"RIGHT HERE WAITING' richard marx
I have given some thought to the makeup of this coming year’s Painesville City Council.
Yes, last Monday was the final meeting for both Robert Fountain and Hal Werner. I thought Council-President Hada had nice things to say about both of them. I did notice Mr. Hada's comments on Hal Werner were "off the cuff" and a prepared statement was read about Mr. Fountain. Maybe I read too much into that. Well it is that time of year to let bygones be bygones and good will towards men. Right?
Which brings me to next year’s council? I once asked Councilman Flock if at any time he has ever held the position of Council-President or Council Vice-President. He mentioned to me he never has. I found it curious that he has spent sixteen years on council and never given that honor by fellow council members. I told Andrew he was the ‘Susan Lucci’ of city council.
At this point in time, I do not even know if Andy would accept either position… but I guess just the fact that he has never been asked says a lot about the present organization of council.
It also might not be a good idea since Mr. Flock has stated publicly he has lost confidence in the present city manager. In addition to the constant arguing with the present council-president, it just might not be a good fit.
One thing I have always noticed about Andy is the fact that "All" city residents come first. If its safety concerns at Cobblestone or flooding somewhere in the city Andy always seems to be the "go to guy."
A resident mentioned that they asked the city manager to approve another Columbarium at Riverside Cemetery since no space is presently available. Who did she then approach to see if council could approve this?
Mr. Flock is far from perfect, as many of you have let us know here on the blog, but is there another council member that cares as much about you and other residents in Painesville as he does?

I know Mr. Fountain.I know he is ill. That alone is not an excuse to receive a check for not doing his job. An honorable person would have resigned his position . Did he need that $600 that badly?
Sorry Joe I'm not buying this.
Term, Yes we know you like Flock. Just wondering about his lack of votes this last election. They say love is blind.
Andy fluck, can you just see how long a meeting would take, if he was at the top, he would let Term talk for 3 hours, not 3 min.
Do any of you think Flock would have beeen excused as many times as Fountain was? Really this was a disgrace.
Hey 11:54am is that a race thing
No, please don't even bring in a race card 5:14...that's a 'let's hang onto a sure vote thing'. Hada would excuse anyone as long as he knew he could count on their vote.
Fountain was even too sick to run for the last election that he won. Hada and his buddies did it for him, didn't they? Anything for the four-vote bloc, right Hada? Well, it worked...and you've STILL got it...so who is the stupid one...Hada or us. I think it's us. Painesville citizenry keeps voting for Hada's people, then wondering why nothing is changing. And now McMahon (city manager) has another two years at her job sewn up. Congratulations, Painesville, you've done it again.
7:31 PM said, "And now McMahon (city manager)has another two years" she has a lot more then two years, she is a great city manager and she will be in there for a long time.
Andy will wait for alongggg time!
Got my latest Painesville Pride today, Yes theres Katie, Mike, Paul but guess who didn't get a picture or even a mention? This Term is the culture of council. Now at the next meeting Paulie will be nominated by Joey for Prez. Why not he and Paul are the only ones left on council with the 2 million + hanging over their heads.
Atleast we now will all be able to watch Paul watch the clock.
Thanks for the laugh, 1:37. For a minute I thought you were serious. We can all use a little levity in these trying times...especially in Painesville where we are once again stuck with Rita McMahon as our city manager. Maybe next time you could make a joke about how badly we need investigations into what has gone on in this city since she came to town - and in doing so, you could provide us with a little MORE levity.
Andy ah, did not run, he just sat there on his fat ah and did not one thing, he did not want his picture in there anway.
Hey Term, I like how you post bad things about your pal Andy,
Like 4:38 on the 27 said "Andy Fluck" or does it mean Andy F---
or
Like 11:24 on the 31st said
"Andy ah" or does that mean
Andy A-- H--- ?
and he said "he sat on his fat ah"
or does that mean fat A-- H--- ?
?????????
What a pal you are.
Andy and I just laugh.
At all the anonymous goofs on here.
I live in Flock's ward and I, for one, do not think his lack of work for me and my neighborhood is funny at all.
Hey, I can understand people's frustration with Mr. Flock. He speaks slowly, he looks frustrated and aggravated as he speaks during council meetings and overall doesn't seem to promote legislation.
But I ask the 'haters'
Do you want more legislation? More of the government entering your personal lives? What would you do up there if you were trying to act consciously? Thinking for yourself while the the majority, typically simply rubber stamps and plays with the roberts rules, just to go along to get along.
Seriously, what would YOU do in that same situation?
I agree with the [haters'] to a point, but then I stop at the personal attack upon him and think about the situation at hand.
The city has a 'shitty rated school system'
The city has 50% rental property.
The city has high 'illegal population'
The city has decaying infrastructure (water lines, sewer lines)
The city has roads that make Bosnia look like future world. (leaking bridge on N state)
The city has the highest per capita low income housing in Lake County.. not that that is a bad thing.. but it does assist in the perception of the community
The city lost a hospital.... (do I need to elaborate on this?)
The city does NOT have a grocery store.
Oak street looks like something from North Korea.
Remember that restaurant.. Georges? Yeah I know.. it is in the township.. but just consider that.. nothing has taken its place...
There is not a whole lot going on in this town... outside of the hardware store and Nemeths and some fast food joints...
that is it , that is all p ville's got...
since the 9 0's....
so.. think about that next time you want to slam ole' mr flock.. he is just one of 7...
how many up there.. on that council.. consistently think for themselves??
If my memory serves me correctly, Mr. Flock did not/does not want to be council president. Is this correct Term?
Perhaps you would check into this for us. I do not remember the exact time or reason that he gave, kindly ask him to let us know and refresh my memory.
The only problem with Mr. Flock is that he cares more about the people and the general welfare of the City of Painesville then being in the inner circle of Painesville.
Andy seems the only one that seems to act consciously at all times.
6:34 this is 9:53. I didn't say that I preferred the alternative. I think McMahon, Hada, and all the followers except Flock up there are scary and need to go. I said Flock does nothing for my neighborhood which is his Ward. And he never has in the twenty or so years he has been on council. I was commenting on Term's statement that he and Flock think the comments on here about Flock are funny. Not so funny when you live in his ward.
He's better than the alternative is all I could say, and that ain't sayin' much.
1:00 pm My point is what someone says about you anonymously should be taken with a grain of salt.
Andy on the other hand has put his name on the record.
