"WE'VE ONLY JUST BEGUN" carpenters

"A kiss for luck and we're on the way." Sorry maybe a kiss, but for the most part no ones going anywhere. Winter has come early to Painesville. Not quite the gales but the snow.

Traveling in Painesville was horrendous today and yes the weather was the major factor but a few other things entered into the mess.

Main St. Streetscape was I believed to be finished by the time of "Taste of Painesville". Now I wonder if and when the Christmas tree lighting will take place? Yesterday Main St. between the Nolan building and St. Clair St. had all the asphalt removed?

Another thing I wonder about have  any of the rest of  seen a problem with the timing on traffic lights in the city? Main St. Chestnut St. Cedarbrook St. just to name a couple. Timing on some traffic lights make little or no sense? Remember when they were all replaced alond with battery packs that even if the power went off they would still function? Seems Painesville is a little reactive than proactive?

On another note the bags with leaves problem is solved? Yes the snow plows will distribute them back into the street.

Speaking of snow plows whoever was driving truck 22 today, the metal thing on the front scrapes snow off the road. Just think maybe if you would have put it down on Chestnut St. some cars might not have gotten stuck driving over the tracks?

Well spring ain't that far away.... Oh, that's when we deal with the flooding issues.

Hang tough Painesvillittes.

I am sitting here looking at a traffic jam that has been here for the last two plus hours. In 50+ years of living here, I have NEVER seen traffic this screwed up. I have no idea what is causing it but I won't be going to to find out.
Yes, the streets in downtown are something else. Where else but in Painesville can you have construction on three of the four major roads all at the same time?
Is anyone in charge of this ship??

It's 5:53 and the bus with my kids still isn't here.

I saw my grandkids bus stuck at Prouty and 84. The ice was really bad everywhere. It was only 32 degrees and salt would take care of things. But you best get it down BEFORE the gridlock, HAHA.

It was a real mess. It hit at just the right time and all at once. It came down really hard.

Can't wait to retire.

You need new material - "Escapes" has already been used. Is that plagiarism? Who's in charge of this ship?
You don't get out much do you?

I believe Riverside played a huge part in the traffic screwup. They released kids a little early on account of the snow. Unfortunately since the High School has no busing that meant hundreds of cars being turned loose at once during the worst part of the snowfall along with hundreds of parents driving to pick their kids up from the high school. This completely clogged Route 84, Madison Ave, and ultimately Route 20 was the only way to get in and out of the city from the east. I know bvecause I was caught in the middle of this just before 2:00 PM. The city and Township should try to put pressure on the Riverside school district to bring back busing and get those cars off the road. This is an areawide safety issue.

9:42 and to some of you others Who dropped the ball? It seems myself and many others did also. Thursday morning 2 to 4 inches by 1:00 pm we all realized how wrong that prediction was.

As far as the schools were the children safe? I believe they were. Maybe we should have cut them all loose at 1:00 pm? Look everyone was caught flat footed and some have posted good reasons why it went south yesterday. In the words of Aaron Rodgers R_E_L_A_X !

6:58 Maybe screwed over would be a better name?

Wow, it's Ohio, we get snow! Remember last winter? The dedicated staff and teachers stayed and took care of kids. They didn't starve or get hurt. The schools got the kids home...... Yes, relax..... This is only November.

Hey folks...were some of you absent that day in kindergarten when they explained that sometimes things just don't go the way you want them to and no one is really at fault...? As long as no one died because an ambulance or fire truck couldn't get to them then lets just chalk it up to one of the joys of living in Ohio with first snowfall jitters. Is slowing down and helping others such a foreign concept? I'd hate to see what would happen if a real disaster occurred. And no, I wasn't sitting at home nice and cozy - I had to deal with it just like everyone else. I did see some junior adults pushing people that needed help and just had to stop and really look at the beautiful trees that still had fall leaves AND snow on them. And my grand daughter's snow angels were worth the price of admission.

3:21 Yes there was a lot of stress Thursday. Stuck in traffic where are the plows? ect.
Lady stuck in a parking lot me telling her to straighten her wheels and her answer why? Answer do it for me.
Reflexing the students were safe and as many mention this in NE Ohio deal with it.
3:21 sorry no use for the beautiful trees and leaves with snow on them Thursday. My vocabulary was saying something elseabout the snow.

I am sure they were aware of the parking lot situation. Libs, Cons yesterday made you were all the same yesterday STUCK!

Hey Term....stop and smell the flowers once in a while. Did your vocabulary get you anywhere any faster? We may be masters of our fates but we are certainly NOT masters of the weather (or other people's lack of intelligence).

10:10 If they had the sentence structure here would have improved by now. I guess what I'm trying to relate to some of you is make your thoughts known to people that can do something about it.
8:00 Everyone makes mistakes no doubt about it. But what the city endured under the previous administration I believe things are improving. It didn't get bad in a year and it won't get fixed in one year either.
I believe we are better off with Mr. Shepherd instead of Dr. Hanlon
along with;
The city being better off with Mr. Carson rather then Ms. McMahon. Disagree if you wish.

At November 18, 2014 at 9:06 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Please tell us how we are better off with Mr. Shepherd???? And how many years before we see just how good he is? If you get a job and say you don't get better at it in a year can you still have it?? Wake UP! like you did with McMahon!! You are the smart one!!

9:06 He ain't Hanlon period. Also I see less tension in the schools with staff.
Hanlon's only reason for not having an SRO officer at Harvey was not to protect students but he didn't want a paper trail of what was going on at the Harvey. The man brought us the 50% policy without informing the community. We lost many good staff do to him. and his regime. Give the system time you don't see results overnight.
Finally did the system get better for his time here? Let Chardon deal with it.

At November 19, 2014 at 9:34 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Chardon does like him they gave him a raise?

9:34b So, He got one here every year also. Even as he looked for a new system every year. The question remains did we get our money's worth? Will Chardon?

10:17 Please list your complaint(s)I think many of us would like to understand what you believe is the problems presently?

Could we be expecting to much in to short of time?

The schools have these round table discussions. I suggest the above people go to them, call the board and speak to administration personally. Your concerns need to be addressed there not here by making lists of concerns, Terminator does not work for the school and cant make it better.
When he can't or won't answer a question he advises readers to contact the person in authority. I think you people with questions would be far better off doing the same.

12:20 great answer but you and I both know that person probably won't go. I wonder what they want that they don't believe the schools are doing?

WHAT HAS MR. Shepard DONE??????
How many kids will pay the price of being under payed their whole life from lack of education?? Give them food stamps! now get it over with!

I don't care about Hanlon! I know you and Obama like to blame the last guy!
But please tell me how long you will give Mr. Shepard????? And what he has done???????????????????????????????

What would you like him to do/ I know a third grader reading a level Z (7th grade), is he responsible? or is the system making an opportunity for students?
Yes I blame
Hanlon and his regime for some of where we are at today. Question Do you believe Hanlon was looking out for PCLS and it's students of for Hanlon? Sometimes the last guy should be blamed.

Talk about a lack of education.
"under payed"??
Maybe try "underpaid".

As was suggested to you, more than once, do some of your own fact checking. The man has been in the City schools less than a year. Is everything "perfect". Not likely but it is sure a step better every day.

BTW, I have to ask why you are so bitter? Are YOU helping to make things better or are you just a chronic complainer?

.

10:29 This persons spelling is not the problem. I only wonder what they are so upset about? Yes, why so bitter?

just keep talking around it and 8:15
you impress me with your education
you got the point! stop trying to make yourself better then you are! wow underpaid is that all you got! strike a little nerve! your boy is not all that!
bitter? NO! Just want big improvement!
the kids can not wait years like with the last guy! hope my spelling is OK with you wise guys sorry about the grammar! I have a 5th grade education
had to go to work to feed my family!

This is 10:29 and I don't need to do anything to feel better about myself. You sure as heck did NOT strike a nerve.
BTW, with your grammar and punctuation, that is not all I have but I decided to take it easy on you but at least you recognize that it needs help.
BTW, this is a Painesville schools education. It does work.
To address your question, I did not get your point.
Just exactly what kind of BIG improvement would suit you? Give an example so we understand what you mean.
Have a good time at work, I am retired and it is a lot better.
Have a great day!

I am 82 years old 6:49 and retired also
I would like to 21 and still working! I always have a great day! When you have got to leave school to work and feed your family! And then go to war for your country you want more improvement for the kids! you sound like you did not like to work! sorry your job sucked hope you have enough MONEY to live on!
Thanks for taking easy on me! Did you work as a teacher? just a guess!

10:07 There are many things a person has seen in 82 years you don't find in a book.
First you are what we call America's greatest generation. Thanks for your service. If there was ever a group who gave more and complained less I haven't seen it. Look I can't speak for 6:49 only I don't believe disrespect was their intention. I also sensed bitterness in your comments. I guess maybe you have judged a person before they had a reasonable time to deliver. I guess I'm asking why you believe things aren't getting better and where would you like to see improvement. None of us should assume so much about one another.
The only reason I don't write payed on many of these posts is my computer has spell check. God Bless you and enjoy your retirement.

Thank you for your service. I don't want to get caught up in this grammar/school debate. I would like to suggest you go back and get your diploma or a GED. My Dad dropped out of school and lied about his age to enlist during the Korean War Conflict. He also got his GED, an accomplishment at any age!

8:15-Food stamps is what most of them want. Sure, there are many that want to get their education, go to college, trade school, military or just work for a living. The majority come from poverty here and Painesville was not ever as bad as it is now. Speaking to today's youth, they figure they are all entitled to the welfare system just as their parents and grandparents. They do not want anything but a government handout. Why should anyone get a job when your rent, food, health care even your cell phone is handed to you? Meantime we middle-class working fools are getting poorer the more we try. Along with immigration reform we need welfare reform too. A hand up then get going on your own and take away the welfare train.
