas company tied to a council person)get the facts - not everything is a conspiracy with the exception of you always downing the city. Maybe you need to look into your past - ever make a tragic mistake we believe you did.

4:00 You must not know me very well that tragic mistake 44 years ago. I don't need to be reminded about. It's something I have to live with everyday of my life. AND I do. I make no excuses for myself on what happened that night in August of 1968.

Now as far as a conspiracy as one comment here suggest no one had stepped up to the plate. (at the time of the incident.) Why that person and company were mentioned by me was that two structures were built on Mentor Ave. by that gas company without approval of zoning, planning or even council. Again the gas company claim is that it was unnecessary to do so. ( some good neighbor policy) Let's all hope nothing ever hits either of those structures, one built in the front yard of residential property. Also question that certain councilman who he believed caused the problem.
3:53 there should have been no mystery even on that day.
10:29 An insurance company somewhere is asking you did what to a statue?

Attacking the Blogger seems to be a popular past time for a couple of chronic commenters! While as accusing Term of being small minded, they expose their own petty maliciousness! I only hope they are not involved in Painesville's political management, but if they are, that would explain a lot! I don't mind opposing opinions, but these childish attacks are so moronic! Grow up, for heavens sake!

9:55 I guess it comes with the territory never realized so many people believed everything was so good around here. They can call me anything they want but it doesn't change the facts we have some real problems around here. Look if you believe the electric deals Painesville made, the equipment purchases, along with idea's like 'streetscape' letting streets get as bad as they did along with a poor preforming school system that at times refuses to address certain issues. If you want to believe we are on a forward direction for the city God Bless You. If your like the former CM that only wanted to hear good news you have come to the wrong site. I guess people don't like being reminded? For the most part I have learned to laugh at most because... for some reason or another they refuse to identify themselves. I wonder why?

For the first 50 years of my life I believed like a child unconditionally loves their mother that the best interests in Painesville were for the residents, well as you get older you realize your mother isn't perfect but you still love her the same. Well I concluded about a dozen years ago the best interests of Painesville residents weren't as important as some self-interest of some people around here. That I conclude as the main problem around here.

what happen in 1968, why so sad?

So the gas company installed something a couple years ago and therefore they damaged the statue?
Now that's logic.

Sorry, Mr. Term set the tone by presenting inaccuracies in his reporting, half-truths and speculating to incite problems on his site. If someone feels the way they do, he brings it on himself.
Back in 1968, did that involve the basement at the Laundromat on Chestnut street right by the tracks? Just wondering which relative was involved there?

9:55am, who do you mean by "political management"?

2:58 No more ridiculous then a councilman suggesting it had something to do with the construction at Steele Mansion?
Speaking of Steele Mansion nice article in yesterdays News-Herald. But then there will be no more tours due to a property owner who doesn't live in the city getting a court order to stop the tours until an occupancy permit is issued. Those people must have the patience of Job.
This is the same person that contacted a councilman and claimed if he voted for the Mansion they would no longer be friends. That councilman never realized they were friends in the first place?
The outsiders want to run your city people.
3:27 Half truths and speculations? What are you doing?
I'm debating if it should even be brought up here?

Didn't answer 2:25 or 3:27? You opened the door for questions from the floor, now you wont answer em?

No news from the council meeting last nite? Must have not been much going on. Executive session? Whats that all about?

Term,
No, it should NOT be brought up here.
Those who know, know.
This who don't have no need to know.

2:58
You obviously do not know the story.
A certain gas company installs a couple of devices in the City without the proper permits or authorization. They did the work over the weekend so no one would be aware that it was being done. because of this the City has new legislation in place to prevent this from happening again.
The tie in is that they do their work in a rather clandestine manner. Get it now?

Having a view point that is at odds with Term neither justifies, or excuses, personal and childish attacks! If one feels so personally offended why would they bother with this blog? The ones attacking him the most never bother offering any sort of credible evidence to properly debate Term. Name calling and smearing another person is called a temper tantrum, not a valid point of view.

Well said 3:02. Sounds like Term gave enough information above for anyone that has an 'inquiring mind' to research the answers for themselves that they seem to need so desperately. What a shame that Term has rattled enough cages that people need to lower themselves to personal attacks in order to try to discredit him or obscure the real issues that this blog is all about. I do know the facts about 1968 and I would never presume to add to the pain of anyone involved...even after these many years. I also know that I (like every other person in this world including 2:25 and 3:27) live in a glass house. The true measure of a person is whether they take personal responsibility for their actions. Term has done that. And as far as the basement card games - is that all you got? Can we get back to a real discussion on the public issues at hand?

I guess by answering those personal comments I did open the door. I played a huge part in a personal tragedy in 1968 and I make no excuses. I was the driver in a car accident where my passenger lost his life because of the injuries he sustained. And yes, alcohol and speeding were involved. All I can say is that until you are responsible for the taking of another person’s life...you have no idea of the personal guilt and remorse I feel. Since you obviously know who I am, I will continue to accept personal responsibility and say this: if you would like to discuss this further with me privately, email me and name the place and time.

Wow, pretty slimy tactics and for what possible reason. Why continuously hide behind the "anonymous" blogger title? Glad you're so happy here, keep drinking the koolaid, some of us expect a little more from a city with $70 mil tax base.

I ruminated over this blog for quite some time last night, and decided I had better wait awhile before commenting. The internet is a wonderful invention, but it also can be used, and often is used, for evil. This little hometown blog exposes that fact, and one of the evils of social media is that people frequently hide behind anonymity to safely hurl insults, and personal attacks that without that mask, they wouldn`t have the courage to say to another`s face! In my opinion, such a person is a despicable, small minded weasel, who`s judgmental pronouncements should be condemned by all decent people. Term, you will never be contacted by such a person, because they are devoid of any such character traits, that would allow them to be forthright. They are a bully, and you do not have to give them your forum to continue beating on you! I commend you for publishing their remarks, and taking away their self-righteous "power" by addressing this terribly sad, and ancient tragedy, committed by a typical teenager of the 1960`s. I, as many others, are fortunate that we weren`t involved in similar situations! Please continue to give us your take on the "state of the city", as I find it a valuable service! God Bless! Sincerely, Gregg
