"KING OF THE ROAD" roger miller
Recently on an extended trip to Beirut I took these photographs of what the locals in that area had to endure to get around their town and to their homes....... Just kidding this is not Siberia or the Yukon Territory this is Oak Street in the City of Painesville.
Residents who live on this street have caused extensive damage to their vehicles as well as people being forced to drive in front yards to avoid driving on the road. Street…. I‘m using that term loosely here. Now I'm willing to bet the residents on Oak Street would like a concrete street with curbs and sidewalks but would be perfectly happy with a road that any half-a#%'ed Township could provide for a country road. This is YOUR city people. If the people down at the "Golden Dome" think this much of the residents on Oak Street what makes you believe they care any more about your street?
This situation on Oak Street has been going on way too long. The solution? We will probably do another study and someone will come up with an idea of a Road Levy. Before we even talk about a "Road Levy" can we at least think about all the waste that comes from City Hall? How much more will people put up with? I would really like to know.
The mailman wonders too…neither snow, sleet, hail, nor dark of night or a big slush-filled hole in the road keeps him from his appointed rounds!

Bet those folks pay taxes too. Any of them ever appear at a council meeting?
BOO, HOO, HOO
who's ward is that in?
It's in Ward 1. Andy Flocks ward. Andy has gone in front of council numerous times about Oak St.[ check council minutes] and as you know nothing happens unless you get four councilpeople to agree. Where was Joe, Jim, Lori, and Paul? I guess they were unaware of this situation or just didn't care?
taylor street is also a mess its more or less one lane only and almost imposssible for two cars to pass in opposite directions without going into someones yard, especially bad when you have to pass a bus or garbage truck
This city is a hoot! Tri-axle dump truck parked in a driveway on Trailwood across from the JaHada's house! Welcome to the neighborhood B.J. and the Bear.
11:10 BOO HOO HOO! I wish no bad will on anyone. You sir might change my mind. What if this was your street? I can't believe the council, as well as the city manager can sleep at night.
The people in Painesville remind me of sheep. Bah bah bah and do what there told
So what if it is my street? I knew when I bought a home there what it was like. I see the sign tha CLEARLY states the road is an unimproved road. Deal with it and get over it. Mr. Flock never wants additional monies from the citizens so how can the city keep up without raising taxes or a levy. The well is running dry without new money.
Anybody know whether or not Oak Street has actually been dedicated to public use as a street? If it hasn't, that might explain why the City doesn't maintain it. If it HAS, then shame on Painesville for not taking care of it.
It is a dedicated street.
Yes it has for over 50 years. Wonder what being able to drive to your house will end up costing?
A friend of mine lives on Fobes Street. The little deadend street where WPVL was located. He told me that several times there were trains stopped at the Fobes Street Crossing and that the EMS and PFD had to accesss Fobes by way of Elm. This is a serious safety concern for many residents.
This Saturday at the Morse Ave. Community Center the administration will present the 2012 budget to council? Anyone want to bet Oak St. won't be mentioned?
These pictures are disgusting.
America the powerful and great... ha.. what a joke.
That sign was put up there more recently as a CYA by city hall. I say get the NO MONEY signs out.. Got NO MONEY! Remember this is a feudal system and if you reside outside the castle gate you do have to fend for yourself. I say Oak Street residents should defect cede back to the township, might actually get some cold patch on those holes then.
Hada of Joe, how many years has he been on council? about as many as that pot hole has been forming on Oak Street.
