"EXPRESS YOURSELF" madonna

This upcoming Monday March 3, 2014 Painesville City Council will vote on sending a letter to Federal officials with concerns to the illegal population that currently resides in our Painesville community. As I have mentioned illegal immigration is one of the top three issues that gets many responses on this site.

Now I understand Mrs. DiNallo's concern on this issue and I respect her for bringing it forward but really will this letter make a difference one way or another?  When Mrs. DiNallo mentioned she had "teamed up" with Veronica Dahlberg she lost me. This letter should have been a collaboration between council members and the whole Painesville community.

Believe it or not I do see the issue from both sides and if anything I wish there was more tolerance for each other's views.

First off I see no way of removing 11 to 20 million people from this country that for the most part, but sorry yes, they were asked to come here. At the same time I don't expect the borders to remain free and open, and handing these new arrivals the keys to the kingdom without some sacrifice of there own. Learning English, understanding American history, some sort of monetary fine to represent that they did break the law of not just entering the country, but using other peoples social security numbers, fake or no driver's licenses. No federal or state benefits until they pass their citizenship test. On a side note Mrs. DiNallo questioned at the last council meeting if these Hispanic children born in the United States could even be Mexican citizens? I checked and a child born of just one Mexican citizen parent would receive Mexican citizenship. So that child would have dual citizenship.

Again, to the people who want them deported show me the plan. Wanting something and showing how it's accomplished are two different things. I think this is a reasonable request asking the how.

My religious faith has always told me to welcome the stranger. I was also brought up to judge a person as an individual not on race, religion, or economic status.

That said as I listened to Mr. Werner at the council meeting tell us he has been a resident since 1965 and would like his town to revert back to that period.
Well Hal I got 15 years on you and for the first five I remember very little. My golden years of Painesville were say 55' thru 65' you were a little late getting to the party. Why I bring this up is that we will never go back to the "good old days" anymore than the people in 1870 Painesville could ask that. We all evolve, people as well as communities. You can wish all you want but time goes on. Many of us would not recognize the Painesville of 2114, well maybe except for  the bad roads? Things are changing very fast right in front of our eyes. Heck my Painesville of 1960. PCLS only had ONE bus and one bus driver Mr. Russell.

Maybe this letter should have not come up in front of Painesville council but it did.

Now I am asking you if the resolution will pass. NOT if you want it to pass or fail  but what you believe the vote will be FOR or AGAINST? So you can be against the resolution and still see it passing.

TERM, you say these people were asked to come here. You are wrong. The ones here illegally were not asked to come here. They broke the law to come here. We are talking only about the illegal immigration issue. Not about the ones that did it the right way one one of the several types of work visas.

It's funny that Ms. Dinallo says she was asked by HOLA to attend their meeting and get information. Well, she was asked by another group anti illegal group to attend a meeting to get information and she refused. What say to that, Ms. Dinallo?

TERM, I find it funny to hear you say you wish there was more tolerance for other people's views. You, the man with no tolerance for views other than his own. You, the man who spews forth your misinformation by the bucket. This would be a comic act if it weren't for the fact that people actually believe what comes out of your mouth.

If Mrs. DiNallo persists in this, I, for one, will make sure the issue follows her the entire rest of her political career, and that goes for anyone who helps her. She needs to be doing what the CITIZENS want her to do, and not what the citizens OF OTHER COUNTRIES IN THIS COUNTRY ILLEGALLY want her to do.

It has been pointed out to you many times how easy it will be to get them out. E-Verify. If they cannot work, they will leave; and yes, they do know the way out. They got in, and they can turn around and go HOME. But first the government needs to enforce the ag-worker program, or make a new one, so the farmers are covered, and they need to get on that quickly. THAT would be a good project for Mrs. DiNallo; she could petition the government to get on that right away.

And yes, Mrs. DiNallo, the children who are born here since the 14th amendment was restated are surely almost all dual-citizens. That is why women fly here, drive here, crawl across the border to get here to give birth -- so their children can be automatic citizens of the United States, and therefore, have dual citizenship.

Very few other countries are this stupid, and we are losing America because of this. This is the main draw, I think, before even the jobs -- they come to steal our country, and having an anchor baby, or ten, will get them closer to that goal. Plus, it's all free here. Have more children than you can afford, work under the table so you can get free food, health care, etc. What's not to love about America? USA Today had an article recently that said "U.S. officials are quietly taking steps to stem the flow of pregnant Chinese tourists coming to the Northern Marianas islands, a U.S. Pacific territory, to give birth." This is going on throughout American, but it is only there that they are acting. This is insanity, and if Mrs. DiNallo wants to do something for American, she can petition for this country-losing 14th Amendment to be changed back to what it used to be. It was created originally to protect the children of the freed slaves. What other countries are stupid enough to give citizenship to children born in the country of non-citizens? Not Mexico, I can assure you.

They can get out on the same roads they came in. Would YOU go to another country, and then not know your way home? I mean, don't be stupid. And Mrs. DiNallo can go with them and help them in their own countries, if she is so worried about the citizens of other countries as she sits on the City Council of Painesville, Ohio, USA.

6:07 Many businesses wanted the Hispanics to come here and
Keep labor cheap as well as do jobs many Americans would not apply for. Look along with a KEEP OUT signs was a HELP WANTED one.
6:11 Tell me about this misinformation? Also I believe I only attack when attacked?
6:12 I don't even know where to start? First isit the illegals responsibility to do E-verify? Why aren't the employers held to a law.
Change the Constitution? Good luck with that one.
On a final note this letter Mrs. DiNallo wants to send I don't believe helps her with the party she is in?
I think most Americans want to see some resolution to this issue, it needs to come to an end.
6:12 If I was a Mexican I would tell you my family and I will starve before you only want me here to work in your fields so you can have cheap food. Don't want them here but don't mind exploting them?

Look back in history. There have also been special guest worker programs when the US needed them, and then when the jobs were done, they were sent home. Nobody is forced to come and work in the fields. If they don't want to come, they don't have to. It's a job. Take it or leave it. And we only need them in the fields, not anywhere else. We are also needing less and less field workers because of the automation now. So for the ones who don't want to come, nobody is forcing them. We need labor for the fields, and it's just that simple. The government has to be watching with legal programs to make sure they are treated and paid fairly, and then take it or leave it. People from America who go to other countries for oil jobs, or teaching jobs, or whatever, do not expect to be citizens because of it. When their job ends, or they want to end it, they go home to their own country. And no American citizen would be marching on a foreign government demanding citizenship and rights because they came to work there.

So Term, you have said repeatedly that you would have come here yourself if you lived in Mexico to better your family, meaning you would have come illegally. Now you say that you would not come if you were them and could come legally to work in the fields if you could not get citizenship. It doesn't surprise me that that is what your moral code is, but really, you'd come illegally to work for the money, but you would not come legally. Nice. Then we wouldn't need YOU here either, would we? You'd be just the person we would not want in this country.

This is 6:12. Nowhere did I say it was the illegals duty to do E-Verify.

Victoria Dahlberg is not a resident of Painesville, so I find it odd that Mrs Dinallo would pen a letter with a nonresident.

I believe what you say is true. If e-verification was used, how many illegals do you think would not return to Mexico, and stay here and live on welfare?

I especially agree with you how just totally stupid we are to allow this to happen & continue to happen. Our leaders think that they know better than us, that we need these people.

I don't hate these people. I actually like them. But the political class....well I'll bite my tongue.

Even though I spoke personally with council members, expressed my want for them NOT to go ahead with it. Reading here, there are so many people that have also spoke against it. I believe it will pass for the simple reason council has absolutly NO backbone to say no. I hope I am wrong and I won't mind eating my words if I am.

8:42 Yes I would probably come and pick your tomatoes for you, nothing like being used by another culture is there? I guess if I'm only good enough to do the tasks you won't do it then makes sense I have no right to believe I could become one of you?
12:39 Not odd at all. then again most people not wanting the letter sent are not Painesville residents either?
8:52 So who isn't doing it and why?
1:20 Thank you for answering the question.

Just an FYI Americans are pickers are working alongside Hispanics. Hispanics are pretty ruthless in the field. God help your child if he or she is picking with you and gets away from your watchful eye. there are Americans who want these jobs..... Be careful about stereo typing. I also know pretty stand Hispanics. Door swings both ways.

4:39 So Americans are wanting these jobs? Well 8:34 See no problem we don't need guest worker's. I would be great pay the American's $10.10 an hour and problem solved. TIC

Term's 2:46 reply to 8:42. Yes, you COULD apply for legal entry to become a citizen, and get in line like everybody else. But coming to work a job for a limited amount of time certainly should not entitle someone to citizenship. Again, would YOU expect to be made a citizen in a country where you went to work? It's a job. They can either apply to come - or not. It would be entirely up to them, as it is now, by the way. There is no forced labor.

Term's 2:46 reply to 12:39. What DiNallo does with that letter has to do with the entire United States of America and every citizen in it. What they have done already to this city is not staying in this city, nor will it. I had a Painesville resident tell me that she was moving to Euclid because of all the illegal Mexicans here. I asked her what made her think that it would stop at the borders of Painesville, and that it was happening all across the US. I told her that it was coming to a neighborhood near her real soon, and she would be better off to stay here and fight. (She left.)

Yes, I think DiNallo and the rest of council will send the letter. Since when have they cared about what the legal citizens of Painesville want, whether it's welcoming illegals from all across the world into our town with outstretched arms, or bad deals for electricity. Never have cared, and obviously don't care now. If she doesn't send the letter it will only be because she decided she was better off politically to not send it than to send it. I believe it will be a tough decision for her, because she will have to guess what is better for her politically. I do not believe the decision will have anything at all to do with what the legal citizens of Painesville want.

Term 4:48: What does TIC mean?

4:39: I think there is a PBS, or some other program coming out showing the prevalence of assault and rape in the fields with the Mexicans. I know that when they are crossing illegally, they even have things called "rape trees" where they hang the under clothing of women who were raped by their own. Can you expound on what is the ratio do you think of Americans that want to work in the fields and what you mean by saying the Hispanics are pretty ruthless in the field, and what could actually happen to your children if they wander away from you?

P.S. You can give them all YOUR stuff, Term. That would be okay with everyone, I think. It's a job. If they don't want to come, they don't come.

Term 2:46 answer to 12:39. I believe 12:39 is exactly correct, and you are wrong. Why would Mrs. DiNallo be teaming up with a citizen of another city to supposedly speak for the citizens of Painesville when she is ON THE CITY COUNCIL OF PAINESVILLE, OHIO to serve the residents of PAINESVILLE, OHIO, and NOT citizens of other cities, and certainly not citizens of other COUNTRIES.

Nothing to do with this conversation, but Painesville city schools dodged a bullet. http://www.news-herald.com/general-news/20140301/richmond-heights-schools-superintendent-arrested-accused-of-bribery-theft
This is who our board selected. The only reason we dodged the bullet is because he turned us down. This is who we picked over Mr. McWreath????? What ididots.

I believe The letter will pass and be sent to Congress. Deleone seems to be the only one dead set against the letter. I believe he said we shouldn't send the letter because Congress will address this issue in April. That's BS! Our do nothing Congress will do what they do best, NOTHING! The Immigration System is broken. The status quo is not working! Our letter probably won't mean squat, but at least we're on record requesting the Congress to fix the problem.

5:53 No it's not easy or safe getting here, lately younger people have been crossing on their own.

TIC was private answer to a reader.
9:25 Wouldn't be the first time.
I do question the news surveys that claim the majority of American want them to become legal?

After 18 hours without power I'm wondering what the impact will be on this letter. I believe it goes to a vote tomorrow night and will be pretty far down the list. I'm thinking it has a pretty good chance of passing.

Also wondering if anybody caught 60 minutes tonight. Some of discussion on this blog hit a little close to home.
