"LONESOME LOSER" little river band
"Beaten by the Queen
Well you won't read about this on the Painesville website, Painesville Pride or even the News-Herald.
In todays April 03,2014 Columbus Dispatch, the headline;
AMP loses case seeking millions from power-plant contractor.
AMP sued Bechtel for 97 million in connection with Meigs County plant that was never built
AND LOST!
If AMP-OHIO had won the City of Painesville would have got their 2.1/2.7 million dollars back that we sent to stop possible future interest payments. Sorry the 2 plus million is gone so lets quit pretending it's not council members.
I don't know if council members believed the hype or not but please no more "it's in the courts arguments"....Unless AMP-OHIO appeals then Mrs. DiNallo we would be on the hook for that cost too.
Wonder if the people who proposed and voted for this failed project would like to come back to council so the residents of Painesville can thank them properly? No in Painesville wisdom we will honor them and put them in charge of something else.

Lewis, lift the rug, McHugh find me the biggest broom!
Maybe we could turn the old power plant into the Painesville reserve and start printing money..... We're gonna need it!
Sorry it was in the Herald.. So all this time everyone was screaming the city was involved in getting their money back.... To make you guys and girls happy. You all should be happy that it was tried
1:28 got to wonder how they found out?
The city wasn't involved they were just along for the ride.
No one is happy about losing 2 million, maybe next time the know-it-all's might take time to listen to some of us know-nothings.
Along with explaining out in the open these deals they make.
More bad news on the way!
If the last administration had taken the time to read contracts and stop sitting "proudly" on council maybe we would still have 2.3 million in the city's bank account. For those who stood and questioned council and this contract, we were ignored and this mess was pushed through. We still have the legal advisor on this contract employed by the city. Why?
It is very frustrating to see no one take responsibility for our involvement in the AMP contract. And yet one of the culprits who voted for the contract remains and is now council president......... How? Why? Outrage?
Sandy, just to clarify Paul Hach did admit to making a mistake voting for Meigs County at a public meet the candidate forum.
Why no outrage? Well it's like the frog slowly boiling to death. No one will notice until it's to late.
I spent my morning at a LeedCo meeting in Cleveland. It lasted almost two and half hours. If you don't know what LeedCo is, think 6 wind turbines out on Lake Erie. It's happening and it's exciting. The charts and power point would have put AMP to shame. About half way through I started doing a slow boil. I went to my first LeedCo several years ago as we were knee deep in AMP and I wondered what else was out there. Obama had just been elected and he had a pretty strong warning against coal burning power plants. As I looked at the LeedCo time line and who they were talking to and research that went forward, my breathing stopped. Why our city manager lashed us to a 50 year contract with a coal burning plant is outrageous! She had to know this was coming and it was big. The jobs it will be bringing is big. LeedCo talked to Ashtabula Co, Lake Co and Cuyahoga Co. They specifically talked to the commissioners and every single entity that has anything to do with the lake. Do not tell me the last administration did not know this was coming. I had to walk out and get a breath of air. Anyone who voted for this AMP deal is negligent. They were told how to vote and they were puppets. This is not acceptable for a city official in any capacity. Now our retired city manager is working for the Port Authority and is neck deep in LeedCo..... the leopard changed her spots and we are on the hook to AMP.
This morning changed my thinking. I used to defend the last administration as felt they were acting out of fear for future energy demand. I can no longer support anyone who voted for the AMP deal. Whether they stepped up to the plate and now says; "I made a mistake". The right thing to do would be step aside and let engaged, forward thinking council people step up. In fifteen years those windmills will be paid off, not 50. The energy will eventually be cheaper. Did you know there was a survey given to business and random residential communities in all three counties and 92% of those surveyed said were willing to pay more for green energy produced in Ohio by Ohioians? 92 percent..... when was the last time you heard a number like this? LeedCo is also staying out of the political arena. Painesville residents really need to wake up. I'd like to see a presentation by LeedCo before council. What they are doing is common sense for the improvement of Ohio. Right now in Columbus there are law makers trying to save 1200 coal miners jobs. The numbers this morning for new jobs were exciting, 600 -800 for the initial 6 windmills and eventually building to 10,000. However we have law makers willing to stand on the throat of 10,000 new jobs to save 1200 antiquated, outdated jobs. We also build many of the parts for wind turbines here in Ohio. This city could have had economic development in spades....... we need more visionaries in the city.
I can hardly wait to hear to hear the report from Sandy Hook, Maryland group on the flooding....... scammed again. Everything we needed was right here..... keep Ohioians working please!
Reading the article in the news herald I came to the conclusion the only people "reckless" were our administration and council. It's a good thing Mr. McHugh has another 20 million in his piggy bank it appears the direction Painesville is heading he will need every red cent.
Didn't our electric company get that 20 million in their piggy bank by erroneously charging the Painesville residents a Power Cost Factor (or whatever they call it)? Isn't that money that they have been cheating us out of?
The council people and McMahon who voted for this coal mess were warned and warned by the citizens. Hada, McMahon, etc. gave us shady, incomplete and incorrect answers when they were pressed and pressed. I suggest if we can get someone in here to investigate McMahon, etc., that we show them the old tapes (and someone had better secure them quickly before they disappear), so they can see just what we were purposefully told and purposefully not told, and all the worming around McMahon and Hada did to hide the truths, which I think they clearly knew. If there was nothing to hide, then there would have been no need for all the shadiness. And how Hada "proudly" voted for it as he looked straight into the faces of the citizens who were opposed. And was Flock the only one who voted no? But yet instead of explaining and explaining to the citizens why this was a bad idea so the council couldn't get away with it, he just sat there and mumbled, as usual, and then voted his usual "no" while doing nothing else. I blame every person who was on council, along with our city manager at the time, McMahon, and Gurley, our legal council at the time.
Is anyone coming to investigate all of this and these people? Does anyone know? AMP aren't the only ones that need investigated.
And now McMahon is still in this city and acting on behalf of the citizens of Painesville in some circumstances. Bring in the investigators. That should get her out of here again.
4:29 Maybe we should gather those old tapes? Maybe then you will hear the dialogue between Flock and Hada?
In the end Flock, Werner voted NO Hada, Hach, DelaMotte, Becks Fountain voted YES.
Investagation? Hell no one even wants to send a letter asking for one.
It is quite possible that they don't want to send a letter asking for an investigation because they don't want it to come back on themselves and/or their buddies for voting on this insane, obvious mess, and also because they don't want any investigations that may go deep enough to investigate the people who voted "yes," to see if there may have been ulterior motives there. I mean, it certainly seems like there must be ulterior motives for not asking for investigations, doesn't it?
Why is council the only ones who can send a letter to launch an investigation? Can't we, the citizens, send a letter? TERM, what about your PAC? Can they send a letter?
I have on my own. POC I don't know. Another route would be to address this with our state representatives that represent this area.Maybe they can get the ball moving?
It seems presenty a very small group even cares about this. I guess you can put this one with "how did they pull that off?"
I will share my ideas on the blog. Please any ideas you have are welcomed.
