"THERE'S A KIND OF A HUSH" herman hermits

I just don't get city council.

A councilman presents a letter to members and the administration about a legal issue concerning electric power, first no one seems to care, and the law director saying he will look it over, and wondered out loud if the attorney general is the right person to send it to? Send it to AMP-OHIO I am sure they will file it in the trash.

We spent 5 times as much time on Feral cats as we did the possibility of spending over two million dollars more a year on the purchase of electric power costs. I've never seen a more uninterested group  of people.
Maybe it's me?  They look at me with blank stares and must be thinking "How long will it take for Angelo to understand we don't care or give a damn."    "First AMPGS now Prairie State wonder what power problem he will make up next." "We paid  the over 2 million in stranded cost for Meigs County what else does he want?  "2 million not that much in the overall scheme of things." "First he complained about Council-President Horvaths  unauthorized letter to Senator DeWine, now he wants us to send an authorized letter to Attorney General DeWine?" Wish he would make up his mind.

Remember "PERCEPTION" is everything.

NO it's not just me  Sandy Miller, Richard Tibbits, other residents along with those two guys from Oberlin all met with the same results.

Or maybe after a certain time of avoiding this issue. They will tell us this has been ignored for to long of time!  Sorta like the deal we presently have with our city streets.

I have never seen an administration or council so proud of an electric department yet at the same time ignores all it's problems.

Yes as someone mentioned we do have a councilman who  hardly never enters into any discussions but is always first to 'second' thank anybody who shows up and will tell you what entertainment is provided for residents at the present time. Thank-you very much BUT we have people that do that . Your leadership is need to run Painesville.

Anybody have any ideas short of electric shock to get this bunch to wake up?
at least we have an empty building to store our problems in.

Well, it would appear as though you finally figured out that they don't care what we think!
I am wondering what the difference is between an authorized vs unauthorized letter? If it is sent from one governmental body to another doesn't that "authorize" it?
Didn't you know that when you move or second enough items it looks like you are really doing something and are involved!

These are not 'what I think' These are facts. Its no more we might take on water, WE are taking on water and no one seems concerned.

You must be new? Over eight years ago Council-President Horvath sent a letter to than Sen. DeWine composed by Hispanic Activist Veronica Dahlberg stating council, and residents Love our illegals and for him to do everything in the Senators power to promote legalization. It doesn't matter where you sit on this issue that letter was never presented at a council meeting. He just had it typed up on Painesville stationary and sent it to Washington D.C. The News-Herald mentioned a letter and it was all exposed. That is what I considered an unauthorized letter. Maybe Bill knew better? This bunch can't seem to do anything without the administrations approval.

2:47 I can't print that! Look if I had any part in that I wouldn't want anybody to see that meeting either.
Classic screw-up from beginning to end. You have to believe the new CM was shaking his head.
At least the minutes of the meeting won't provide residents the true picture.

Term,
That explains "authorized" vs "unauthorized".
Unauthorized occurs when someone in the City (Administration, Council, Dept Head, whatever) sends a letter that no one else knows about.
Thanx

Painesville's getting $700,000 to repair Jackson St. from NOACA this is a good sign.

6:20 that N/H article sucked me in too.
First the NOACA money is used to resurface Jackson St. from the Mentor line to the Painesville line. Last time I looked that area was in the Township. It may go all the way to the road to Nowhere but nowhere in Painesville City proper.
Our NOACA money went to drumroll Main St. Streetscape. Sorry. it gave me a lift also.

I understand our council decided to pay a Senior Center supervisor $45,000 a year where will that money come from?
Also if the steps cost us $68,000 will they cost us $340,000 over the next 5 years? Where is you answers for the $437,000 amount spent on roads since 2001? Waiting!

NH reports we bought the old abandoned hotel on Main Street for a whooping $10 from the Port Authority. I guess we needed one more project..... Supposedly we will obtain a grant to tear it down but then again (i.e. Streetscape over run) will there be enough money our will that too come up short? So many projects, so little money......... so many potholes.......

Interestingly the Port Authority actually had a plan to bring in jobs and I quote; "high paying jobs". But no clue as to what those jobs might be and if they would be filled by residents. I hate half reporting! I live here and would like to be open to all possibilities...... so much for government transparency again.

It appears the Senior Center would like the property. Once again I call into question the vision of this city. We let the Chase Bank Building go to a Chinese holding company. A key piece of real estate on the square. And check the records, it went for a lot less than it will cost to tear down the old hotel.

Now we have a key piece of property, indeed a cornerstone in the city owned by a Chinese holding company and for $10 we bought back the old Hotel and are gambling we get a $400,000 grant (tax payer money) to tear down an abandoned building. A little speculation on how this might turnout ...... anyone? Think AMP Ohio contract......

And is there any word on that old Maytag plant we were left holding the utility bill on? The rug we sweep stuff under is getting pretty lumpy.

Sandy, It would have been interesting what plans the Port Authority had for that site? Who do we know that sits on the Port Authority? Might explain last weeks breakfast?
At this point what or who can you trust? Where is the 'Transperency'
Guess those excecutive sessions can now be explained.
Hey Paul you want to chip in two bucks for this hotel?
Maybe a new cable show "Flip this Hotel" on the Comedy Channel? Its seems that building has had more owners than people that stayed there?
Than again maybe someone who once purchased the hotel for $10.00 realizes the mistake and returned the favor?

I'm thinking flip this town, why stop at the hotel?

FYI, having toured the Chase building the cost of purchasing it is just the beginning, it will require hundreds of thousands of dollar to rehab it to the point of someone utilizing it.

And do you think the company holding the title will do this or run it into the ground until it can no longer be used. Good luck with that one....
How many times can the port authority step in to Painesville buildings?

And what do "ports" have to do with buildings (or the College) anyway?
I know, they just changed the name of the Port Authority but the fact remains that they are not needed.

The PCLS sold the old HHS site to the Port Authority for a very low price. Then the Port Autority sold it to Lake Erie College for a lower price. LEC put up a couple of NO TRESSPASSING signs and 2 signs announcing multilevel Dorms in 2014. I guess thats progress but as I drove by the old Harvey site on myway to Party in the Park I noticed the grass and weeds are a foot and a half tall. We prep Rec Park so that the Storm can practice and play football but the College can't cut the grass on the most popular weekend in Pville.CA

4:59 according to city code, residential property 6 inches, vacant property 1 ft.? Have no idea behind this reasoning grass is grass. I'm pretty sure this was just an over site by the college. The plan is to build housing for students on that property. I wish they would think about putting an educational building on that site. Dorms in the mix of the current residents don't appear to be a good mix.
