"WE DON'T CARE ANYMORE" phil collins

I wish all of you a fun safe 4th of July.

Now the post, what is wrong with President Obama? Gives a speech Thursday on immigration yet never mentions illegal? We are a nation of immigrants. Yes we are, but at the same time the federal government had and enforced rules concerning immigration along with securing the borders. Something we haven't done for over 20 years now we want to give a pass again up to 20 million illegals who broke the law.
Call your Senators and Congressmen and tell them to relay to this administration that the American people DO NOT want to see a lawsuit against Arizona by the Federal government.
Now on top of all this Obama appoints a Police Chief of a Sanctuary city as head of ICE?
Enjoy your Hot Dogs, Fireworks, Parades and singing Lee Greenwoods song but take the time to read this article.

STEIN: Obama aims pro-illegal lawsuit at Arizona
Federal leviathan will use tax dollars to intimidate states
By Dan Stein

The Obama administration has announced that it intends to sue Arizona over its new law that will allow the state to assist in the enforcement of federal immigration laws. The stated goal of the lawsuit is to block implementation of the popular Arizona law before it takes effect on July 29. The unstated - but perhaps more important - objective of the administration is to intimidate other states where similar legislation is being considered.

The Obama administration's position on immigration policy is clear. The administration's goal is a sweeping amnesty for millions of illegal aliens and the virtual dismantling of all meaningful immigration-related enforcement. Not only is immigration enforcement not a priority for the current administration, but it is a threat to their overall political strategy that must be attacked aggressively.

A lawsuit brought by the U.S. Department of Justice is no idle threat. This administration is working in concert with amnesty advocates such as the American Civil Liberties Union to try to make Arizona's defense as burdensome and costly as possible. Even if Arizona ultimately prevails - as many legal scholars believe the state will - victory is unlikely to come swiftly or cheaply.

For Arizona, which is saddled with an estimated $2.6 billion a year fiscal burden as a result of the federal government's refusal to enforce immigration laws, the cost of mounting a legal defense may be worth it. The problem of illegal immigration has become so acute in Arizona that residents seem ready to stand behind state leaders even as the costs of a legal defense mount.

In filing suit against Arizona, the administration is delivering an only slightly veiled and deeply troubling message to other states: Enforcing immigration laws locally may be right for your state; it may be popular with the voters; you even may prevail in the end. But we would rather fight you - American citizens - than fight illegal immigration. Upping the ante appears to be the latest strategy not only of the Obama administration, but also of others who want to prevent enforcement of immigration laws. In the case of the illegal-alien advocacy network, the threat is explicit, not implicit. "Local legislation is going to end up costing taxpayers millions of dollars," warned Ali Noorani, who runs the National Immigration Forum, an amnesty advocacy group.

Those threats are playing out in Fremont, Neb., where local voters approved an immigration-enforcement ordinance by a 57 percent to 43 percent margin on June 21 over the objections of the mayor and many on the City Council. Many local officials were not against the ballot measure per se but were concerned about the cost of defending the will of the people against the deep pockets of foundation-supported groups that oppose immigration enforcement.

"I do caution everyone that voted for this that there will be a cost to pay," said one opponent on the Fremont City Council after the vote. "It's going to be very costly for the city while this is litigated," warned another council member. Their concerns are not unfounded. No sooner had the votes been counted than the ACLU announced its intent to sue the city. "Our intention is to make sure the law does not go into effect for even one day," said a spokeswoman for the Nebraska ACLU.

Whether in Arizona or Fremont, whether instigated by the Obama administration or advocacy groups, lawsuits over local immigration-enforcement policies appear to have less to do with the pursuit of justice than with raw intimidation for partisan gain. In the process, justice and protection for ordinary citizens harmed by unenforced immigration laws become collateral damage as political interests are pursued through the courts.

In the end, many local governments will have little choice but to endure the expense of a court battle as the costs of providing basic services to illegal aliens escalate. The decision of the Obama administration to bleed the taxpayers of Arizona signals that before Americans can protect themselves against the harmful effects of mass illegal immigration, they will have to fight a very costly battle with their own government.

Don't forget that several years ago (probably around three) the Mexican government estimated that there were 20 million illegal Mexicans here. That's the Mexicans alone, and how many of them are here now? 25 million? 30 million? So probably add at least 10 million more Latinos from other countries. Then there's the rest of the countries. And they're probably pouring in by the billions with this talk of amnesty.

It's insanity for anyone to be talking about amnesty. They do not have the right to give away our country. And Obama is still making stupid statements like "we can't round up and deport 11 million people." Aside from the obvious and purposeful miscalculation of the numbers, he must know that that would not be necessary. Make it impossible for them to work, and most of them will be gone soon enough. Make a guest worker program for the fields, and be done with it.

People need to picket, boycott and whatever else is necessary to stop the ACLU and the NAACP. Two organizations that are against America and FOR the illegals.

Scary stuff to be sure. Did anyone read Georgie Anne Geyer's June 30, 2010 article in The News-Herald? ("Arizona is trying to do the fed's work) Very good. It should be sent to Obama a million times.

I think The News-Herald is doing a pretty good job of informing its readers about a lot of what is going on with the Mexicans. Most of the media still ignores it, which is how it got this far out of control.

If we have amnesty, it will be the end of America. It is the duty of every American citizen to fight this in every legal way possible.

Holy crap. For anyone who hasn't read the article that 9:40 recommends, I suggest that you do. This article, too, should be sent to Obama and everyone in office everywhere that is for amnesty. Maybe 1,000 times would guarantee a read.

This confirms what I have been saying -- that we cannot elect anyone who is Latino to any office in the U.S. We must also fight hard to get any who are already in office out.

Sorry 2:21 your talking two different animals. civil rights and enforcement of Federal Law?
I tend to believe if your in this country illegally you don't have the same rights as a legal citizen. That doesn't mean that the government can abuse a non-citizen only remove them from the country.
Anonymous, Imagine if civil rights had been left to the states back in the 1860's? Not such a good idea. Sometimes things need to be done in order to insure a more perfect union. The federal government has a resposibility to enforce federal law, not ignore them at their whim or to play politics with them.

First off thats not where Painesville at presently. The problem comes in when a city administration "pretends" there are no problems along with acting helpless about the situation. Even a long term city councilman makes a statement that "we do not profile here."
When these states and other localities make it tough on illegals where do you think they will end up? Painesville is getting a reputation of being Spainesville maybe the leaders are all comfortable with that?
Recently a concerned citizen went to a school board meeting to lodge a complaint about a story in the Heritage school paper, that was inserted into the Lake County Gazette.{My Maria} The principal answered the situation as well as he could, in the latest edition of the Gazette. The end result is the people running the schools know that people are watching.

It's hard to understand whats going on on many issues. The Dems think their getting a voting block, along with the GOP who wants cheap labor and customers for business. What seems to be missing from both sides is the rule of law.
I will vote against any member of any party that doesn't come out against illegal aliens or is for amnesty.Sorry.

I'd like to know what Painesville's demographic is right now - I'm pretty sure my street is majority Mexican at this point. I do feel invaded. I now have three Mexican households in my immediate vicinity. I just LOVE stepping out my front door to hear loud laughter, Spanish conversation, screaming kids, and that horrible music they listen to. I never used to feel this way but lately I wish they would ALL go home. It isn't their skin color, folks - it's their BEHAVIOR! I had to wear earplugs to bed last night. The illegal fireworks everywhere were bad, but the Mexican music was worse.

To 11:51: I'm a Democrat, but I've been one of the ones slamming Obama for not getting rid of the illegals. I, too, am frustrated, though, that everyone is blaming the Democrats only, when it is the fault of both the R's and the D's. Bush wanted to legalize them, too.

Another thing that is really scary to me is that we have all these people running around blaming the deficit on Obama. Clearly the deficit was out of control when he took office, and he inherited a country that was literally collapsing. The fact that we didn't is a miracle that he created. Now everyone is blaming the lack of jobs on him, too, when it was nowhere near his or the Democrats fault. So now everyone, including the Tea Party is putting Republicans back in office -- the same people who almost put our country in total ruin. I don't get it, and they had better stop it before we DO have a country that is totally collapsed.

I'm also sick to death of hearing people screaming about the bail outs like it was the wrong thing to do. Without bailing out the auto industry and the banks, he could not have saved the country. I don't agree with 100% of EVERYTHING they did, but close to it. They had to do things so fast, and there was no precedent for any of it. Now the D's are trying to pass bills to make sure that it doesn't happen again and the R's are fighting it just to make the D's look bad.

I don't feel the R's care about this country or Americans at all. Just want to make themselves look better at Obama's expense. For example, stopping the unemployment benefit of millions of terrified Americans who cannot find work just so they can slam the D's.

Having said all that, however, I think Obama needs to be threatened with impeachment if he continues to call for amnesty and does not get these people out. I wouldn't want to SEE him impeached, but I think it's a justifiable threat. Our very country is at stake. Our Constitution MUST make it wrong for them to let our country be invaded like this, right? -- let alone calling for amnesty for an unknown number of people that there will be no end to. I wish the Tea Party would be screaming THAT and quit putting not only R's back in office, but unqualified Republicans on top of it. Stupid in my opinion. Stupid and dangerous.

These Mexicans have made the biggest "Trojan horse" there ever was. "Just nice people here to have a better life." THEY know they're taking over America, so why doesn't our government. Obama has done many, many hard things already just because they were the right things to do. He needs to do it on this issue, too. Maybe if the R's backed him up and weren't trying to decimate the D party at the expense of America, he would. At any rate, the American people need to stand up now and be loud. If everyone against amnesty stood up, he would have to send them packing. He could blame it on us, and we could start taking back and saving America.

Term, If illegal immigration as a problem I'd go after the source of the problem - the employers who actively solicit illegal immigration, so that they can have a docile cheap workforce for which the INS can be called anytime workers grumble about pay or conditions. There's a lot of money in this, and a real crackdown on employers could end the "problem" tomorrow. You don't have to nail them all, just a few who are shown to have knowingly or with reckless disregard hired them in large numbers. Nail a few to the wall and the rest will fall in line. Of course, you'll be paying 7 dollars for a head of lettuce, but hey, if getting rid of the swarthy folk is the priority, so let's have at it.

Term, You are forgetting; Obama inherited agencies that were unprofessional and incompetent. A dysfunctional agency can cripple a President. . . . . . “The government only gets in the way,” and the, “Deregulate, deregulate, deregulate,” Republicans drove a stake through the heart of our agencies like the SEC and MMS, and then embedded their cohorts in them to see that the stake stayed in place ( six of them in the MMS alone, high level supervisory jobs protected by Civil Service ) . . . . . And now we have the Drill-Baby-Drill Oil Spill because of it. Immigration isn't our country's biggest problem!

Obama stepped into office with his plate full. Going into office, he had more problems to deal with than any President since Abraham Lincoln.

Obama inherited a mess. I got the impression that some voters thought he could walk on water and abra- cadabra everything is fine.
Truth be known on all levels of government federal, state, and even local sometime in the past thirty years they quit working for us and we started working for them. The war in Iraq was a waste of money and human resources, this country's policy to winning wars was to always play defense not start wars. The state wants to run trains from one end of Ohio to the other without a customer base. Locally I want to meet the person that believed the streetscape grant[$92,000] was a great deal.
If every business in this city wasted money like they do at the "Golden Dome or "Jefferson St. Spend Alot" they would all go broke.

Well, I was at the re-enactment of James A Garfield's speech to dedicate the Statue in the square to honor our Civil War troops. I have to wonder if Mr. Nagy or our State Rep Mark A. Schneider have even the slightest clue what this was all about. This re-enactment was a case of a candidate running for President of our country taking time to honor our troops by dedicating this statue and to help reunite the country after a long and bitter Civil War. In his own small way, to make people realize that we are still "one Nation under God" as our founding fathers believed when they declared our independence from England. So, on The Forth of July, a day that celebrates our freedom that has been fought for and lives given for, not once did our city or state representative thank or recognize our service men and women for all they have done in the past or the present. Not only that, no one could give a minute of their time to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

With this total lack of respect and this wide spread apathy from our representatives, no wonder our city and more important our country is going down the tubes. When our President says "We're no longer a Christian nation." and the government is suing the State of Arizona over immigration laws, sure makes it similar to the slavery's moral issues and states rights issues that led to the Civil War. Sounds a little simplified and far fetched? Maybe.

Just how many Hispanic immigrants want to become Americans compared to how many want to change America into Mexico? Think about that a minute. Really think before you assume and call someone a racist.

Over the years I have met and got to know many people who immigrated to this country from all over the world. They kept their heritage and their cultures but also learned ours. I learned about theirs and taught them ours. It was a two way street for all of us. This is the positive side of immigration. What makes America a great nation.

The Hispanics in my neighborhood have moved in and taken over and feel free to do anything they want. They live 10, 15 or 20 to a single family house. They raid other people's gardens and feel free to just enter someone else's yard for anything they want. They sneak across the border without a job, sponsor, a place to live and usually little money. Now they are added to our already over burdened social services and increase education costs not to mention medical services. Wonder if this is one reason the hospital left? How many go to Tri-Point compared to Lake East's emergency room? Sure, not all are like this, but they are in MY neighborhood. This is the negative side of immigration. Until they fix this and stop demanding special rights for ILLEGAL immigrants like amnesty, we will only spiral deeper and deeper into the drain and never get out.

At July 6, 2010 at 6:07 PM , Anonymous Badger said...

One other observation I forgot to mention was, didn't see many Hispanics at the Garfield re-enactment. For that matter, I see very very very few at Memorial Day or Veteran's Day ceremonies. Wonder if this has to do with the lack of American Flags in the schools.

Long Time School Board Member, Mary Hada, Resigns
Long time school board member, Mary Hada, has resigned as a member of Painesville City Local Schools’ Board of Education midway through her 21st year of service to the community. In a letter to School Board President, James Dillard, Mrs. Hada said her decision to resign was due to an increase in personal and professional demands on her time. The Board of Education will accept her resignation at the July 12th Board meeting and accept applications to fill the vacancy which will be effective July 9, 2010.
Following Ohio Revised Code, the Board has begun the process to replace Mrs. Hada and must name her replacement within 30 days. Minimum requirements for those interested in serving on the Board are: candidates must be at least 18 years old, a registered voter and live within the Painesville City Local School District. The candidate selected will start immediately and serve through December, 2011. The seat will then be available in the November, 2011 General Election for the remaining two years of the term ending December 31, 2013.
Mrs. Hada expresses her sorrow in having to leave the Board and her pleasure in having served her community and the district that means so much to her. She states, “I am proud of all that has been accomplished and achieved through incredible participation and teamwork including … the construction of a football stadium, track and new bus garage … a heightened focus on improving student achievement … the receipt of many awards in academic, fine arts and athletics … and, finally, the construction of the new Thomas W. Harvey High School, Heritage Middle School and Elm Street, Maple and Chestnut Elementary Schools.” She continues, “I wish to thank all of the district’s parents and parent organizations who spend so much of their time being involved in the education of our children and in supporting the district’s efforts in “Engaging All Students Today For Tomorrows World.” She also thanks her fellow Board members, the administrators, principals, teachers and staff who she has come to know, not only as true professionals, but as friends.
Superintendent, Dr. Michael Hanlon, expressed his gratitude to Mrs. Hada for her dedicated service as an active Board member. “Mrs. Hada has always been focused on serving the best interests of our youth, our community and our district and she has dedicated a large portion of her life to serving this community,” said Superintendent Hanlon. “Mary’s enthusiasm and commitment has resulted, not only new schools, but the development of programs and initiatives leading to improved student achievement for all our students.”
Citizens interested in being considered for the vacant Board position have until Friday, July 16 to submit a completed application form and letter of interest stating qualifications for the position. I understand the sarcasm, problem is, most people here jump to conclusions and start with the name calling, bashing, blaming or whatever else you want to call it.

Of the groups I mentioned, the Dems seem to receive the least amount of criticism. Not surprising since most of Painesville are Democrats. Term, you may not like it but you too seem to enjoy finding fault with the Republicans more than the Democrats. After all you are a Democrat and you are entitled to your own opinion just as I am mine. Yes, I like to at least point out the other side when I think a post is only presenting one side of the picture. Even you have to admit that the other groups, Tea Parties and Rally Team have come under fire here too. The Tea Parties because they are fighting against higher taxes and bigger deficits and the Rally Team because they wanted to draw attention to the Mexican Consular issuing Matricula Cards at your church. Our elected officials need to be held responsible for the problems they created just as the supporters of ILLEGAL immigration need to also be held responsible. That means from HOLA, employers to churches.

All I'm saying is that we need to start looking at issues from all sides if we really want to get something done. With the borders unsecured, the threat of amnesty, no budget for 2011, run away deficits, high unemployment, tax increases for schools and health care not to mention a foreign policy that is a disaster, we have to many problems to solve to have time fighting amongst ourselves.

So you all can call me thin skinned, opinionated, an idiot or whatever. You don't have all the answers any more than I have them. We all need to work together to find the answers.

My point is that bashing the other guy gets us no where. Everyone has their own point of view. We need to listen and see the other one's point of view and then try and come up with a better solution. No one person or group is always right just as one person or group isn't always wrong.

As I said, we are all entitled to our own point of view. Maybe, just maybe something I say makes a little sense. Same for the rest of the people who post here.

To 7:33: I especially like the Ohio campaign commercials now that blame the Democrats for all the jobs being lost in the last few years, when clearly it was Bush and the Republicans that almost crashed the entire United States and, therefore, lost all the jobs. The sad thing is that a lot of people don't know enough about the details and they will believe this. That's what the commercials are counting on. Just like the Tea Party people. Half of those people have no idea what they are talking about. Just a bunch of middle age and older people who are following, following, following the crowd. Very scary.

Anyway, I'm one of the ones that have talked down Republicans on this sight, but I don't think I have said even one thing that is not true or is not verifiable. Screaming about the deficit, for example, when it's the fault of the almost complete collapse of the U.S. under the R's. Or screaming about the bailouts when that is what helped save us from total collapse.

I've been pretty hard on the D's, too, at times. I am a Democrat, but am very unhappy with Obama's amnesty attempts and his lawsuit against Arizona. I think it's shocking, and I think we should threaten him with impeachment if he continues. Surely, Bush was going to legalize them, too, but it's Obama that is trying to do it now.

Anyway, my point is, I guess, that it's not all Term slamming the R's here. It's me, too. But they did what they did, and they are doing what they are doing, and it is all verifiable, as I said. I'm more angry with the D's right now than the R's, if that helps at all. At least some, if only a few, of R's are calling for no amnesty. I give them a lot of credit for that although most have backed down on the issue, I think. I think that there is a lot of not-so-nice talk about D's on here, too, if you are watching for it. And I don't think Term hesitates to call out the D's when he thinks it's necessary.

Speaking of amnesty -- the governor in Arizona DOES have a defense donation fund set up for anyone who wants to contribute. They'll need all the help they can get to defend themselves against the government (!) (Obama) and the other civil rights lawsuits that are filed against them. I think there are three or four others.

I would like to keep the politics here local, every once in a while we all stray into the Washington scene. There are many things I have held Democrats responsible for and many I have blamed the Republicans. What scares me most is that both sides seem to care more about "special interests" then the people they represent, maybe its always been that way and now we just notice it more?
I am no fan of Gov. Strickland but at the same time I can't vote for a guy who made a small fortune working for Lehmen Brothers after leaving Congress. What choices?
Painesville may be a Dem stronghold please explain all the Republicans holding office here? Maybe people believe they serve the community the best. This is what I hope the reason is.
Then we have a self announced Conservative Republican who then runs to be the head of the OAPSE union? He must have a conflict about this going on inside him?
Is it to do justice to the members or more power for himself.
One of the most conservative teapartyers I know is a former government worker who blasts the government every chance they can yet feels more then entitled to the perks of his former employer.
Now double dipping? Who will bailout this mess in afew years?
This was for Badger I can only hope on many of the crises coming down the track there is more agreement then harassment.

TERM, first of all, when is it a crime to make money? Would you rather have someone who was unsuccessful in his job running this state? Second, name all the R's who hold office in Painesville. I can only think of a couple. Third, it is unconscionable the harm you did to the anti illegal immigration issue with the unfounded rhetoric you spouted here. To phrase it differently, you helped the illegals big time. Congratulations. Ever hear of cutting off your nose to spite your face. Well, you cut off a lot more just to make a point against the republicans. Sleep well. I don't understand you.

I believe local politics have less effect on nation politics than national politics have on local issues.

Painesville is not the only city in Lake County. County representatives are elected by the whole county and are suppose to serve the whole county. There are also more Democrats on city council than Republicans even thou it is suppose to be non-partison.

Immigration effects us all. It is a Federal issue that has much more local impact on Painesville than most other issues. So we can't completely overlook what happens in Washington.

Now to 6:52
Where did I blame any one side? I mentioned the issues that we all are dealing with today. I never screamed or blamed any one side or the other. We just can't continue to spend more than we take in. We need to create more jobs and not pass more tax increases for more entitlements for more ILLEGAL immigrants.

Katrina was no more Bush's fault than the BP spill is Obama's. How the WHOLE government system dealt with each of these crisis' shows us how dysfunctional government has become.

Seems to me that we are doing just opposite of what JFK said

"Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country." - John F. Kennedy

Interesting thing the about your statement.

"I especially like the Ohio campaign commercials now that blame the Democrats for all the jobs being lost in the last few years, when clearly it was Bush and the Republicans that almost crashed the entire United States and, therefore, lost all the jobs. The sad thing is that a lot of people don't know enough about the details and they will believe this. That's what the commercials are counting on"

Most people think that we were debt free under Clinton. In fact, the national debt increased under him as well as most presidents before and after. Remember, deficit isn't the same as the national debt. One thing that the commercial doesn't mention is who was Chairman of the House Budget Committee who balanced the budget under Clinton.

What they don't tell you.

Budget chairman
In 1995, when Republicans gained the majority in the United States Congress, Kasich was selected to become Chairman of the House Budget Committee. As Chairman, Kasich worked towards balancing the Federal Budget, and was the chief architect of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997. As Chairman of the Budget Committee, Kasich presided over the only U.S. Budget Surplus since 1969.[12]
In 1995, when Kasich assumed the position of Budget Chairman, the U.S. Federal Budget had a deficit of roughly -$163 billion, and upon the conclusion of his tenure as Budget Chairman, the U.S. Federal Budget had a surplus of roughly +$236 billion.

So, as I have been saying, we need to do our research, listen to all sides and all work together to get us out of this mess our country is in. Don't just take ANY political ad as the whole and complete truth regardless of who is putting it out. If it is only negative then you aren't getting all the facts. Sounds to me that he is good at his job. Someone who might just be good for Ohio.

Vote Republican or Democrat this November, just make sure it is for someone who will actually work for us. Someone who can help us out of this mess. Just make it an informed vote.

We need to do something about the run away spending. Think about this for a minute.

The nation's debt leapt $166 billion in a single day last week, the third-largest increase in U.S. history, and it comes at a time when Congress is balking over higher spending and debt has become a key policy battleground.

The one-day increase for June 30 totaled $165,931,038,264.30 - bigger than the entire annual deficit for fiscal year 2007 and larger than the $140 billion in savings the new health care bill will produce over its first 10 years. The figure works out to nearly $1,500 for every U.S. household, or more than 10 times the median daily household income.

Someone has to put a stop to this spending. Who cares what party, just stop the spending.

We can only afford to help the needy, not the lazy.

Substitute jew for hispanic when you read the book and we are doing it again! The economy falters, the world economy falters, business falters and the little guy goes hungry. CHICAGO (Reuters) – The government is taking a new approach in its effort to crack down on illegal workers by quietly auditing the employment records of thousands of companies suspected of hiring undocumented immigrants rather than staging high-profile worksite raids, the New York Times reported on Saturday.

The Times said the Obama administration had conducted such audits at more than 2,900 companies so far -- a number it said dwarfed the number of companies affected by the immigration raids at factories and farms during the eight-year administration of Obama's Republican predecessor, George W. Bush.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, known as ICE, has imposed $3 million in fines on businesses found to be in violation.

The Times said the government forces the businesses to fire every suspected illegal immigrant discovered on their payrolls -- not just those who are working during the audit -- and makes it much harder for the companies to hire other unauthorized workers as replacements.

But the Times said most of the workers discovered by the audits were not being deported once they lost their jobs and that the government had moved away from the practice of bringing criminal charges against immigrants who lack legal status but have otherwise clean records.

ICE chief John Morton told the Times, said the purpose of the audits was to create "a culture of compliance" in which employers would routinely verify the immigration status of their workers. He said ICE was most interested in finding "egregious employers."

With congressional elections ahead in November, illegal immigration has become a growing concern. Hispanic have traditionally tended to vote for Democrats but the Republican Party has been recruiting them.

The U.S. Justice Department filed suit this week against Arizona because of the state's new law requiring police to investigate the immigration status of anyone reasonably suspected of being an illegal immigrant.

Well said and my point also.
Term, anonymous, Rally Team, Democrats, Republicans, the School Board, County Commissioners and City Council all need to start to work together to solve this ILLEGAL immigration problem. Seems to me that most people would rather fight amongst the different groups than focus on the real problem. ILLEGAL immigration.

What ever happened to saying only positive things for what a week. Still, we are back to the same old-same old. Who says everything has to be done the way anyone on this blog says it should be done. We need to use all the tools in the tool box and not just do what a few people say should be done.

Sometimes I wonder if some here are running a stealth campaign to actually help the ILLEGALS by trying to keep us fighting between each other. If we can't show a united front then the battle is almost over and we just are waiting for the fat lady to sing the Himno Nacional Mexicano or press 2 for the English name (The Mexican National Anthem).

So, try to get involved somewhere. Don't like this group or that person in that group, then help some other way. Make calls, write letters, talk to friends, do you research and tell the politicians what you want or you are going to take your vote elsewhere.

Well, I have heard it all now. I was born in this country over 50 years ago.

I am white and a victim of racial discrimination and political profiling every day. I have said before that I am a patriotic conservative American Citizen. I agree with most, BUT NOT ALL, that the Republican Party, Rally group stance on ILLEGAL immigration, Tea Party protests against run away spending, support the troops and believe in the Right to Life. In other words, I'm more of a conservative than a liberal. So be it. That's my OPINION.

If I say that I believe in or support one of these groups, I am labeled a racist by Hispanics, those in this city that have different views and some of you who post here who think you know exactly how I vote.

The last thing I expected was to be labeled a radical, racist or terrorist by my government AND/OR Homeland Security. Now, even the First Lady has told members of the NAACP to intensify their efforts and to vote Tuesday on a resolution to condemn the Tea Party movement as being racist.

If this isn't pure reverse racial/political discrimination, I don't know what you would call it. Imagine if I went to a city council meeting, school board meeting, wrote a letter to a middle school newspaper and then it was printed in a county newspaper and spoke like this. What would happen? I would be labeled the biggest racist in the area. Some here would bring up the KKK as they have before.

Let these groups stop hiding behind the word racist to get what they want. To let them move to the front of the line or get special treatment is reverse discrimination. They need to get involved and stop using the term racist when they can't defend their own agenda.

Ever had a child tell you he/she got a bad grade because the teacher doesn't like them? When you ask them who did that, they blame someone else.. Sound familiar. Can't defend your point or issue, they resort to name calling or playing the blame game. Don't get me wrong, all sides do it. Just watch the NEWS.

So in 50 plus years of volunteering in the community, working hard and paying taxes, voting every election, raising a family, attending church and being involved in the community, I am now the one who is discriminated against, profiled for what I stand for, and basically considered a second class citizen by those who think they are entitled to do or say anything they want because they crossed the border ILLEGALLY or might be one of the 47% of Americans who don't pay any income tax.

Is this the America way of life that this country was founded for or fought for and died for by our troops.

Not in my OPINION.

The tear should be for America, our children and their children, not me. You need to do a little research about government spending. Remember, Congress spends the money. When you can post facts from a legitimate source such as the CBO for instance, then some of us might listen. The fact remains, we are spending far more than we are taking in.

As far as Right to Life goes, abortion became legal in 1973 and it has taken 46 million lives so far. So I am talking about millions of innocent children being killed, by us. Almost as bad as WWII and abortion has nothing to do with war.

Speaking of war, they seem to be still fighting don't they. Starting to get old complaining about the war while still fighting it and significantly increasing troop levels in Afghanistan.

Again I hear the race card. Well sticks and stones. In case you aren't listening, these groups are protesting the whole government from President, Congress all the way down to local city councils and school boards.

In case you aren't watching, the WHOLE world is in an economic crisis. How do you explain that? Since it sounds as if you too are on welfare, the tax increases from school levies to tax cuts left to expire. From Medicare cuts to Social Security already taking in less than it is paying out. Let's hope Cap and Trade or VAT don't get added to the mix. I'm sure there will be more. We need to get more people to work and less on government entitlements.

These things may not effect you very much or the rest of the 47% who don't pay taxes. For the rest of us, maybe we want our representatives to be more financially responsible.

Now, you sound as if you are black. So you are calling me a racist because I disagree with a lot of Obama's policies, does that make you a racist because you hate a white Bush? Good leaders are hard to find, I could care less what color or race they belong. Time will tell if he is a good president or not. Job results and not skin color matter.

Since the debate here seems to be Bush's deficits vs Obama's, I did a Google search and came up with a report with graphs comparing the two. I found this one in the Washington Post from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office. CBO that I mentioned. Interesting seeing it in pictures. What I saw was the drastic increase in years 09 and 10. I also saw that after that, they were just projecting what the deficits would be.

Now you can't count the projected deficits yet, but you must remember that the Democrats took control of Congress in Jan 07. So we can't just blame this on any one President. It is time we hold all of our congressmen responsible and put an end to this. Without the more jobs, the Federal Income revenue is only going to go down so services needed can't be bought without more borrowing. Less workers means less is going into SS and Medicare. The population reaching retirement age is only increasing every day and now the health care coverage is only going to draw more and more from Medicare unless there are drastic reductions in services or payments the doctors receive.

It is about the jobs. Jobs mean more tax money taken in and less borrowing taking place. Jobs will turn the economy around by putting money in the peoples pocket first, where it is needed most. Then there will be less entitlements and less bailouts. We need to help businesses create jobs, not bail them out. We need more people with jobs and less on welfare or working for the government who are the only ones that seem to be getting raises now days.

By the way, Painesville needs to be more business friendly too. Otherwise forget all these great plans.

To be honest what would you think of an organization such as the NAACP supporting a sign with Hitler, Bush, and Stalin with the word CONQUEST under each name? Well personally I would be insulted and appalled if ANY United States President was conpared to the other two, would you?
These sophomoric signs, tea bags on hats, looking like John Hancock at rallys might seem cute but it really hurts what your trying to get across. Term, and others. Try a Google search of Anti-Bush signs. Look under images. You just might be surprised by what you see. Maybe you overlooked these because you agreed with them. I don't know. So then are you saying they were OK. I don't know.

But if people here think that The Joker picture, Pictures with Hitler, Kill Whoever, F**k whoever, shoot whoever, execute whoever or the picture of whoever with a swastika started with Obama or has to do with race you are sadly mistaken. Do the search and go through several pages. You will find a lot of the same pictures you are insulted by and appalled with only with someone else's picture on them. You just might find that the groups you are complaining about weren't the first ones doing this.

Do I agree with the far Right or the far Left of either side doing things like this. NO. I am also not blaming just one party. These people aren't helping anything. But let's not say only one side is guilty. Tell the whole story. Negative campaigning against the other side usually means you have nothing positive to say about your own side. That's the problem with politicians these days.

As far as the war figures in the budget, if you read the whole report it says that the money was included in emergency spending money for the war. I'm not saying the war was cheap but one can't count the whole defense budget as the cost of the war. We have personal all over the world and in our country. I am against any war but sometimes it is a necessary evil. Both parties have gotten us into their own fair share of wars. Vietnam??? Also, haven't we escalated the war in Afghanistan?? The war may have started under Bush but it is slowly becoming Obama's too. Comes with being Commander in Chief.

Now, you and I both know that both sides added pork barrel to those figures. Special interest money to powerful congressmen's own districts. They used our service men and women as a pawn for their own pork barrel money. This needs to stop too.

Again, do your own search for anti-Bush hitler or joker pictures. There are many more.

I will say at least you said you will do some budget research too. Most won't. If we don't or can't find all the answers, how can we vote for anyone to solve our problems. Might as well flip a coin.

Sorry Badger I went to the site and did not see one sign promoted from a national recognized group. If your group wants to be recognized as an first rate political organization someone had better get control over what is sent out under the organization's name. The biggest mistake can one can make is letting the wingnuts on both sides take control.
To be honest I really didn't respect Bush but I have always respected the office of the Presidency no matter who was elected,. You can take that to the bank. As far as the war I wish he would pull the troops out tomorrow because once the American presence is gone the civil wars will start and a dictator will again rule both countries. Thats all they know. There are no George Washingtons, or Thomas Jeffersons in either country.

Emergency supplemental funding is exempt from ceilings that apply to discretionary spending in Congress's annual budget resolutions.

I'm not a budget expert, but from what I read the war is in the budget, just the money is coming from the Emergency supplemental funding so it doesn't have a ceiling or have a set figure in to be included in a proposed budget.

Not a great way to fund a war but doesn't mean it wasn't paid for. Yes it would be nice to end all wars.

"If your group wants to be recognized"

YOUR is the word you used

First of all, who said this was my group. I live here in Painesville. Have you seen me carrying a sign like this? Have you seen any sign like it here?

Haven't I been saying there isn't any place for this kind of behavior. I've followed national politics for many years. There are many fringe groups, college groups, lobbyists, church groups and national organizations of many types who will protest for what they believe in. The pictures in Google are of the signs and not the events or groups holding them. Somebody made them. They must have been marching somewhere. I don't see many people protesting all alone.

I. for one, was at the front of the line protesting the KKK in the square just as I was showing support for our fallen Marine and wanted to keep the church from Kanas away.

So don't include me with those people.

I want more jobs, a solution to ILLEGAL immigration, lower taxes and a smaller government who spends less money. If i'm not mistaken, isn't that what you want to happen in Painesville. I'm just more interested in National politics.

Now if you are referring to the tea party as a political organization, I think you might be overstating things a little. I would say they SEEM to be more of a grassroots effort of mostly like thinking individuals. Do they all agree. Don't think so. Do the members of the local tea party group have any say or control over what a group in say Columbus or another state does. I doubt it. Sounds to me as they are made up of many individual groups that formed to show congress they wanted lower taxes. Some groups have added their own issues (good or bad) to that. They aren't even a minority party eligible for federal funding. To date, I have yet to see anyone on the ballot running on the Tea Party ballot. Will it continue to grow or die off. Who knows. Do we need a third major party, not sure that's a good idea.

A question to others.

If you want lower taxes, who ya gonna call?

If you are against ILLEGAL immigration, who ya gonna call?

If you want your congressman to listen, who ya gonna call?

If you want your roads fixed, who ya gonna call?

Want better schools, who ya gonna call?

One call is easy to ignore, not a 100 or better yet, a 1000.

You may not agree with me or or the people here or with one of the groups mentioned. So be it. Find another. One voice is easy to ignore. Just look at council meetings. The more who stand up and let themselves be heard the more we can make things better.

Didn't the first lady tell the organized group called the naacp to get more incensed and was there when they called a group of people racist? I believe the naacp is a nationally organized group, don't you?

The First Lady and her husband are racists against whites. I voted for him, but I did so knowing he was prejudiced against my (and half his) race. Therefore, I was not surprised when the First Lady called on the NAACP to do some of her racist work for her. I was shocked that she was so open about it, however. It's because they think they are so justified in THEIR racism.

There is racism in america. Look at all the hate signs at tea party rallys? Look at how you people on this blog. talk about mexicans. Look how the black panther leader who wants to kill cops and white babys if you dont think theres racism here your crazy. Maybe the first lady has seen some of the hate mail that comes to her husband daily that has nothing to do with his policies only his race?

10:49 I'm debating if I should post your comment. This is not the place for this. You assume people hate someone without proof, along with telling us another group has no hate? I talked to two people at party in the park Saturday and they believe some comments are overboard, and I either should censor them or ask the author to sign his name. They make good points.

At July 18, 2010 at 11:31 AM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

This is 10:49: I don't believe I made the comment that some group has no hate. 8:32 is stating that the President and his wife had no racism against whites until he received hate mail while he was President. I am pointing out that there is sufficient evidence to prove they were prjudiced long before that, and 8:32 is making an assumption that there has been racist hate mail towards the President sent to the White House. Where is the proof of that? I doubt there are very many low-lifes that would do that, although I assume every President gets hate mail. When you look at the comments that the Republicans make about him and his presidency, I can only imagine. I have never heard one person say, however, that he is doing a bad job because he is black, or anything about him BEING black, for that matter. I was buying church raffle tickets the other day and got a real ear full. The guy never mentioned his race.
Anyway, it's your blog. Post the comment or not. Your choice. It won't matter to me. Reverse racism is rampant in this country. It is bound to make people uncomfortable now that it is finally being talked about.

At July 18, 2010 at 5:26 PM , Anonymous TERM>> said...

You made an accusation that all that come here hate? Along with another group that doesn't care. Where is even alittle proof of this? I don't want this site to be a firing point against other races.
Now if I was you I would attach my name to that comment and I would post it. Annoymous on this site doesn't give you carte blanche to let lose with any thing. Please show some facts.

Now someone who might know please explain the difference between the Tea Party and the Tea Party Express? The Tea Party has severed from the Tea Party Express because its leader Mark Williams made an anonymous racial remark on a blog.
About "colored people " telling Lincoln they didn't like this Emancipation thing because they would have to work for real. That may not be exact but why after this week why would he do such a moronic thing and the group Express not remove him from a leadership position? Please be civil.

Now some of you Rally people might understand why you should have stayed independent and not be tied in with another group. Say what you wish you will be painted by the same brush even if your innocent. Your group was about illegal immigration thats why I joined and Tea Party is why I left.

To Term 5:26: This is 10:49. Are you talking to me? Your comments make no sense to me based on what I said in the two posts you printed from me and the one that you did not.

At July 18, 2010 at 8:09 PM , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Term 5:59: I agree with you that Mark Williams has to go because of his horrible racist comments. I don't remember if the Tea Party apologized for the member (I am recalling it was only one, but not sure) that racially abused black members of our governent as they walked by a rally, but I think they eventually did. That was certainly a horrible, horrible thing.

I wish he would have called the NAACP a racist organization and been done with it. THAT I could go along with. I mean, Jackson brings in the SLAVERY issue over BASKETBALL? I did not own slaves. My grandfather did not own slaves. My great grandfather did not, nor did anyone in my family. I do not think that MLK would approve.

It's my opinion that Jackson, Sharpton and the NAACP run around the country trying to PROVE racism that most of the time does not exist. I believe they now PROMOTE reverse racism and have been for a long time. I had great respect for Martin Luther King Jr., and the fight they were all fighting back then. I was young, but helped every chance I had in every way I could. Also ended up having to quit a job about twenty years ago for speaking out to a racist white boss, but now I think they are helping whites be prejudiced, too.

I also think that the black race expects this of them and demands it from them. I think it's a vicious circle. They run around yelling racism, which continues to convince the black community that they are justified in their racism against whites, then they demand that they do what they do.

Anyway, I wish he would have called it a racist organization, and ended it there. I think it needs to be said. As a white, I am sorry for the actions of some of us lately.

In simple terms, the basic agenda of the Tea (taxed enough already) Party was chosen from hundreds of issues and was condensed to the following items.

1.Identify constitutionality of every new law:
Require each bill to identify the specific provision of the Constitution that gives Congress the power to do what the bill does. (82.03%)

Reject emissions trading: Stop the "cap and trade" administrative approach used to control pollution by providing economic incentives for achieving reductions in the emissions of pollutants. (72.20%)

Demand a balanced federal budget: Begin the Constitutional amendment process to require a balanced budget with a two-thirds majority needed for any tax modification. (69.69%)

Simplify the tax system: Adopt a simple and fair single-rate tax system by scrapping the internal revenue code and replacing it with one that is no longer than 4,543 words -- the length of the original Constitution. (64.9%)

Audit federal government agencies for constitutionality: Create a Blue Ribbon taskforce that engages in an audit of federal agencies and programs, assessing their Constitutionality, and identifying duplication, waste, ineffectiveness, and agencies and programs better left for the states or local authorities. (63.37%)

Limit annual growth in federal spending: Impose a statutory cap limiting the annual growth in total federal spending to the sum of the inflation rate plus the percentage of population growth. (56.57%)

Repeal the health care legislation passed on March 23, 2010: Defund, repeal and replace the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. (56.39%)

Pass an 'All-of-the-Above' Energy Policy: Authorize the exploration of additional energy reserves to reduce American dependence on foreign energy sources and reduce regulatory barriers to all other forms of energy creation. (55.5%)

Reduce Earmarks: Place a moratorium on all earmarks until the budget is balanced, and then require a 2/3 majority to pass any earmark. (55.47%)

Reduce Taxes: Permanently repeal all recent tax increases, and extend permanently the George W. Bush temporary reductions in income tax, capital gains tax and estate taxes, currently scheduled to end in 2011. (53.38%)

Most local groups (there are several locally) can or do include issues they feel are important to their local group. While they may have similar agendas, they are not under a formal chain of command.

The Tea Party Express is one such sub-group or in other words a PAC. Political Action Committee. It started in Sacramento Cal. and was a bus tour group that organized 33 different tea party events nationwide. There are at least 3 more major groups along with all the local ones. Tea Party Nation and Tea Party Patriots are two.

Just as we have liberals and conservatives here, we also have the very radical or extreme too. The actions of a few must not be condoned but at the same time not used to portrait the entire group.

One thing to think about is that if you think back about the major protest marches in DC, almost all have been social or moral issues. War, race, abortion, ect. Hard to come up with this large of protest movement over taxes, federal spending and constitutional issues. Not saying any more or any less important, but a lot of people have very strong opinions. Should make and interesting election.

As of yet, the Tea Party is not a Political Party like the R's, D's or even the Socialist Party. They are just a lot of separate Political Action Committees with some similar beliefs. So good and some bad.

Term you asked a question and I answered it the best I could. Since you seem to have opposed Bush, where were you. You said yourself that you are mainly concerned about local politics. Let's face it, this blog is just as radically opposed to the present city administration as the Tea Party is to the Federal Government. You could just as easily be deemed a racist for your stance on ILLEGAL immigration as the Rally Team or the Tea Party Express. Sometimes it depends what side of the fence you sit on. Maybe what side of the tracks you live????

You want to play Paul Harvey and tell the "rest of the story" about Painesville issues while I try to do the same with national. If people can hear both sides, sometimes we might just make better choices. You want more people involved in local politics and I want more involved nationally.

You may and probably do disagree with everything I stand for but if we can't get to the table to discuss/debate, what's the point? I am willing to defend my own point of view but it is not my responsibility to explain why anyone else is so concerned now.

That said, If you are asking ME, almost 3 trillion dollars of deficit spending in 2 years might be one reason. Someone has to pay the bill. That's MY opinion what started the Tea Party movement.

Also,

Being Black doesn't automatically make you a great President and more than it makes you bad President. Your actions and time will determine that.

And

Being Hispanic doesn't automatically make you ILLEGAL, but it also doesn't give anyone the right to break the law.

Hey TERM...maybe the Tea Party just finally got fed up. I didn't do or say much when Bush was president either but I write alot of letters and e-mails and make a lot of phone calls now because I'm tired of the lack of leadership all-around and am kind of scared about the direction this country is headed in....and I most certainly am not a member of the above-mentioned group. People come to political realizations at many different times and ways in life...why wonder where they were...they're here now. Didn't you have a political awakening of sorts just a few years ago when the city of Pain tried to sneak a charter amendment through? And once you got involved you got your eyes really opened for you. Sometimes things are just a matter of timing...such as a man of color being elected. I'm sure there are a lot of racist people out there on both sides of the aisle...(and in the balcony too) I choose to ignore their rhetoric and stay focused on the issues. Playing the blame game just wastes valuble time and resources.

The Republicans did the same thing to Clinton. I remember being horrified at what they were doing and saying to derail every single thing he tried to do. They then got power back and almost completely collapsed the United States of America. Now that Obama is in office, they are doing the same thing to him as they did to Clinton.

I agree REW

We all can name someone who crosses the line on any issue. I choose to ignore and avoid these people. While I have talked to many people who oppose the way things are going politically, I have yet to hear anyone blame it on a person's color. The issues are what's important. Anyone who shouts racism, usually can't back up their side of the argument with facts and they resort to name calling and playing the blame game.

Maybe it's time to stop blaming one side or person. It's time to get to work and make sure the ones we elect are the ones who are willing to work for us. After all that's why we elected them. We need more true representatives who work for us and less politicians who only look out for themselves and how to get re-elected.

Obviously, my real name isn't Badger. It would be nice to be able to say anything I want. I, personally, am not afraid or care what others say to say what I want or even to say my name. However, in my position at work, I am required to be non-political. I know many will say I am hiding but I still have a family to support and by doing so would put my job jeopardy.

Term, be honest, would you give up your job TODAY for all the grief of running this blog. I'm not independently wealthy and to far away from retirement to risk my job. Why do you think I keep saying jobs are so important.

So say what you want, but at this time, my supporting my family must come before my politics. Maybe at a later date or if my job changes. Still, a lot of grief and only that much more for someone who is more conservative than liberal like me in Painesville.

I edited my post above and it became garbled. Basically saying that I don't care what others think of me and can stand up for myself. If I only had myself to take care of, I could be more open and put a face to my name. Now, I could lose my job. If I change jobs or when I retire down the road, I intend to be a lot more vocal and visible.
