"TELL ME, WHATS GOIN ON?"

I mentioned about the resident that blew up at Monday nights council meeting, he had received a utility shut-off notice from the city stating if it wasn't paid in full his utility's would be shut off. He told council he had already paid $80.00 on the $126.00 bill and it didn't show that credit had been given. I'm guessing here, but he felt insulted about the notice as a Painesville homeowner. "C.E.I. wouldn't do something like this ,and he didn't expect for Painesville to do this either. How long has he lived in the city? 10 20 year I have no idea. He then explained what a joke the citys streets were, and asked what they were doing with all the money. Finally he mentioned that the city needed a Mayors form of government.
That'a where my surprise came in.
I have kown Council President Joe Hada for 50 years, and I figured if any person in the room that could defuse the situation it was Joe. He would explain why he had received the notice, point him in the right direction and probaby reassured him he would have lights at the end of the week. The city was aware of the condition of the streets and were looking at the best way to do as much with the money at hand. Joe could have explained that the City Manager form of government although not perfect he believed was the best thing for Painesville. The man was looking for conversation from someone and he didn't get it. What he got were 9 people sitting stoically, silently, staring at him as he left the meeting not one word from anyone. Why? Someone please explain the persona of Painesville. Will someone from the city government contact this person with some answers? The people that run this town should understand most of us are just trying to get from Monday to Friday. Thank-You

You expected someone on council to respond, and then wonder about them?

I am in no way a council "supporter" but what makes residents feel like they have some god given right to stand up at a council meeting and berate members of the council and administration?

Question council, yes, all for it. Act like a three year old throwing a tantrum and I feel council was totally correct in ignoring the guy.

If he got a shut off notice then he was late on his bill, probably dropped it in the box on a weekend after it was due, and then didn't even bother to call the utility office to see if they got it.

No sympathy here, the city is wrong sometimes but i believe this resident was wrong and needs to grow up and act like a responsible adult.

The problem was he was a legal Painesville homeowner. Now if he was in Painesville illegally they would have probably voted to pay his bill. go to www.news-herald.com and read the comments about Painesville,s rental program.

Speaking of the streets, You can lose a small car in the potholes at the bottom of Main Street hill. That section is horrible!

Now that all the brownosers at city hall have chimed in, lets just remind everyone who works for whom? I good reason this town is so screwed up is the way citizens are treated by the administration what great personalitys they have. Hey Rita your employees show you so much respect.

COUNCIL MEETINGS SHOULD BE TO GET ANSWERS AND ALSO THE END OF MEETING SHOULD BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FOR DIALOGUE. attend a county commish meeting for a good example. MURPH.

Absolutely no cognizant sense being stated by any post person in reference to the "inaction" by city council members. This has been the scenario by all of them for way too long. "Oh, we will pass your troubles/request to the proper department." Sure, words are great, unfortunately the problems (no matter how they may be spoken at a meeting) are truly buried and you will be lucky if you ever gain a response. The only way you may gain a response is to continuely ask, ask, ask, ask, and hound them for resolution.
We know this and have been through this with our drinking water problem.
Posters, we know that you never ever receive an immediate response and we also know that you have had to call and call and almost beg for not only an answer but a visual resolution on your property or street - which has taken many months up to one year or so.
Stop trying to fluff this council group as you know your difficulties and those of others.
CM does not care - CM only cares about her agenda. If our elected officials, would stop believing that they work for her,and that she works for them - stop believing no support - stop being afraid of her past - Stand-Up and exercise your Powers and Duties; then just maybe this city would have the intelligent representatives for the future - and not the same old same old items of the past that failed and are not appearing again and failing.
Oh downtown Painesville is so great, NOT! 170-174 on Main Street is now in Sheriff's Sale. J.W. Urbanick et al. Artful Hands and the section to the left. The legal ad lists 5 parcel numbers. Read the legal page of the News-Herald dated 3/6/09 and have a discovery on your own.

Joe and Mary think Painesville would go down the tubes if they weren't around. Guess what you two it did anyways.
P.S. Dont mention how long you two have filled your positions, Its a deal breaker to anyone still undecided.
