"SOMETHINGS BURNING" kenny rodgers & the first edition

I attended the levies meeting at Heritage Middle School Monday evening five other souls plus myself were in attendance.

I will list the items that both the fire and police departments intend to do with the levy money.

Than I went to the Board of election website and read the ballot items.

PROPOSED FIRE TAX LEVY
(ADDITIONAL)
PAINESVILLE CITY
A majority affirmative vote is necessary for passage

An additional tax for the benefit of Painesville City for the purpose of providing and maintaining fire apparatus, appliances, buildings, or sites therefor, or sources of water supply and materials therefor, or the establishment and maintenance of lines of fire alarm telegraph, or the purchase of ambulance equipment, or the provision of ambulance, paramedic, or other emergency medical services operated by afire department at a rate not exceeding 1.47 mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to 14.7 cents for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for five years, commencing in 2013, first due in calendar year 2014.

__ FOR THE TAX LEVY
__AGAINST THE TAX LEVY

Now I made Bold what I don't quite understand? The only mention of a build improvement was a new ventilation system for the fire station. Does anyone understand or sites therefor? Is that something new that hasn't been explained? ( Like another fire station?) There was no mention of hiring a new paramedic?  At the presentation.
or sources of water supply and materials therefor? What does this mean?

Look maybe when you hold your next levy meeting you will take the ballot with you and then explain it line by line. You wrote now please explain it?

Why should they have to spend time explaining every little word to the likes of you? Didn't your wonderful education, courtesy of Painesville Schools teach you how to read and evaluate? Obviously not. The wording of those levies is quite specific and clear.

6:08 If you haven't noticed they have spent time explaining things to me. I wasn't aware I couldn't ask questions?
Instead of bringing up Painesville Schools maybe you could have just answered the question? I don't believe it's that clear. Sounds like a lawyer wrote it.
Take three minutes and explain it?

6:08 must be a genius. I am reasonably intelligent and I sure don't understand it. I would love to hear him/her tell us what it means.

1:12 Another Harvey grad?
6:08 isn't a genius they don't want the subject brought up.

It doesn't say they're hiring a paramedic - it says they're purchasing equipment RELATED to that service. As for the rest - there's never been a mention of a new fire house and there won't be any time soon. They've been transparent with these levies, why do you ahve to be such a conspiracy nut?

Term,
You notice that more than 24 hours have passed and Mr/Ms 6:08 hasn't enlightened us with what the language on the ballot means?
Maybe he/she doesn't know or doesn't want to be proven wrong?

12:45 That levy says alot and doesn't say anything. Look there are comas before and after the word Paramedic. Why? It can mean anything. The whole levy can mean anything you want it to.
I'm a conspiracy nut? Well where do we start. The hospital leaving, back and forth with the hotel, CORE bill, what to do with the hospital site, paying someone over 2 million dollars for nothing, now paying almost 3 times the price for electric power, downtown streetscape promised not delivered, where do you want me to stop there are many more? The only reason you can call me a conspiracy nut is the only other answer is that there were fools at the controls? Which is it?

I can add a few more questions where are those windmills promised years ago. When will the electric sub-station go on line or is there a problem. What about the money we lost over 15 years ago on a stupid finance deal. Who or what inpowered the city to get involved in the Milstone deal, what did Painesville get from that deal?
We honored a city manager that in all honesty should have been run out of town!

First off, you stated you attended PC schools in a previous comment.
Second, you are the one who slams others when they ask a question here. Your frequent comment is "why don't you ask them yourself instead of asking it here" SO, why not ask the persons who can answer and quit grandstanding about it.
It appears you and your 5 little friends did not do your homework prior to attending this meeting, else you'd be able to answer your own questions.
Something else to think about. By increasing the taxes, maybe it would drive out those who can't pay their fair share (indigent, etc.) then we could take back our wonderful little hometown we once had years ago.

7:03 I don't slam others. If they want to know something go to the source not me. I get into enough hot water on my own without asking for more. We did our homework. Here's an example. We were all led to believe highway funds were generated by gasoline sales in our community, many on council believed this also. We were told to buy our gasoline in town. No one said a word to correct this thinking... Until Mr. Fodor came to a POC meeting with the answer from our finance director that tax revenues are dispersed bt motor vehicle registrations not gasoline sales in Painesville.
Your thoughts of increasing taxes to drive out indigent, ect. They don't pay taxes! That's the problem you only hurt working people who are maxed out. What do you think Warren Buffet is looking to move in?

Forget about a fire levy. They take the newest fire truck we have and let it sit outside since the big truck showed up? Ib two years they will tell us thatwe need a repacement for this vehicle.

Just where would you like them to put it? Maybe you'd rather the rescue squads sit out? Let the guys brush off the snow, let it warm up and shovel a path out before they come to your aid?
Like everything else around here, they bust their seams with no place to go because of the economy and inner city mentality here. How many other communities have built new stations? Madison, Concord, Township? Painesville has to put up with overcrowding and breaking up buildings, departments and offices because they are broke. This has been going on for many years, nothing new here but what a shame it can't be fixed properly.

Here's your problem you buy stuff and you have no place to keep it. Now the last I looked the "Fire Bus" was parked in the Townships Hardy Rd. Fire Station? Let it sit outside and park the Fire Technical Truck inside at their station. It makes more sense than to leave it outside at the Painesville station? You already have an EMS unit sitting outside as it is.
Is that a reasonable solution?
