"I DON'T MIND YOU COMING HERE" cars
At last night Planning Commission Heisley Park resident Raymond Sternot question the Commission on the intent of the legislation concerning buffers the city has with concerns with railroad right-of-ways as well as freeways. Mr. Sternot believed that 300 feet of flat land was not the intent of this Commission. He found out quickly he was wrong. Wetlands including frag mites even if not owned by the developer count.
Now on flat land a rail bed will rise 6 to 8 feet above the terrain. with the train another 20 feet above that. the city only calls for a four foot buffer and what purpose that would have on noise, dust
I have no idea?
But according to the city administration the "experts" ; the city engineer, as well as the city planner believe this is sufficient?
The law is vague and Ray's point was this so the developer could jam as many homes into this plat and not consider the quality of life to the future Painesville residents?
Mr. Sternots made a statement and I'm paraphasing here. "Painesville City will never be another Mentor or Painesville Township."
I believe in the future the Planning Commission will view this more carefully.
After the meeting I asked Ray which councilman made that statement? His own Ward IV councilman Paul Hach? I guess our comeback might not just be around the corner?

Mr Sternot needs to move-perhaps to Mentor or township. He should have done HIS homework before he purchased his home. Buyer Beware.
Mr. Sternot is a homeowner, not out looking for a used car?
Guess you can't depend on the city.
Just HOW MUCH homework does Mr Sternot have to do? I guess he is a much better educated homeowner than most now....basements, sump pumps, federal law on wetlands, civil engineering for sound buffers, emergency response times, just to name a few things. I have seen him speak....he sounds like a reasonable person trying to work within the system to solve some serious problems. Too bad he has to work with the bunch under the dome...leaves him with little/no recourse and a whole bunch of frustration.
5:19 according to 9:32 he hasn't done enough. The buffering issue does not affect his home in Heisley Park. Ray just wants the best for his community, the residents that live there and Painesville. Another troublemaker? Painesville needs more Ray's not fewer, and some just want people to pay their property taxes, pay your utility bill, and please sit down and shutup.
Oh, and shop downtown Painesville the perfect Stepford citizen.
Ray I believe won't go quietly into the night.
Sorry this is off topic, but can you let people know that there is a meeting on Wednesday, March 6th, at 7pm at Harvey High School for community members to meet with a consultant concerning the selection of our new superintendent. Thank you
8:20am your not off target at all. I was going to post the notice about the meeting near the end of the month. I believe there also will be a 2:00pm meeting on this topic the same day.
Mr. Sternot belongs to an association, a homeowners association. This is where they bring their concerns to the public So where are they? Why is it only one person causing a stink all the time? How many city employees live at Heisley and Cobblestone and how many have the same concerns as he?
RIGHT, as I thought. He is just one problem child among the bunch. If there were so many concerns the council meetings would be packed with others sharing the same opinion. He is just one of your possee and you like him because of his negativity.
Now I have a possee? 300 readers a day?
Ray has always turned to the city in a very amenable way. Where did it get him? The "experts" decided what a buffer was. Why have ordinances if know one understands them?
Ray is one of the most positive people when it comes to Painesville.
Again you skirted my questions and you will later deny you did such a thing. Homeowners association- when you live in one, have your meetings and pay your dues, they are the ones that a homeowner goes to and the association brings them out. Not another one man grandstanding mouthpiece who DOES NOT speak for the majority of people living here. Homeowners association-where are they at council meetings? THey aren't because only one person is causing the grief now. He is a minority we are the majority.
11:59 So if there is a Homeowners association you as a private citizen can not take an issue to council or planning or zoning? Without first approval from who? I wonder if thats in the associations by-laws?
I think in the near future many in Heisley Park will wish that someone listened to Ray more.
Hopefully those in the near future will know exactly what they are buying. Say you buy a home next to an existing race track or a church that chimes every half-hour. You live there a couple years then come forward complaining about the situation-that is your fault. You knew it was there, you knew what you were buying. It is wrong to expect everyone else to change it for you. You'd need to move. This is that entitlement that's running rampant with kids and seniors.
I didn't know that entitlement was running rampant with seniors. In what way, 5:40?
4:53 probably talking about Social Security and Medicare?
Maybe spoken by a government employee who's retirement was never used to fund the federal government?
Must be nice to retire after 30 years and than complain about what they now call entitlements?
I WANT MY SENIOR CITIZEN DISCOUNT! Thats how. Gimmie my Golden Buckeye card. What? Certain stores allow seniors to have a day with a percentage off. Heaven forbid you are one of them that do not. "Well, we wont shop here EVER". Bye Bye- I wont miss you in my shop. Go to the mall- walkers everywhere and they are rude too. All seniors if you get in their way-watch out they'll cuss you out. Just the tip of the entitlement.
8:53 I believe you have had your hand out along time. How any of this has to do with what we're talking about.
Many Senior are fine upstanding citizens?
My response was to 4:53 I never said seniors werent upstanding citizens. I've met both and which one do you think made the worse impression, they are the ones that stick in the mind longer.
Find the site on the web - don't have it now but 106 places to go for senior discounts. Restaurants, stores, etc. Gimmie, gimmie. More, more.
