"RAINDROPS KEEP FALLING ON " b.j. thomas

I was among many others that attended Andy Flock's Town Hall Meeting Thursday night. The topic of the night was flooding in Painesville…..basements, patios back, and front yards.

Mr. Flock informed us that he invited the city engineer to attend the meeting but was refused because he didn't want to "get beat up by the residents" and Thursday after work, it was home to Rocky River. Seems like everyone goes home to so many other places.

At the council meeting, the City Manager mentioned we had 1.5 inches of rainfall in a short time. Yes, she is right.

My problem is that a house that has 6 inches of water in the basement is only 200 feet from a house that is bone dry.

At one time, I felt the north-end residents had won the lottery with the retention basin on the old Huntington property. Now at last night's meeting we hear about homes that never used to have water are now getting water. I believe the city failed to have this basin live up to what was expected.

Some residents have been told by council members that maybe they shouldn't have family rooms in their basements. O.K., does that mean we should not have washers, dryers, hot water heaters, furnaces, freezers, or air conditioners either? They all cost money to replace. Apparently, the only purpose of a basement is to act as a temporary retention pond for the storm water.

We are tired of city studies, B.S. and Beavers. When Mr. Flock meets with the city manager, and city engineer next Wednesday he needs some letters and emails from residents that the present status quo just isn't cutting it.

Email Andy at aflock@oh.rr.com

Or drop him a note this weekend to Councilman Flock 871 Hine Ave. Painesville, Ohio 44077. Anyone from Hayer, North, Cedarbrook, State, St. Meriden Ave. Let the City Manager know enough is enough.

The City Manager claimed at one of the Cedarbrook water meetings that the storm water at Brentwood runs west toward RT.44 sorry I see two drains that run into Tiber Creek.
Are we purposely being mislead or just being lied to?
This administration will tell us anything except we will fix this.

I took a walk on north avenue today most of the drains are covered with straw and the treelawns look awful, did the city pay somebody to do the treelawns? I would ask for my money back or for them to be redone, I dont see how the residents could mow the treelawns as they are all dirt and weeds, what a mess, if I lived on that street, which I don't, I would be calling the city everyday to fix the treelawns and to clear those drains, what a disgrace

to post 6:09----- This is another example of the current city council NOT DOING their job. ANDY FLOCK cannot do it by himself on council. HE NEEDS SUPPORT TO MAKE THE CITY BETTER. we need new council members in WARD 2- 3 - 4 and then things will get better in the city.

4 years ago we elected a "new councilman" in Ward 4 and things got worst not better. I miss "Wild Bill"

I'll disagree that things got worse. Your "Wild Bill" wasn't perfect either. If Werner would have wrote a letter like he did council would have hung him.

Term, I live in Ward 2. Trust me things have gotten worst, not better since Hal became our Councilman. We're not looking for perfect, just a person we can have a conversation with.

Please try to hang in there, 6:21. At least Hal is not for the illegals, and he is not always a rubber stamp for McMahon, Hada, etc. Hopefully after this election, things will start changing in general. Then maybe in the next election, someone besides Hal and Jenkins will be running, and you can make a move to a new councilperson then. Please don't vote for Jenkins. I think she is for the illegals, and in with Hada, etc.

The powers to be are weary of Jenkins because of her association with the POC. To me that shows a sign of independence. I like that. Term tells us that Hal Werner voted with the current majority 99% of the time. Hal has become the rubber stamp! I'm not willing to wait 4 more years. I"ll vote for Katie Jenkins in November.

Jenkins has my vote, too. We need a change, someone who will actually stand up for what they believe. I've known Katie since she was little (I'm a neighbor) and she's smart, motivated and an independent-thinker. I've been quietly following the comments made about Katie and have to speak up. During a recent conversation I asked her about her stance on illegals. She is NOT for illegals. How anyone could ever have this idea is beyond me.

I believe Katie is a mole for the administration. Stay close to the POC to be able to report back on their activities.

5:10: If Jenkins gets in, I think we will live to regret your vote. I think she is FOR illegals and WITH Hada, etc.

"a mole for the administration" OMG I just love this Blog.

5:03 Isn't it wild? When the meeting is open to everyone they could send anyone or come themselves nothing would change. Ask Mr. Fodor.
Maybe we should have an "Executive Session" I'll pass the idea on to Allen... no names plesae!
Maybe this is a movie idea for Oliver Stone?

A mole? That may be the most amazing thing I've heard yet. Everyone is welcome to the POC meetings, and considering the meeting minutes are posted in a public forum (http://painesvilleoversight.wordpress.com/) I find this statement incredibly ridiculous.

Several council members have attended these meetings. There are no hidden agendas. Term can attest to the fact that I have no qualms in voicing my opinion if it is contrary to someone else's in the group.

And I'm not in Hada's pocket. However, I'm pretty sure anyone who says I am will never believe ne. That is their choice. I know who I am, and I only hope that there are enough residents in Ward 2 that will upport me and bring me success in my endeavor to do something positive for Painesville.

As always, I am available at any time and welcome conversation from anyone who is interested in talking.

So, no matter what Mrs. Jenkins does, she's guilty by association? According to some of you it can't just be that she wants to hear all sides, that she wants to be aware of the views of many people, not just the views of a few. The only way this is possible is for her to rub elbows with everyone, whether or not you agree with their positions. I doubt that you've ever even spoken with her, but you seem to have her all figured out. A mole? You've been watching too many spy movies!
