"NO LETTER TODAY" ray charles

Wonder what's going on in Batavia, IL. this week? Wonder what happened at their Monday council meeting?

" The city of Batavia formally requested that Attorney General Lisa Madigan investigate whether there was anything "inappropriate" about the deal with Prairie State Energy, the city's energy provider.

'...The City respectfully requests the Illinois Attorney General to conduct an investigation and audit of the Prairie State Project agreements and  contracts and the communities currently obligated under them to determine the following: 1. whether the City of Batavia was given full and accurate information about the Prairie State Project agreements. 2.whether any affirmative, material misrepresentations or material omissions were made in the presentation of information to the City of Batavia with respect to the Prairie State Project...'

Thank-you Batavia it's nice to see community representatives do more than sit on their hands and care about the residents investment and costs.

I don't know how much more "Data" we as a city need to do something but I guess Mrs. DiNallo's comment that we will pay for the defense of PSEC is coming true.

What's really interesting about all this is how a city council and administration can decide to be investment bankers and 'Gamble' with a communities assets and future?

Enjoy that plaque council!

Nice to see that a city has a Council that doesn't need to be lead around by the nose in order to do what is right.
I wonder if we will ever see the same?

11:06 You miss the concept of what a council person does. He or she is only to be viewed as a nice P.R. person, whether or not they look out for the residents is only a mirage. If by some vote they could be viewed as mean or ruthless. No way. That's why 32 people stand around at the power plant. No one want's to take responsibility of doing what should be done.

A person stopped me at lunch today that claimed all this hostility about coal will go away with the Republicans and he expected less regulation. First off the real problem with coal is natural gas and even if fewer regulations do pass and old coal power plants produce more we still are stuck with a very high priced PSEC power plant. Seems no matter what happens we're stuck.
Don't forget that other 69.00 MWh,. contract starting in 2015.
