WHO ARE YOU' the who

As some of you may have read the demolition of Lake East started yesterday with the parking lots. Now some questions you didn't read in the paper. One, the young man that is the project coordinator, who is he? He is the son of former Congressman Dennis Eckhart now how did he acquire this position and what are his qualifications? No one spelled them out. I wonder if there was an unemployed person in Painesville or even Lake County that could have also met the requirements? Plus assistant city manager Doug Lewis along with Burges & Niple are coordinators? The contractor who is it? Why weren't they represented at this meeting? Did anyone catch a name? 2 million dollars of State of Ohio money and the people in this town stimulate Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania's economy. Why? "The easy way"
It's Ohio taxpayer money you think they could have found a suitable Ohio contractor. Along with this one not even attending this meeting? I guess I should have figured it out considering we had an out of state contractor demolish Gristmill.
This project if I remember was to start in July, was it the city, state or contractor that waited until now to start the work?
The rubble is to be removed using North or South State St.[ pay attention Hal] even if its sent north to Rt.2? Why would you send the truck north down State St. to Chester St. then west to get back onto Richmond St. to get on the ramp. Someone doesn't want to see trucks go by the Golden Dome I guess, Richmond St. is also a state route.
I am glad Councilman Flock brought up operation hours, for some reason the city overlooked giving this in there presentation.
I am also sure Mrs. Lee will keep the city informed of all noise and debris issues. I also noticed that Dr. Shinns office building is not part of this project? I wonder how that will work out?
By next spring all will be gone as planned, then Mr. Zaremba can work his magic in 2012 at the earliest.

Something tells me this project is in for some union problems from the get go.

With Rita and Joe running the town we should call this place The Big Easy!
What are they thinking taking our money and spending it out of state? Wonder if the state representatives know this.
With so many needing jobs why go out of town with the jobs,
Is Mr. Eckart son the young man in the video? Tryed to figure out who he was.

Speaking of city officals. Will someone tell Doug Nagy his comment about "Here we go again" when someone asked about illegals at the Meet the Candidates at Hellrigels last week. Your voice was not needed in that tone.

Interesting ties to political figures from adjacent county and money going to an out of state company. Could secrecy have anything to do with upcoming election? Wonder how much Painesville will give up in the demolition and then in the so called reconstruction?

Term, you need to sometimes read and listen to what other people say instead of just yourself.

I don't remember any stipulation that the money was to be spend on an Ohio company. There is x dollars, who will bid that or less, period. The best bid gets the job. Just because they are from PA doesn't mean local construction workers won't get hired. Most large companies only send a manager or 2 and hire the rest of the crew locally, So, quit making this look like it is some kind of giant screw up by the city.

The City Manager explained to a newspaper reporter exactly why it got delayed (state paperwork) and that once it is demolished we can expect another delay from the state to certify it as "clean". I know you read the paper, did you forget reading this or just conveniently left it out so you could make it sound like another conspiracy?

It has been explained many times over the years (yes that is the years that you showed no interest in this city) that North State is used for trucks because it is a state highway and was built to handle the extra weight of trucks hauling stuff. It was also used for the Harvey demo, where were you on that one?

And, you can quit playing up Flock like a savior, operation hours are covered in various city regulations that control noise, dust, etc.anyhow and contractors are required to follow them.

Please, why do we need three managers? Who pays them? The trucks never went down State St. to Chester to get onto RT.2. during the Harvey project they went down Richmond St. [I got behind a few going home] Richmond St is a State Rt.is also a state route.Playing up to Flock? Which two councilmen didn't attend the meeting? One clue, they both live in ward 3. [They will attend the photo op]
I believe they didn't look hard enough for an Ohio contractor.
The CM should never have stated the project would start in Julyif she didn't know. While we're on the subject of time lines, where is the cities promised urgent care center? More delays? Delay, paying your utility bill and watch what happens.

Just a little info on Eddy Eckart.

Eddy Eckart, of Bratenahl, Ohio, is a graduate of Kenyon College and the “kitchen table” school of politics. He is a veteran of two presidential campaigns, a US Senate campaign, and multiple state issue campaigns, including the Clean Ohio renewal where he served as the grassroots coordinator for the northern half of Ohio, yielding a win in every county. Most recently, he served as a Northeast Ohio coordinator for Issue 3, the legalization of casino gaming in Ohio.

Eddy also has experience in real estate management and development, having worked for Minshall Development Company in the Galleria and Tower at Erieview from 2003-2008.

Having worked to build relationships at several levels of government, development, labor, and business, Eddy offers a broad-based perspective on how to achieve the goals of his clients.

Eddy recently completed a 32-mile Appalachian Trail hike that is rated the 6th hardest hike in the U.S. The effort was part of Eddy’s training for a triathlon later this summer.

Hmmmm........ Have to wonder why Ms. McMahon never mentioned any of this during her presentation. Who's paying him, how much and where is the money coming from?

A better question is to the fact why is North Shore Associates involved in this project, along with at what cost? Thats where you plagerizeed Eddy's bio?

Who is the contractor? They seem to be unknown.
Also what makes Eddy an expert in this field? The clean Ohio renewal? What does he know about bring down a building of this size.

It is not plagiarism when you are provided with the source.
In this case, the source was given directly after the info.

I have to agree with 11:39 they did give the source. Now maybe they can tell us how Northshore Associates are involved in this. I remember the senior Eckart at the council meeting and leaving right after council voted to accept the state money.

A little more info from the North Shore Associates site:

City of Painesville: Dramatic New Opportunities

The City of Painesville, Ohio, the County Seat of Lake County and a town of 17,000 is in the midst of the most dramatic makeover of almost any community in Northeast Ohio. North Shore Associates first worked with the City in a comprehensive planning exercise for its downtown to accommodate the redevelopment of approximately 8 acres of developable land with the demolition of the old Lake East Hospital.

In addition to helping manage the Citywide planning process and assisting the city in identifying and finding a developer for the soon to be vacant property, North Shore also helped direct the City’s efforts leading to their successful award from the Ohio Department of Development of a Clean Ohio CORF Grant of over $2million to clean up the site.

North Shore is now serving as owner’s representative to the city in the complex next steps of actual demolition, implementation of the development agreement and community information updates.

So, the part about being a participant in formulating this Painesville Downtown Master Plan – I guess they did do this out of the goodness of their hearts.

But the part about being the project coordinator for the demolition of Lake East, that part, they will be paid for.

You give a little -- then you get a little.
