"HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY 2014"

Enjoy your long weekend and take some time to remember the people who gave us these freedoms.

At the time of the Revolution  33% of the people wanted Independence 33% wanted to stay loyal to King George and the British Empire and 33% didn't care one way or the other. Pretty much how the country seems to be divided presently.

Although since the year 2000 the country seems to have lost it's will or desire to compromise, for fear compromise somehow meant defeat. I'm amazed how well we are doing presently but could you imagine if everyone would sit down and be willing to work together? Has that dream ended?

We need a President that needs to work with the Congress and a Congress willing to work with him. Not so he has a great legacy but something that will be beneficial to all the American people.

We must be doing something right seems everyone in the world wants to come here. The American Dream is still alive all we need to do is work together.

Let's stop treating this country as a sporting event truth be told we can all win.

Reading a biography of Jimmy Stewart. Quick look to the NY Times obituary, July 3rd, 1997, "The Hesitant Hero". This is an understatement. People only think of Mr. Stewart from the Christmas Story. Look a little closer. Joined the services early 1941 and an accomplished bomber pilot and his war record speaks for itself.

But why would I bring this up at all? Values and character are so important and unfortunately I feel lacking in current societal thoughts of 'all about me'.

Not sure if accurate, but a close summation by Mr.Stewart. Life is "dedication to hard work, love of country, love of family, love of community" Well said, and lived a life to reflect this, humbly, and when finally retired, Congress acknowledged this admiration for these values. Mr. Stewart passed as a brigadier general, which was earned.

Many people on this holiday need to think on this, it is not all about food.

Your absolutely correct. When someone asks if America is an exceptional country the answer should be the country had exceptional people. If it was the first generation of American or the WWII generation that went through a depression and brought freedom to the world. This along with one of the greatest achievements of mankind putting a man on the moon.
