"I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU" bon jovi

Tonight is the first school board meeting of the year for the Painesville City School
Board. 01/14/13.

I am curious how many citizens will be there to share their views on many school system items.

I have learned that earlier this month the school board held an "organizational meeting" at the meeting Steve Costell was elected president,  Rev.Gerald Kalb vice-president. I believe Steve will be very pro-active as school board president. I know his only goal is to improve the Painesville schools. I believe this is true for all board members. Steve wants to face issues head on.

This being said, any employee, administrator, teacher orclassified staff that has an issue with the school system  can speak with Steve and I assure you your conversation will be heard and kept in confidence. Mr. Costell is a straight shooter. Please, I don't want to hear anymore of the board doesn't get involved.

This was a positive move by the board. In the past I have found Mr. Costell to be welcoming even if he doesn't agree with you. What you tell him stays with him, and respects your views.

School Board Meeting at Harvey starts at 7:00 pm.

Also the POC  has sent a letter to the board concerning the direction the school system is taking, along with property values and people wanting to move into our town.

The investigation of a former Harvey High School administrator has been closed without any charges being filed.

Former assistant principal David Klingenberg was placed on administrative leave on Aug. 30 after the school district learned he was the subject of a police investigation since May 2011.

According to a release from superintendent Michael P. Hanlon at the time of that decision, Painesville City Police were investigating whether Klingenberg “violated the policy we have in place regarding the maintenance of proper boundaries with our students.”

According to an educator misconduct reporting form, Klingenberg engaged in inappropriate behavior with a 15-year-old student included the student visiting Klingenberg’s home “as a baby sitter and sometimes not in a baby sitter capacity,” the purchase of an iPod Touch for the student and extended meetings in Klingenberg’s office.

On Sept. 10 the school board accepted Klingenberg’s resignation.

Sgt. Toby Burgett with the Painesville City Police Department said the investigation was closed without any charges being filed.

“There just wasn’t enough evidence to bring any charges,” Burgett said.

Unless any new information comes up, the investigation will remain closed, Burgett said.

Painesville City Schools Superintendent Michael P. Hanlon said Klingenberg’s resignation was not contingent on the completion of the police investigation.

The superintendent also added there are no plans to make a recommendation to the school board about Klingenberg possibly being reinstated.

So okay, then the first school board meeting was not on 1/14/13. The first school board meeting would have been that organizational one you refer to. When was that?

Seems PCLS will possibly have another News-Herald front page story?
Seems a state audit has fould a Patricia Weindel seems to have made personal purchases through Gorden Food Service that totaled over $1400.00 dollars. alond with at total of close to $1,800.00 in missing funds.
I believe the system will recover lost funds.
The reason I mentioned Gordon Food Service what exactly did she purchase from them? If any items purchased from them did not seem to be used for a school cafeteria?
Maybe Gordon should be held complicit?
Seems as I look around the wheels are falling off?

A former Painesville City Schools employee used $1,777 of district funds from taxpayers to stock her home with food, according to the 2012 audit of the district released by state Auditor Dave Yost.

Patricia Weindel, who began working for the district as food service director in 2001, purchased $1,422 in food items from the Gordon Food Service Marketplace Store in Mentor during fiscal year 2012. Yost’s review of the purchase revealed that “the items were personal in nature and not related to district operations,” the auditor announced.

Weindel’s personnel file from the district shows that she was sent a letter notifying her of the beginning of termination proceedings on March 27, 2012. Prior to that, on March 14, Weindel had in her office cash totalling “some $607,” which was not deposited in accordance with board policy, according to her file.

Other issues cited in her file included using district funds to pay for accommodations to an out-of-state seminar that she did not have permission to attend. She later reimbursed the district, according to her file.

She submitted a handwritten letter of resignation that read “I Pati Weindel my last day will 3-30-12, I am resigning,” with ‘am’ underlined twice.

Superintendent Michael P. Hanlon said that he is glad the situation was able to be corrected with little impact on the district.

“The objective that the district set out to achieve was the end of her employment with the district based on the information provided ... and we did so with the least cost, the least risk and the least amount of time to the district,” he said of her resignation instead of termination from the district.

Yost expressed the need for administrators to keep a closer eye on their staff.

“This audit serves as a perfect example of the importance of internal controls in an organization.” Yost said in a news release. “Beefed-up supervision could have prevented these personal purchases from being made in the first place.”

Hanlon doesn’t disagree.
“I think we’re always working to improve the internal controls, I don’t disagree (with Yost) that we want to monitor all of those expenditures very carefully ... you always want to have the best possible internal controls and when this came to our attention we certainly investigated it very promptly,” Hanlon said.

Other purchases that weren’t properly recorded included those made for two district retirement parties, according to the report.

District documentation showed collections of $1,835 for the retirement parties, but Weindel only made deposits totaling $1,480.

A finding for recovery in the total amount of $1,777 was issued against Weindel, and referred to the Lake County Prosecutor.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the prosecutor’s office had not yet received the information from the state auditor, said Chuck Coulson, prosecuting attorney, however standard procedure for a finding of recovery is that the office will recover the funds.

David I fear is worried about being "primaried" before the next election. No fear you will be. A tea party member claims he is to latourest? for them. They were never even consulted by the GOP Guns over People crowd.
Congressman Joyce must remember what goes around comes around.
Can't wait to see who will run against him.
Your party fallen on hard times? Go to Williamsburg Virginia and hire the CEO of Dominio's Pizza to turn things around. Maybe in thirty minutes or less.Never cared for Dominio's or Papa Johns. Presently Bada Bing is just fine.
Really Republicans a pizza chain?
Can't wait to see there faces when they see the dough?

2:21pm, because of all the egregious pork that was added to it. If the aid was so critical, and I believe it was, then why did so many democrats demand this crap for their districts be added to it in order to get their vote?

The frustrating thing about the food service issue is that this was widely known and had been going on for years. I know several people who reported their suspicions only to fall on deaf ears. She was a member of the good ol boys club there. My question is if she committed a crime, why was she allowed to resign? Who else knew about this?

Old School this may all bring a yawn to you. First you must remember who's footing the bill for all this. The taxpayers rely on the system
If this crime was known by everyone why was it not exposed earlier?
Who are we protecting?

When they are allowed to resign they get to keep their benefits. Just doesn't make sense when she is obviously guilty because she has to repay the money. Go figure

There is a group of people who had the courage to bring this and many other issues to the forefront. The pressure forced action on this issue.. We also know why she was allowed to resign. The administration should handle this before we expose.......

Where's the outrage over Klingenberg not being charged? Maybe people realize now he really didn't do anything that was as bad as people implied. Lets ruin a guys life over some rumors. Then well bail when it turns out to be not true.

The outrage should be with the person who resigned his job,he was not fired. Why? Pension? Future? Please explain.
If anyone ruined his life it was self impossed distruction of a career by the "victim" himself.. I for one believe the people I know, and glad he's gone.

To a little bird told me. Your going to have to put a name to that accusation. If if true it should be made public.

Don't you listen, hear, read or see? The accusations against the cafeteria manager were aired numerous times on your blog. Go back to the old posts and see. IT WAS exposed to Jefferson St and here. What more is a person to do when certain people keep their head in the sand and deny while we as taxpayers know and demanded answers yet get None. As for the persons comment about free lunch, in past, the lunchrooms sold snacks to the kids. Chips, ice cream, cookies, etc. That is where some of the money was allegedly taken from also. Those poor kids who can't afford breakfast and lunch sure had loads of cash to buy a lot of cookies. Many of the same kids bought stacks of cookies and bags of chips every day.
My point is there was a lot of uncontrolled cash floating around and someone needs to tighten the free lunch program cuz I'm tired of footin' the bill for everyone.

Little birdie was referring to something different. However, little birdie has some info regarding the cafeteria as well.

Ray Lewis may be the new "Dirty Bird" but Hanlon is absolutely the original "Dirty Bird".....used a football analogy there.
