"WE BUILT THIS CITY ON......".....jefferson starship

Well, attended the cities presentation about streescapes, don't want to be negative but an $80,000 grant to tell us to start small with paint, flowerboxes and trees? And since we live in NE Ohio, where will all the plowed snow go? No one asked that. I have been accused of speaking negatively on all projects concerning the city. I have found it hard to sit in this meeting and look at the situation in a positive light. This plan struck me as adding alot of botox to our downtown. All we need now is a street named 'Assache Lane' and the plan will be complete.

(I made the meeting info as large as I could...if anyone has difficulty reading it, e-mail me and I will be happy to forward a copy...or ask city hall for a one.)

Are we withholding news concerning Painesville? Over the last few days I have received four (4) e-mails concerning a traffic accident on North State St involving a yellow mid-nineties Mustang. The reports I've received said Painesville Fire Department had to extricate a passenger and the driver (allegedly a young Hispanic man) was seen running from the scene of the accident. Does anyone know any other details about this incident and why are incidents like this not reported in the newspaper? Is this information being withheld for a reason?

School Board past 16 Resolutions including 5.6 Resolution #10-162 to approve amended Administrators Salary Schedule for 2010-11 wonder what that means?
Because it was a Special Meeting no public forum was addressed.

The Board then went into Executive Session- Superintendent Evaluation.

It's simple. Information is being withheld because they don't want to shed any bad light on a latino. If it had been an African American or a white, it would have been reported all over. Very simple. Remember, Painesville is a sanctuary city and that means giving sanctuary to illegals and all their criminal actions.

Several years ago there was information that was apparantly withheld from us. I was talking to someone who mentioned "the rapes" in Painesville. I had not heard anything about any rapes in Painesville. I tracked down the information, although I don't remember now who I talked to. Seems like the police department. In the end, I was sure I had correct, although not complete, information.

Come to find out, young kids were being taken and raped. There were at least a few. Seems like I remember not being able to get complete enough information to know the number or how long it had been going on. I called everyone I knew with young kids to warn them about something they certainly should have been informed about. Since that time, I have no confidence in our local police, city leaders or local newspapers keeping us informed. I personally think that there are a lot of things that are kept from the citizens of Painesville.

Regarding the accident and lack of news coverage, it could be one of the following: 1. Police haven't finished investigating and fear that giving a statement may hamper the investigation..... 2. PPD sent a press release to the Newsless-Herald and the NH decided it wasn't newsworthy.....

Either way, do we really want that more of that kind of press when the stereotypes about this city are bad enough?

Assache Lane, now that's funny...

Every time an Hispanic gets in to a car wreck they run and get one with a lic. to run back and act like it was them driving, its there code.

All people need to do is click on the things you attach to your blog to make them bigger.

I went back and checked the streetscape grant cost $93,000 of which Painesville's share was $18,000. Do not confuse this with the downtown master plan that was another grant. Anyone ever wondering how to "blow" that much government money on nothing.

Term 5:20: And haven't we been "blowing" that kind of planning money over and over for years and years now, or does it just seem that way?

I wonder how Hanlons evaluation went. Any info? Will he go or will the BOE give him another big fat raise (along with him taking back his voluntary pay cut)

So do you know how many flowers and shrubs $93,000 or $18,000 would have bought?
Jeeeze this town could have looked like a Petiti's garden center!
but we can't even agree where to put a flower box let alone fill it with flowers.......

So your thinking the board will try to pass this levy under cover of darkness? FAT CHANCE!

The next time the city gets an idea on how to promote and improve Painesville.I only hope they take the time [also not to spend thousands of dollars with Mr. Volpe] and do a little research;
Start here Rita

You don't need to spend a bundle of money to get people involved just a desire.
I agree you could have done some nice improvements with the $93,000 or even the $18,000 but lets face it that really wasn't the purpose of that grant was it? City Architecture needed some work , uh.
Mr. Volpe is probably in "Little Italy" laughing at us right now.

The accident happened when the vehicle was traveling west on Railroad St. failed to make the turn went thru the guardrail out onto N.State St. Police located the driver and he will appear in Painesville Muni Court Thursday.

Where and when are the meetings for the fire levy going to take place? Or was his another broken promise?

July 5, 2010, You sound disappointed. I think you are one of the few whom may be in favour of it.
Perhaps with so many negative blogs it got put on the back burner.
To bad, Cedarbrook residents have been waiting over 30 years for some protection on their side of the tracks.

7:46 Might have been in favor of a new station south of the NS tracks, but please explain how building a station on Jackson St. [still on the other side of the tracks] would benefit the Cedarbrook area?
It should be on the front burner so city officals could hear what the resident think of this idea.

Who do you want to explain building a station on Jackson? Please re-read July 5,7:46 Term. No where do they mention building anything, anywhere, merly asking about the future of levy. 7:04 mentioned building in the Cedarbrook area, no mention of Jackson St. there either. Where did you come up with that comment?

I sat in a city council meeting where the safety committee made the presentation to council. Jackson St was the safety committees choice not mine.
Call a councilperson.

Seems the driver of the yellow Mustang appeared in court Thursday and was granted a continuance along with bail. After the hearing it was reported to me the the Border Patrol had picked him up and was being helds in Erie Pa. This might be an interesting story. Wonder if he will make his new court date?
