" I HEAR THE SECRETS THAT YOU KEEP" romantics

Secrets? Hardly.

New CVS to be built corner of E.Erie, N.State, E. Jackson.

New County Jail across from the old jail. The worst kept secret in Painesville, my county birdie tell's me a well known local demolishing company has already won the bid to take down the buildings on the north side of E. Erie St. that said Painesville council should also be aware of that situation. Why bring this up ?
As you know we are starting to repave some of our streets in Painesville. I just question the choices due to all the demolishing and construction this year in Painesville? Main St. Streetscape the activity on E .Erie St. maybe some action on Washington St? I just want to make sure that everything is being considered. We can't afford do-overs.

Also remember that Lakeview Bluff project that involved Painesville, Fairport Harbor, and Painesville Township?
Well that project seems to be coming to an untimely end. It seems IMG want's to end its partnership with Hemispheres Corporation. No golf courses, no state of the art athletic development, vineyard, trout farm, homes.
Only thing Painesville got out of this were promises. What the previous administration did was give Todd Davis a lot of Painesville soil to help cover-up more than 16.5 tons of radioactive land. Thanks to the former Diamond- Chemical plant. Many old-time Painesville residents knew this was a stupid idea when proposed but why listen to common-sense. Another black-eye to our community.

It seems many of our newest members in Heisley Park have now realized that two bordering neighbors just happen to be railroads? I don't know what these residents have been promised by local, state and federal officials. Where was the developer as well as former city officials about concerns about a buffer between the two. Is  it two railroads  fault or his everyone forgot about personal responsibility? There was a reason your homes cost $75,000 less than if they were located on a cull-da-sac in Concord Township.
This was poor planning on the part of the McMahon administration. Why build a buffer if we can cram  a few more homes there. 10# in a 5# sack? Heisley Park residents I'll trade a railroad siding for a gun range any day.
Here's an idea to those residents? Ms. McMahon is gone but.... the President of the Planning Commissions presently sits on council as a Councilman-at -Large. Maybe you could come to a council meeting and ask him what the thinking was when those plats were approved?
Can we expect another letter? If so this one should be fairly easy. Send it to ourselves no one to blame but the developer and the McMahon administration.

The Clown-Car returns to Painesville at Harvey March 4, 2014 seems the Liberty Coalition Candidate Forum (Tea Party) starts promptly at 7:00 PM.
Featured candidates are (R) Matt Lynch  who is attempting to unseat (R) David Joyce for Ohio's 14 District.
(R) Linda O'Brien who's is running against (R) Sarah LaTourette for Ohio' 76 state district. Just to name afew. Nothing like a good family fight or is it just eating your own? My question how will the 14th district be better served by replacing one Republican with another?

And some of you thought all we had to worry about was sending a letter to the Feds about the Hispanics?

A question to city leadership if you are asked to make a substantial investment to run electric power somewhere, how long should it take to recoup your investment? Not promised estimates (we know how those turnout) Just asking. Please pretend you are really a business.

Seems this winter has taken a toll on even our newest paved street. Are those speed bumps on Charlotte St. just off Liberty?

Seems Painesville Electric Power OWES AMP-OHIO over $830,000 in "levelization" costs? That's not a secret that's a fact!

To Ward III Councilman  Deleone.  As an attorney you must be aware there are many definitions for a "nuisance" besides sound decibels? Don't want to carry the ball Mike? Fine. No need we will solve this issue with or without your help. Maybe I will put you in touch with the real-estate agent who lost a sale on Cedarbrook do to all the constant shooting? It even affects property values.

In the last year or so Painesville council agreed and voted  to an arrangment to take over running the Painesville Senior Center ? In conversation it seems that arrangement has never happened? Any thoughts on why.

And finally the weather seems to be breaking and to the city street department, cold patch doesn't work try something new, or is it only done to make everybody look busy?

I was just thinking about Lakeview Bluffs as I drove by it last Thursday. Actually kind of wondered what might be going on back there. I guess "nothing" is the answer.
Like you, I am an "old timer" who remembers when I first heard about this project. My first thought was "Love Canal" because it didn't seem to be too much different. Why would anyone with half a brain but a home back there? My feeling was that all the people of my generation would have to be dead before that land would sell.

Noise from trains in Heisley Park? Who would have ever guessed that would be the case? After all, the tracks have only been there for 100+ years. You are looking at homes and you don't see active tracks that close to your dream home?? Are you blind? The fight should not be with the railroad. They are doing exactly what they have done back there for years and years. Your fight is with the City and the developer over the noise barrier that they say is not needed. Good luck!

I get the feeling Deleone is about as useful as Fountain? Talks the talk but won't walk the walk.

Maybe the clown bunch can get Ted Nugent in for a rant? Why our school system puts up with this bunch is beyond me?

Does anyone know if ANYTHING is going to be done at "Lakeview Bluffs," or is ALL called off?

I find it amazing we spend more time and energy on an letter about illegal residents then on owing AMP Ohio $830,000 and compounding daily. Hope Council woman Dinallo is as passionate about writing a check to AMP as she is about getting a co-penned with Victoria Dahlberg off to our Representives. Hope all of council brings "levelization" costs to the table for discussion and some type of resolution. Wondering if anybody else is watching the WV coal ash/ground water contamination by Duke energy and a little worried. We now own part of a coal ash field and need to be taking notes.

As far as the Heisley Park park residents..... personal responsibility. Isn't CSX grandfathered in, they have been there forever? I believe their fight should be with the zoning commission, planning commission, city engineer and Ryan Homes. Unfortunately this goes back to the McMahon and Hada legacy.

Lakeview Bluffs...... Love Canal, spot on Old Timer. And they were going to have a winery... I used to enjoy the view but they changed the land so much you can't even see the lake anymore. The only ones who got bluffed was the city.

Maybe we would be better to grade all the asphalt off the streets and go down to dirt! But then I drove through Cleveland Heights last weekend and thought I was driving through Beirut! I can't think of any city who has great streets this winter......

Has Council determined yet how the first of the recently-passed road levy money is going to be spent? After the election, I suggested in this forum that Painesville streets used by the most people should be repaired first, but was criticized by others, most of whom preferred to have neighborhood streets addressed. After a winter of driving on E. Erie, Richmond and W. Washington, to name a few, I wonder how others feel about this now?

6:27 my only point was do you want to repair street's before or after the construction is done. I believe that should be taken into consideration along with the routes of the construction vehicles. I believe Washington as well as Walnuts streets decay was do to the construction and demolishing of the former schools.
5:03 You have to wonder where our prioritys are when dealing with local issues? I can see no way CSX should be held responsible for what goes on at Heisley Park. At last nights meeting the council was informed that CSX want's to be good neighbors but that siding serves an important service to the railroad. It was mentioned earlier that CSX was using that siding as a yard. In violation of the law due to the fact that the railcars had no motive power attached to them. (engine) So the next time they parked a train there they left the engines attached and running. At Painesville's request the engines were removed leaving the railroad in violation. This situation was all caused by the Builder, the city administration failure for not having a natural buffer. Again if Painesville ever wants to change its reputation Quality before Quantity must take place. I have also learned those lots near the R/R were discounted.
Lakeview Bluffs? Why anyone would want to live in that area or even invest in that project is beyond me? Last weekend I dined at Brennan's in Grand River as I left the men's room there is a picture on the wall of the Diamond property in around 1930? Next time you happen to eat there take a look at it. A picture IS worth a 1000 words.

Mr.627, just so you are aware E.Erie,or route 20 and Richmond St. Are both state routes and fixing them is up to the state of Ohio, just like route 84. So none of those street will even be looked at by the city. Just information

Heisley Park. We used to play out in the woods in that area in the 50's.

Is it true that there are giant caverns underneath Heisley Park where Diamond Alkali brine wells were operated?

Is it true that a company stored gas in them after Diamond abandoned them?

Would it be a good idea to purchase "mine subsidence" insurance?

I guess if a zillion ton freight train can cross there, it's OK.

10:53 #1 Yes #2 Yes Lake Underground Storage Hundreds of thousands of lb.s of it. #3 I would #5 CSX is constantly adding ballast (stones) under the track in that area.
9:36 Then why didn't the state do the road between Wood St. and the eastern city limit the last time they repaved.

So does anyone know if everything is called off at Lakeview Bluffs, or will some of it continue?

Lakeview Bluffs, Hmmm, I realize the economy went South, but maybe they made all the profit they needed from the Feds for the cleanup? Pretty good gig! I hope it never comes to fruition, as it will be a "Love Canal" in the future. Why do we need a new jail? 24 yrs.and the "old" one is shot? No wonder the country is broke! Roads? Everywhere, they`re terrible. We should only patch where construction will destroy them any way. Electric rates? Well, I`m new to Painesville, but already I plan on replacing every appliance I can with natural gas, and buying as many LED bulbs I can afford. The hand writing is on the wall for several reasons!

10:53am, yes Lake Underground Storage. And those tunnels are still under Heisley Park and extends into other sections of Painesville. It is listed on hazardous sites. I wouldn't live in a house on top of that.

7:19 Trains aren't the biggest concern for Heisley Park residents?
11:24 I don't think anybody made out.
New jail inferior foundation and putting water lines inside the walls. Recently I have been told this might be able to be repaired with a 5 million dollar fix? Noone in the county is listening.
Electric rates? forget gas save your nickels and in the very near future purchase solar panels and do what you can to get off the grid.
