It appears another hat has been thrown into the council races.
Thomas Fitzgerald co-owner with his wife of Fitzgerald Irish Bed & Breakfast across from city hall has taken out petition's to run for Painesville city council.
Tom presently serves as the chairman of the city planning commission, and after attending many meeting he runs a pretty good fair meeting. He was very fair in his handling of the Steele Mansion and I will assume he will run for the open set left by Joseph Hada. I expect support for Tom from former Hada voters.
So according to my scorecard that means Arlene Becks to run against Lori DiNallo, John Murphy to run against Thomas Fitzgerald, and James Fodor presently unopposed . ( please clue me in if I'm wrong)
All of you should remember a candidate does not have to sign the book when they take out petitions for an office so there could well be more people out there running for council.
Yes I know the word 'firth' is Scottish but it's early Sunday morning. It's in the general area of Ireland?
Which brings up a question, Will Tom still go on the European tours?

All new city council and mayor have really changed the status quo there.

Why didn't Beres of Fitzgerald run for Ward 2 when they had a chance? Hada had that spot filled already. You two are supported by the guy who's 32 years on council quality decisions can be explained in 32 seconds. Brains? How many brains do you need to do what your told? No More HADAENOUGH.

So all the street money last year went to shore up Bank St.? The cliff was eroding badly. Charlotte St.? Fodor lives on that street, so does that mean everyone who uses that street should suffer?

My apologies, I meant of the 2 new people running for council. I never meant to insult the current council members. Ms. Becks is a wonderful person, but I didn't think politics was her cup of tea. Murphy, he said after running and loosing twice he wasn't going to run anymore. Well, that makes him like most politicians - unable to believe or trust them.

A person should never stop trying, to better their community they have chosen to live. What I have said, ABE LINCOLN, ran for office several,several times, BEFORE he was elected and people found him ,to be alright. GREAT POST 6:52 calling your council rep, e mail your rep. never gets mentioned at the council meetings. This is because they keep everything to themselves. The only council person that always gives imformation about residents is Andrew Flock. This needs, to change PLEASE don,t re- elect the same ole same ole. We need fresh ideas.

TO POST 6:52 and 3:36 mr fodor, said when running for council, he wanted to give back to the community. What happened? he lead the last road levy. He lead a activity research on emergency calls. results the roads are worse, the emergency trips (calls)is 150,000 Dollars in the red. You d e c i d e should he be re-elected? However he is a smooth talker. WE ALL KNOW TALK IS cheap.
6:49 I believe this was Mr. Fodor intention. I believe no I know Mr. Fodor had no idea what a mess he was stepping into. Years of neglect and poor leadership has put us in this situation.
At council meeting his approach is for everyone not to vote the same, just to be civil to each other. Now when he is confronted with Painesville's issues he wonders why things were left to get this bad. You can see it in his face.
I guess his main issue seems to be why wasn't money put away for this or that situation? Remember Fodor didn't put EMS in the red.
Katie Jenkins is slowly finding out also this aren't always as they appear. Depending on others knowledge might be a mistake. She will support the fire and police levies but in her heart she knows someone screwed up big time. The levies are Kaput.
